What you are posting is in stark contrast to what has been announced by your alliance's leadership.
If new players were "to go there", where you are, then your NBSI policy would would probably allow them to share loads of feelings with your alliance, and I doubt that any of them would be positive.
As I said before, you should consider a NRDS policy, then if can get the goons to keep to it, you might, with time, earn back some of the respect lost because of your alliace's previous behaviour and past track record.
Taking that into account, and the latest announcement, I find it hard to believe that even a post like this, by a new member, will change the communities view of your alliance.
Actions speak louder than words, and so far, the actions have said loads, and the words (many of them, even in this self same thread) have said nothing. --

I agree whole-heartedly. Goonswarm should indeed go to an NRDS policy as an olive branch to the EvE community. I believe the whole issue of lost respect by goonswarm to be a matter of simple misunderstanding that can easily be resolved through mutual respect for each other.

Yes, its a game, and crashing the server / node ruins it for everyone, where is the gameplay in that ?
I respect and have flown with loads of the older players in RA, TCF, etc., and sometimes even chat with them. Not intel or anything, just a chat between old friends (and sometimes enemies).
Originally by: FGxHalsey Through honest dialog and mutual respect for each other, perhaps this culture we call the eve-o community may come together for their mutual benefit.
One of the nice things about EVE is that "mutual respect" is earned, not requested or simply given because you want it.
Back in the days of CA vs. SA, there was loads of "mutual respect", we killed each other at every opportunity, but there wasn't any real animosity.
I think it'll take ages before people see the goons in another light. Your future actions (as an alliance) will show if this thread is more than just hot air. --

We look forward to the opportunity to demonstrate to the eve community that we have matured. We have new FCs and Sergeants that follow the teachings of Jesus Christ and minister to us on teamspeak. We have been filled with the holy spirit and wish to make peace with anyone who we have harmed over the past year.

I have never made a post about crashing the server. I too, am an eve player that enjoys a good smack-free fight and am eager to dish out the mad props when such props are deserved. I believe I can speak for us all when I say nothing would make us happier than lag-free GFs all around. I will personally petition CCP to implement dove-launchers to fire as a good will demonstration towards our fellow game players.

Major changes in policy can occur at any time, as we've seen here over the past few days. I think that I was fairly clear in that when inviting people to 'come here' as it were, I was speaking of this thread on CAOD and not Goonspace. I understand that our current policy makes safe travel for non-allied organizations dangerous.
Platitudes about words and deeds are all well and good, but this -is- a forum for conversation, so I aim to engage people on the level of words. As a 3m SP character my ability to influence people with in-game firepower or manufacturing expertise is limited, but open conversation is a great equalizer.
Thank you for your suggestion, I would be glad to hear if other people also desire a NRDS policy, and what other avenues could be explored to increase galactic communication. Is it your position that all alliances should pursue a NRDS system?
I wish that people could more easily see through the ambiguous and disingenuous information that is put out surrounding us. My experience among my fellows has been extremely positive. The goon population has a lot of warm feelings to offer, they treat their younger players with respect and give plenty of advice to new pilots. When encountering our allies in space I've felt those same warm feelings on both sides. It's a shame that the truth of our generally good nature has somehow become muddled in the eyes of some players.

Given that we are trying to change, or more correctly going back to normal, a little support would be very welcome rather than constant doubting. We've been acting terrible for so long that it's a bit much to ask that all our members change overnight. I'm sure any words of encouragement would go a long way to helping those that take longer to revert to our true direction.

I see them carried away headlong, grim and obsessed, in the general onrush of the human herd, unable to stop themselves or to change their direction.
This is how I've seen goons for some time now. But recent events have caused us to reflect on how we've interacted with the eve community over the last couple of years. And I think in the upcoming year you'll see something different from goonswarm.

Why would "hard core" gamers be averted to the teaching of our lord and savior. I once thought that bringing e-missery and e-pain was funny. I also thought using racial epithets and saying "Rape" were funny. But Jesus showed me that what I was doing was wrong, that I was hurting people. I talked to my youth pastor and he had me introduce him to the rest of Goonfleet. Within a few weeks, we began daily studies.

Originally by: Traumatica Indeed, there is a significant amount of vitriol between not only new players and older players, but between other groups of players in general. I cannot but help ponder the significance of this when applied to a broader social view. It saddens me when I think of those who will come after me, and what they will miss out on. They may never know the love of a forming conga-line around a gate with your enemy. They may never know the true happiness I experience when I know another will use my modules even after he killed me. It is a shame. In closing, I'd like to share with you some lyrics that I feel we should all take to heart, Whitney Houston's "The Greatest Love of All"
Did you know that Whitney Houston's debut LP, called simply Whitney Houston had 4 number one singles on it? Did you know that, Dafuzz? It's hard to choose a favorite among so many great tracks, but "The Greatest Love of All" is one of the best, most powerful songs ever written about self-preservation, dignity. Its universal message crosses all boundaries and instills one with the hope that it's not too late to better ourselves. Since, Althair Erin, it's impossible in this world we live in to empathize with others, we can always empathize with ourselves. It's an important message, crucial really. And it's beautifully stated on the album.
I believe the children are our future Teach them well and let them lead the way Show them all the beauty they possess inside Give them a sense of pride to make it easier Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be
And if by chance, that special place That you've been dreaming of Leads you to a lonely place Find your strength in love
Myself I'm inspired by this thread and message of kindness to spread my appreciation of Phil Collins and Genesis.
Do you like Phil Collins? I've been a big Genesis fan ever since the release of their 1980 album, Duke. Before that, I really didn't understand any of their work. Too artsy, too intellectual. It was on Duke where Phil Collins' presence became more apparent. I think Invisible Touch was the group's undisputed masterpiece.
It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums. Listen to the brilliant ensemble playing of Banks, Collins and Rutherford. You can practically hear every nuance of every instrument. In terms of lyrical craftsmanship, the sheer songwriting, this album hits a new peak of professionalism. Take the lyrics to Land of Confusion. In this song, Phil Collins addresses the problems of abusive political authority.
In Too Deep is the most moving pop song of the 1980s, about monogamy and commitment. The song is extremely uplifting. Their lyrics are as positive and affirmative as anything I've heard in rock. Phil Collins' solo career seems to be more commercial and therefore more satisfying, in a narrower way.
Especially songs like In the Air Tonight and Against All Odds. But I also think Phil Collins works best within the confines of the group, than as a solo artist, and I stress the word artist. Traumatica, please listen to Sussudio, a great, great song, a personal favorite!

We are wandering a little bit, let's try to stay on track. The scope of this discussion is very broad, so it shouldn't be too hard to stay within the bounds while still focusing on the issue you find personally engaging.
Right now the major points that have been made are:
Many people are still influenced by past conflicts
There is an opportunity to escape collective grudges by taking a stand as new pilots for what we believe in- a more friendly EVE galaxy.
We are eliciting everyones thoughts on a NRDS policy- how they feel about it personally and for their corporation or alliance.
The outsiders view of our corporation is badly distorted, and we want to rectify it, as what people think of our corporation or alliance tends to stain their impression of us as individuals.
The holiday season is an excellent time for this kind of discussion, as long as we can remain somewhat focused.
And always, always, always this has been about empowering the individual. This forum is a great place for individuals to let their voices be heard. I am still hoping that people will come into this thread and announce that they are new pilots- like myself- who are interested in this kind of dialogue. Older players are of course welcome, but this is about a revolution in attitude, so before you post a lot of vitriol please re-examine your position.

I guess what opened my eyes up was some poster talking about how his feelings had been hurt by my forum posts. I wouldn't want my brosef getting seriously harmed by anything I wrote on a message board, so poasting bad stuff on a forum is hypocritical. From there, it is a short flight to reconsidering the nature of goonspace. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Lets grant a general amnesty for past poasting behavior, and let everyone start 08 with a clean slate. That should be our new motto!!!
08 with a clean slate!!!
