Didn't pwn come about because some game servers banned typing 'owned' as a taunt?

That one is an urban legend. One of the details out of those you list is true but she wasn't driving and the cup was closed. She was burned by the paper.

I stand corrected...
Note that I'm not disputing whether burning yourself with coffee and getting a fortune in damages is over the top. But it's one of those stories that gets better every time it's told. I suffered burns over most of my legs from cocoa as a child. It was knocked over by someone else and all. Nobody got sued.
I understood that, I also feel that one story gets modified with each telling in no way diminishes that if you have an "Offended" person, a Lawyer and a Judge then you have the makings of a Lawsuit... Oh, and that Companies go out of their way to try to protect themselves as best they can.

Lawsuit abuse
This is why there are filters, this is what you may be opening CCP up to when you avoid the filter...
Then again, it could be some other game fuction or item that someone takes them to court over...

For the neccesary protection CCP could keep the filter in place on public access on the boards, then when logged in it should be made a choice. This way sensible people can choose to turn the filter off. For underage clients i'll turn to my earlier statement on parental responsibility. Make the feature password protected. For the overprotective kind of parent only their own responsibility to protect their children's actions remains.

When the word censor gets updated, I suggest that a word be added to the filter;
