They are just a tool for CCP to use, nothing else. Always have been. Good intentions, but expectations and self flattery that has spawned from them defeat it's purpose.
And what I find hilarious are the ones that claim they have 'connections' and pound concrete to the media over these issues.
NO csm, those media outlets have connections with you because they will always try to get you to talk for as you said, website hits. They don't care a bit about you otherwise, or CCP and EVE for that matter.
The EGO that has grown of this group, to think that they have an ability to call for the player base to do something and the crowds will listen and follow, is just unbelievable. The preaching done by mittens and the lot thinking they know what's best for the whole of EVE makes me gag, CCP just needs to yank the CSM program and wipe it's hands of it.
Pretty much. The only thing I learned about this is its not just the Mittani, its the whole CSM that feel the same way. We (those of us in highsec) need a CSM representative. A whole lowsec (mind you he couldnt even remember the name of the one lowsec guy he was that important to Mittens)/0.0 CSM (even as ineffectual as they are) whispering in CCP's ear is bad for the ppl that dont have representation.
Honestly, and this isnt cause I want the game to die but for a reason Ill make more clear in a second, I hope CCP stands up to the CSM, disbands them, tells them to go screw themselves or something. Simply put because if they bend to their pressure, whats to stop the CSM from doing this kind of thing every time they want a change. Then the CSM really WILL have become a monster.

I am so sick of Mitten's bullshit.
I enjoy Incarna and what it will bring to the game. I'm ok with the fact that others don't.
I don't wet my knickers CSM-style whenever the features I don't enjoy get development time over those features that I do. I'm not the only person that f**king plays this game after all.
I also don't collapse into an infantile rage whenver I am 'forced' to do something in the game that I dont want to, like refuelling a POS.
(from the EVEnews24 website)
Quote:The last true GÇÿEVEGÇÖ expansions besides Incursions we had was, ****, years ago So except for the expansion (Incursion) that he remembers but chooses to dismiss, And of course Dominion that he seems to have forgotten about, we have had no FiS expansion. Riiiiight.
Quote:Tyrannis, however, ate two expansion cycles to bring us PI, which basically no one uses, as a planned eventual dust link. But it doesnGÇÖt offer any real gameplay for EVE players. So except for the people that do use it (unless POSs everywhere are running without fuel), and do enjoy it. No-one uses it. Cause Mittens says so. No need for anything like .. oh I don't know ... evidence to back your arguements up?
Hi my name is Mittens, and I haz a CSM. Therefor my opinion is more important than evidence to the contrary. I can post on a forum, therefore I represent everyone. |

I find this entire situation completely unacceptable. The whole "meeting minutes" situation is really starting to **** me off. We've been more than patient and frankly - my patience level is starting to significantly drop. If CCP doesn't do the right thing and I mean soon, they're going to lose another two accounts and the possibility of me even being remotely interested in Dust 514 and WoD will completely vanish.
For now - I place my hopes in the CSM. They're our voice. Let's just hope those at CCP sitting on their thrones cannot keep ignore the peasants which support them.
---
PS: Furthermore I completely agree with Mitten's position. There has been a serious lack of "EVE-content" in the expansions lately. No trailers, no new features, and hardly any real content expansions. Don't pray for my soul. ;) |

I read this thread. I read what Mittani wrote. Looked around that Kugu site, browsing the convos about 0.0
Here's a puzzle, for people who say they don't care about the game and bump into walls all the time, they sure know why , when and how a system fell the other day. A system that oh, 95% of the players have never heard of unless it's mentioned in the login page news. Also a great depth of knowledge about SC blobs, hot drops, logistics, intel as well as all the meta gaming that can be applied. I am reminded of Frank Zappa, sticking his finger up at high-tech studio production while at the same time up to his ears in it when it suited him. This in high contrast to straight-out ignorance of activities like PI and mission running that (face it) most of eve is doing.
Think I've figured it out. We have here people who want to have it both ways, shrug and giggle when they lose, pump their fists in the air when they win, and all the while dramaqueen it up about issues they distort into calamities. Infantile.
tl;dr: for the livestock --- dramaqueens are playing a different game than you are. |

Yeah wouldnt limit that too just the US these days.
But everyone wanted the CSM to go in to play hardball to begin with. Most of use saw the writing on the wall in the leaked mail and Internal Mag. Instead we got Chamberlain "Peace in our time" BS and them worrying about minerals in WHs etc? Lots of fluff jobs from that trip is what i took from it.
And many months late he has the same realization we all had when incarceration hit with one room and 3 plex monos. And it took them trying to rewrite the minutes for him to realize what a snow job they were trying to pull on us? He is more upset they were using him IMO more then anything else.
But if thats what it takes to get him aligned more to my view on CCP abusing the paying customer base then so be it. |

I only read the articles and it was all stuff everyone said during the week of rage. Only now it seems he is trying to sell it as new stuff he came up with.
But if he can get the goon block to put pressure on CCP then more power too him. I know the real score and thats what matters. |

Ah, but if they DON'T give in to the CSM, then the playerbase that actually made EvE famous(the 0.0 crowd) will pretty much all leave, or completely turn their accounts over to their bots so they can RMT. Eve isn't popular because of highsec, eve is popular because people hear stories about the crazy stuff going on in null, and want to check out the game that allows that. You lose the nullsec crowd, and eve will die a slow, stagnant death.
So its negotiate with terrorists or die, and there is too much money at stake for them to allow eve to die(at least til GlitterVamp2000 comes out, and they can sell pretty princess to idiot emo kids) On day, I will have a signature, til then I have this. |

Without wanting to stroke the Mittani's already well established ego: Goons are essentially an out of game organisation. They have some 6000 in game characters and some 150000 out of game members. Like almost all 0.0 groups they have out of alliance support alts/accounts (traders, PI runners, spies, locator agent alts, sleeper accounts, wormhole isk funders). If the Mittani decides to leave Eve, the vast majority of these characters will go with him.
Considering the current financial state of CCP (leaked on multiple out of game forums) losing an additional 3000+ accounts in one hit, along with the give no fucks releases to the media this would encompass, this CSM is the most relevant of any in Eve Online's history.
Eve is a terrible single player game. It is a moderately entertaining multiplayer game (I am being optimistic here). When it reaches a critical mass of declination, it will reach a failcascade point of no return. Mittani could enguineer that. |

CCP upper management already made the decision, while they aren't being nearly as caustic as SOE and LA officials at the NGE rollout in essence they have no clue what they are doing. They've had a business model mapped out and are following it to their doom just like SOE and LA's infamous focus groups for SWG.
The CSM has no power, never did. The only things that were implemented that it has suggested were already on the slate to be implemented. All the CSM is is a firewall between management and the player base. That's all it was ever intended to be. It serves about the same purpose as the SWG Senate back in 2005. Mostly kept in the dark about what really is going on and then expected to buffer between players and management when things blow up.
I'm sorry if anyone felt they were anything more than this, but they aren't.
Incarna was rolled out in an incompetent fashion. It was rolled out not even 1/4 finished and for no other reason than to meet some suits imaginary deadline. As such they missed the boat. What could have been a great expansion and pulled more people into eve instead has alienated those same folks who come find you can only sit in one station style and not interact with anyone. It should never have been released when it was. Working on it now is counterproductive really, the boat sailed and they missed it due to incompetent management. Continued work on it just stagnates other areas of the game long since ignored by management.
Incarna was like the CU for SWG, and we've seen similar trends in a decline in average users. The Winter Expansion could be the NGE if they aren't careful. What they need is to release at least a moderate amount of news ships and mods to change the mix. That's about the only thing that will reinvigorate EVE at this point. (You know those promised ships from winning contests, the long promised t3 frigates and t3 battleships (and hopefully a t3 industrial/miner combo). Just ships that do new things like maybe some Ammatar ships that take elements from both Amarr and Minmatar.
While certainly Seleene when he worked for CCP buffed Supercarriers to much, the fact remains that nerfing them will not change anything at this point. They already exist. It wasn't the supercarriers really that won things, yes they maybe made it easier but the truth was the DRF's dedication to building supercarriers and fielding them. The NC had as many if not more supers than the DRF on paper but in the end their pilots were not willing to engage after a couple of battles. That's what killed the NC (along with that foolish sanctum nerf). The Russians are dedicated, nerf their supers and they'll just come in battleships. They can build them probably 100 times faster. So basically you gain nothing. Instead it would be better to see new ship types emerge to deal with the situation. Drone Inerdiction ships, Heavy Battlecruisers, Heavy Stealth Bombers, Minelayers, etc. There is a plethora of things that could be done to drastically change the battlefield while still rewarding those who chose to dedicate their time and effort to building supercarriers. |

In regards to the threat of the goons leaving the game.
Most players wouldn't give a **** and would most likey laugh and celebrate if they did leave.
Also chances are many would be back after a few weeks because that is what they are like.
I don't understand why people do not understand that CCP DO NOT CARE.
Look at this from the suits point of view.
As far as they are concerned you guys are nothing but a collection of kiddies stomping your feet.
CCP are no different from any other MMO Developer, they do not act upon anything that the players do. At most they will play lip service but that is it.
SoE proved this with SWG, Turbine have proved this with Lotro. In both case they lost a large number of players but continued on the path they believed was right.
You can protest all you want, you can un-sub, you can leak anything you want to online gaming publications, it DOES NOT MATTER.
The main reason nothing will change has already been stated, if CCP give in to any kind of protest it sets a precedent, a very dangerous precedent.
It will mean that you will constantly get large alliances banding together threatening to leave on mass if they do not get there own way.
Even after all the bad press CCP suffered a few months back, the mass of peope who unsubbed, the protests in Jita, what did any of that accomplish..... Nothing, absolutely nothing |
