Aww, a goon feels misunderstood and cold shouldered by the community.
Just think about what your "leaders" have said in the past about bringing EVE to it's knees and killing nodes, then you might just have an idea why there is little respect for any member of your alliance.
We may have made mistakes in the past, but we were going through some difficult times. Please, if there is any way we can gain your respect don't hesitate to contact me or any of my alliance mates in game. Our public image is now and forevermore very important to us.
Maybe changing your new policy from NBSI to NRDS could improve your public image immensely and open new doors for future trade in the 0.0 space. I mean, a standings reset to NBSI isn't exactly telling the community that you are open for business with every one, more like a select few. Sounds pretty elitest to me.
Anyway, based on what I have seen in the past, I think that a lot of water has flown under the bridge and that it will probably take at least the same amount again before people really believe that there has been a change of heart in the general direction that goons have taken, compared to that of the past. --

I have personally seen cooperation between Goon and BoB pilots so I know peace can be won. A few months ago I could be found ratting in Delve, which of course is the heart of BoB space. My reasoning for such was my intense hatred for Angel rats, and the proximity of upper Delve with Empire. While ratting one night a BoB member entered local who also wished to rat, and instead of the usual smack talk we pleasantly exchanged salutations and agreed not to interfere with each others ISK making activities. We both agreed that the war was a strain on both our wallets and proceeded to talk about everything EvE related that did not pertain to the war. During one night of ratting I encountered a particularly tough triple BS spawn, I informed my BoB chum of the situation(low on armor, almost no cap, and 1 bs and a number of cruiser rats left) and he immediately warped to my location and helped dispatch of the rats which threatened my ship.
There were other great members of BoB and the GBC I met during my time in Delve. I know they are not inhuman monsters, but people like you and I. Many of them are good people who just want some peace and quiet. I think we can have pace in our time, if two bitter enemies can rat in the same system and not destroy each other, maybe the rest of EvE can follow suit, maybe only for a day, or even an hour, but peace is not impossible.

Water under the bridge is preferable to water over the bridge because we don't want our space-cars and space-trucks to be washed away on their way to work in the morning.

During this fight, I've seen a lot of changing, in the way you feel about me, and in the way I feel about you. In here, there were two guys killing each other, but I guess that's better than twenty million. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that if I can change, and you can change, everybody can change!

I have also seen this behaviour! I was nice enough to give him a few tips on what kind of damage to tank [EM/THERM for BLOODS!] and what kind of damage to deal [EM]

Well on this note. I was nice to a BoB guy once. He wanted to kill MY MAMMOTH and kept following me hoping for a kill. I even waited up for the little guy a few times. After about twelve jumps i told him he wasn't gonna catch me and he was wasting his time. So he turned around for some slower meat.

Unfortunitly with the game mechanics and ccp lack of helping players who have been tricked or swindled out of processions. You can only really count on one thing. TRUST NO ONE NOT EVEN YOUR FRIENDS!

truth.
i'd like to see eve transition into a new period of peace and cooperation where great monuments are built
CCP has given us the ability to build stations and outposts, but there should be something bigger which people can contribute to, some sort of space monument or maybe something more useful
the greatest gains come from cooperation and frankly i am tired of fighting

Hugs certainly feel good, both on the giving and receiving end, and it turns out their effects are more than skin deep. A study by University of North Carolina researchers found that hugs increase the "bonding" hormone oxytocin and decrease the risk of heart disease.

Aww, a goon feels misunderstood and cold shouldered by the community.
Just think about what your "leaders" have said in the past about bringing EVE to it's knees and killing nodes, then you might just have an idea why there is little respect for any member of your alliance.
Please guys in the posts above me, try to add something a little more substantive to this discussion. I think this is something really important for all of us to consider.
Now, to the quoted poster: Remember that I'm really new, and that the grudges of the past don't have the kind of pressing relevance to me they do for other players. That's where I see an opportunity- there are always new players coming into every alliance, why should they be forced to absorb the grudges of their elders? Why do the older players have to carry their hatred forever, when they could be free of it in the interest of making something better?
I really appreciate you engaging me and this conversation with this post and your follow-up post. It's by talking honestly and openly in this fashion that we can help shape the future of the EVE galaxy. We came here for various reasons, but I think all of us were attracted to the fact that we, as galactic citizens, can actually make a difference. The individual is empowered here to a great extent- we are only bound to the path of hate as long as we determine to keep walking it.
Let's step off the path.
I want to encourage the younger, newer players to come here and share their feelings. We belong to organizations with histories, but we don't have to allow those historical experiences to dictate our future actions. We all have reasons for why we are in the corporation or alliance we joined, but they are ours to contribute to even as they contribute to our playing experience. The fact that I'm here and saying this should be an encouraging sign- the 'youth' of EVE as it were can breath new life into the galaxy by communicating openly.

I thank-you for your honest dialog and sincerity of thought. Many old vets of EvE forget that new members are joining the game and the in-game alliances all the time. These members do not remember any of the past actions or complex political histories in the game. Also, lets remember that this is just a game and that there are real people on the other end of the characters we see. Through honest dialog and mutual respect for each other, perhaps this culture we call the eve-o community may come together for their mutual benefit.
