Please keep all your comments/opinions regarding the Patch in this thread.
Other threads posted on this board with regards to the Patch will be locked
And guys, keep it civil please.
UPDATE: Martinus Crimson:
Quote: Ok here is a little bit from me to get some things straight, cause people keep opening new topics about it.
- The 0.0 Sec hit is a BUG. And only occurs in a limited amount of systems in 0.0 (the systems close to empire). If you lost SS to this bug, petition it and it should get fixed
- You are STILL able to shoot cruise-missiles/torpedoes if you allready had the skill, just make sure you train Heavy Missile and Standard missile to 3 before you train the cruise-missile/torpedo skill up further.
- Systems Security Status' are now rounded rather then truncated, so what use to be a 0.46 is now a 0.5 system.
Just watch yourself if your in one of those systems.
Please lets all keep our heads cool, and bear with the dev's. We know that the first 24H after a patch are always a bit of a struggle.
Tho i got to give em a big thumbs up, all with all a good new patch and some very cool new POI in 0.0 space

could you please make the *ping* sound when the gate cloak deactivates and the weapons activate optional? I normaly keep my sound on while semi afk traveling, so I hear when I get atacked. but if the ping stays, I doubt I''l be keeping my sound on in the future... so it''s more of a bad thing than a good thing...
for the rest... seems the patch is working good sad thing on the miner II''s but it''s probably beter in the long run...

The skill raises should have been advertised much more. I have no problem with the miner II one. (can't comment on the other one, don't use torps yet) But some warning (much like the "firmware upgrade for sentry guns" comment) would have made it much less of a black box.
Also the dock bug is back. Everything else seems fine so far (although some have mentioned inability to accept missions they don't have space for)

So far I haven't disagreed with any of the changes made just the implementation of the changes. Is there any reason why there can't be forewarnings of any changes in the skills that will effect existing abilities and hardware on our ships

In regards to the changes in skill requirements, they make sense to me.
However there is no reason why we couldn't be informed ahead of time so that we could of planned ahead for this.

The missile skill changes suck, then again was waiting for something to happen with it. Just gotta train skills sooner then I expected hehe.
As for mining laser change, thank god. This should of been a long time ago to meet tech 2 mod requirements. Besides that this will only affect those n00b miners to take a day or two instead of around an hour to train the skill. All serious miners already should of had the skill to begin with.
Now as for the security hits in 0.0 space wtf?? Why have a security hit in 0.0 for targeting and firing on someone?? Its a -0.1 sec hit which well make most of any alliance in 0.0 space having a -9.9 rating in a few days if that with all the wars going on. Its 0.0 space, concord doesn't control it and doesn't care about what happens out here since they don't patrol it. Please change it. Fear The Bunny

From what I know of the changes they make sense to be but I do agree, it would be nice to be informed about this ahead of time.
But Get rid of that annoying beep. if you play the game long enough you know when you can use stuff, that beep is more of an annoyance than a help.

The sec status change for 0.0 combat seems fine to me. If you're a pirate in 0.0 space then you're a pirate in 1.0 space too. You may not get punished in 0.0 space but that doesn't mean you're any less of a threat.
This is assuming all combat is piracy of course, which may not necessarily be the case.

Edited by: Thorion Mortisfilius on 18/03/2004 15:53:16 I guess I can be classified in the newbie category (even though I really don't feel like a noob). But I do consider myself a serious miner and, unfortunately, I'm not at the level of training anything above what is immediately needed.

I will say two things about this new patch, to make it quick so I can get back to playing: MinerII needing a high mining level was expected by me. I ahve trained a high mining level anyway and am glad for this change. I have mining level III and I'll start training level IV immediately. The new ability to set modules online and offline in space - it's like CPP are reading my mind. I was just thinking yesterday about how it's silly that you can fit all these mining lasers and guns on the ship, but have to dock to turn the lasers off and guns on. This is certainly a well recieved patch by me.

The Miner 2 "fix" is wreaking havoc on medium/low skill mining corps everywhere. Some of us won't be able to mine for a full day now - some even more than that.
These things should be advertised, I mean it's not OUR job to send mass-emails to our corp members informing them why their miner 2's no longer work and that they must wait until tomorrow night to mine. You have any idea how boring Solitude is when mining isn't an option?
Seriously though, this borders on neglect. Some of our users aren't in daily, so the turnaround involved with getting miner 2's functional again could kill their entire week-end. Please CCP, don't do cretinous stuff like this in the future... it's human to make mistakes but come on - this hits hardest agains new players.
Thanks for your time,
/Eugen

It's about time that people took security status hits where ever the aggression took place. The reason is simple: Regional alliance does not have any higher 'ethical ground' than PC pirates. If you want to 'defend' an area, pay the price for it.
Keep on flaming, lamers.

Is your accept agent mission button seemingly broken?
I petitioned this and got a response in less than 30 seconds..
Hi. This seems to be a problem with the "warning about the missions items not fitting in your cargo" being invisible. Please try to have as much cargospace available in your active ship as possible before accepting the mission..
There's your workaround...and mucho kudos to CCP for an astounding response time.

I just got my new Dominix and had hoped to pay my corp the full amount this week already. Top that off with some insurance and you'll see why I don't like miner 1's instead of 2's. I don't have unlimited time to play every week, you guys.
Still, for ME it will just take a day and a half to be back with using Miner 2's - I'm mostly complaining for my friends who sometimes indulge in a bit of ninja mining etc.
Apart from that it's just a matter of principle. If you can use up page after page of news space with Khuumak crap that doesn't affect the gameplay at all and is just there so that some intern can try his/her hand at writing a chronicle, you can advertise a change that will force people to change their routines for at least a day.

One step forwards, two backwards. The docking issue is really very poor form. It seems to me that released from the pressure of a large publisher pushing for better quality control and professional communications with users, and with the over-confidence born from a growing player base, the developers are slipping back into their old ways. A cheerful and chaotic approach to configuration management may make for a relaxed working environment in Iceland, but when it results in the regular re-publishing of old bugs, then it is time to get a grip.
