Ive just heard that Island is lying on the edge of a tectonic plate and that there is a lot of vulcanic activity. does this mean tht EvE no, not just EVE, the servers, no not just the servers, the whole CCP company, might be in danger? what if an huge earthquacke destroy CCP. how would we ever survive without EVE??
P.s. im sorry for wrong pronnouncement and spelling.

It is however prone to floods. Especially considering Mr. Al Gore tells us that in 7 years the north pole icecap will be gone and everyone on islands will drown :)
CCP, you have 7 years to move the servers or we will DIE!

Right, melting of the polar caps sure can cause the sea to rise several meters... I am sure it will only rise about 50 cm or so. Thats about 2 feet for the ppl who are afraid to use SI-units. ---

Here's an experiment:
Take a large glass. Fill it with ice cubes. Fill it the rest of the way with water. All the way to the top, so you have a nice convex meniscus. Allow the ice cubes to melt. ----- TANSTAAFL

Not really the best alternative anyway. 3 tectonic plates meet close to it. Google for Japan or Kobe earthquakes to see the results. /edit Just checked wikki for the Kobe earthquake 1995: Almost 6.500 casualties and $200 billion USD in damage

Indeed.. Iceland loves to mooch our beloved tax monies, those lazy bums
I propose to make EVE free to play for Danes due to the country owing us so much money!
As previously mentioned, the servers are safely tucked away in London, so all is well so far

That's true but it has happened in the past. There was a documentary on TV a year or so ago that pointed out that most of Northern Europe (the industrial power house and also where some of our greatest architecture is located) is on top of a really deep seismic fault. Current thinking is that it's stable but recent research was beginning to challenge that. London has in the past suffered some severe quakes:This is why history lessons can matter -- (Battle hardened industrialist)

It can't even go nova lol. It will just fizzle out and die compared to larger stars. We will still die before the sun stops though as it expands. ---------------------------------

Yeah, Iceland (not Island ) is situated on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge
and yes, Iceland is breaking in 2 and there is an ocean forming in between. But you are forgetting you will be a) dead or b) frozen c) drowned => all goes back to a) dead. For this to have a serious effect on Iceland, we'll have to wait about 1000 years, at least. And please, refrain from watching silly doomsday docu's. Thank you Disallowed sig graphic. Iceland does indeed lie in an earthquake zone being atop the mid-atlantic ridge.. Most of the buildings in iceland are reinforced against earthquakes though, and since I have been here have not felt any tremors to date in Reykjavik.
However we are reasonably safe from big earthquakes as the boundary is a divergent one and not a convergent or transform plate boundry like in Japan or California which can cause much more intense earthquakes.
In short, we are safe here :)

I went snorkeling at Thingvellir with a few other CCPers and you basically snorkel between the two tectonic plates. It was pretty awesome. However, even though Iceland has both volcanoes and the potential for earthquakes, I think the chances of CCP being pulled into a rift is pretty minimal.
