Edited by: Jayad on 19/03/2004 02:33:54 I am STUNNED about the sec hits in 0.0
What the hell were they thinking. I meen really how the hell do they think this is benificial for the game.
This is actually quite damaging, I can forsee more alt use, fed up alliance veterans, disheartened 0.0 miners. If the change is to make people more aware in 0.0 space, this change is horribly ill informed. Everyone knows (Including New players) that if you enter 0.0 (Lawless space) then expect to be on alert and treat other pilots as a threat untill proven otherwise.
Well i would say "yeah get rid of this sec hitting", but i fear not! Im confident that the problems this will cause will promptly make you roll back this feature. Cause and effect, just see what happens :)

Sorry, I posted this to its own forum... Polaris feel free to yank it.
My main gripes are
1) Pinging noise (which was already removed on chaos, so be patient everyone).
2) Docking often does not work at first try.

Edited by: Seth Argon on 19/03/2004 03:12:33 Edited by: Seth Argon on 19/03/2004 03:11:31 The skill requirement change is awesome. Even though I took the pipe on the missle thing. The sec. statis change in 0.0 is ****. Plus a warning about the skill thing would have been nice. All in all good job on patch but the 0.0 change has to go! P.S. If anyone complains that noobs cant use miner II's now...then too bad. I played quite some time before miner II's even existed!

I had the same problem and might have a fix. A while ago I added a line to my prefs.ini file that let you have additional graphic options:
advancedDevice=1
After I removed the line, I could view my preferences again.

Damn ping sucks but is apparently defo getting sorted, nice one (you potheads!).
Sentry guns in deepest 0.0 are whacking people who commit acts of aggression, an alliance member targeted me and activated a jamming mod, 10 secs later he was at 10% armour and just warped out!
Sec status needs fixing like immediately.
Not enough advertisement of some of the content changes (particularly skill changes) in advance. Didn't affect everyone but I've spent the whole evening explaining it to the corp. Not everyone reads the forums, some creative thinking on comms is needed (spam evemails ingame, billboards etc.. we need some way to get the message to the members in the community who aren't so sad tehy sit reading the forums all day.
Docking with browser open causes all windows to dissappear and you're just sat looking at your ship and nothing else in station.
Otherwise just dandy

Sec. status is quite a bug, yes.. but what about missing stargates to and out of LOR? That's loss of functionality.
Mining laser requirements are great change.. i'm training lvl4 now, but i like that.. and i expect we'll need lvl5 for Miner3.
Docking bug is back again.. how embarassing:)
Anyway.. we'll get hotfix today, hopefully these issues get fixed by it.

Ho great an other nerfing patch !
The "blip" sound when you jump which indicate that your modules are activated make the current soundtrack crash if : - u make a right click in space - u drag your mouse over the UI ( modules, power core etc ) - even if u press ALT+Fx ( shortcut for modules )
Its very annoying, make an option which enable us to activate/desactivate this horrible "blip"
Why do we take sec hit when we pvp in 0.0 space ? If we lose sec status, give us a way to regain it ! NPC hunting gives almost nothing ...
Hey guys prepare yourself for the next patch, power relay is the next victim of the nerfball
One more thing, i havnt see any advertissement of the patch on the eve-online.com, why ?

Found another bug that noone seems to be talking about. If you try and select multiple items using the control key it only works if the said items are in the same row. Once you change rows you unselect your previously selected items. Very annoying when cleaning up stations.
I hope to **** you fix all these bugs today! Zaque Zundu

I have a simple question... Why does ccp change stuff when nobody requested the change ? I can understand if they make something better.
Imo ccp should only fix bugs and add a new feature (as requested by eve players) or two in patches.
I hate the new patch full stop.

I used to be in a Thorax until just recently and five Miner 2s yielded alot more ore than i could keep up with anyway so i decided to wait with the mining skill for a bit and train other skills in the meantime.
It's not the skill change that bothers me but the fact that they just come and snatch the carpet right under peoples feet like that without any word in advance giving people any chance of advance planning whatsoever.
I like the change in skill requirements this time around but alot of people in my corp hit theire head hard, including me, and I'm sure we're not alone. And I'm still quite pissed about that, so please please CCP, give us a small notice on the main page a couple of days ahead the next time you decide to make major changes in the skill requirements and gameplay like that. I'm sure you didn't think about these changes right before downtime yesterday so, once again, please keep us posted.
Oh and lastly, remove that damned *BLEEP* already, before i hack the .stuff files myself and remove it by force. Thank you.

The ping is a minor distraction for me, I only hear it when winamp is between tracks.
The minerII skill boost makes perfect sense, if you consider the skills needed to use other techII modules.
Anyone complaining that they can't mine because of it, is a liar. miner1's, and rare miner1's are still about, and they still work.
I haven't come across the agent problem yet, but a workaround has already been posted.
the sec hit in 0.0 is a bug. It would be suicidal for CCP to implement such a setting. (although immense fun, until half the playerbase left (and gave me their stuff))
Haven't had any autopilot trouble yet, either.
The docking is the main problem as far as I see it. Also, undocking still sucks a nut.
When you undock, you should be spawned randomly at the edge of the docking ring, pointing away from the station. Most ships don't fit in the 'proper' undocking holes anyway, so just stop trying to use them, and pop us out in space. It will be no less realistic that seeing my megathron slowly work it's way out the side of an amarr station. And some stations don't even have these-psuedo docking bays anyway.
As for the docking bug... no suggestions, just put it back to how it was, please.

So rather than just flat-out removing it, could you add it as an option in the escape menu? .

Seems like one of the biggest bugs in the patch has been its ability to cause mass hystronics in the 'whiner' underground, which btw is the smallest yet most vocal minority.
How about instead of moaning about how ccp sucks and the devs are whatever you play the game and think about it for awhile. A good number of the posts on this thread are obviously from people who havent even played the patch yet.
Heres an idea for a new feature: tie the ingame block list into the forum. It's pure agony wading through all this pointless whineing looking for scraps of useable information. ----------------------------------

Quote: The sec status change for 0.0 combat seems fine to me. If you're a pirate in 0.0 space then you're a pirate in 1.0 space too. You may not get punished in 0.0 space but that doesn't mean you're any less of a threat.
This is assuming all combat is piracy of course, which may not necessarily be the case.
Uhh... lemme guess, you don't pvp? It is 0.0 (as in zero-dot-zero) space, meaning, free for all. With limited number of war slots and these changes alliance warfare has been badly nerfed. It is quite stupid. You don't like the deal in 0.0? Stay the hell out if it then.

Ok, so now we have effectively crated 2 Eve worlds (even tho on same server). Carebearland in 0.5+ and lawless land 0.4-. People in alliances will all have -9.9 in no time, and chances of getting that back are zip. Which means no more mega and zyd for carebearland, except what they can refine from ECM Bursts.
Fine with me, then, Ill join the gang in 0.0, most of the corps are self-sufficient and have all blueprints. The empire people will mine like 5 months to buy a thorax, because mega will cost like 100K ISK. Fine.
Roid respawn bugs don't have to be dealt with, since everybody is mining in imicus (only the Ragnar personality types can pimp around in thorax). Problem solved.
In all its "wisdom" CCP has foreseen one thing, tho. The carebears will soon start to protest that they want battleships too (to effectively mine veldspar in 0.9). They will also argue that they need concord in 0.0 space (alliance people having -9.9 sec rating won't give a toss about carebears and will pod them on sight, what's to lose).
Then CCP will nerf 0.0 once again and introduce Elite CONCORD Task Force, and everybody with -9.9 will get insta-podded over and over again, until they all cancel their accounts and start playing that other new MMORPG that came out in meantime.
Epilogue: 1000 carebears mining in all of the Eve galaxy, and NPC's are hauling for them, instead of attacking. CONCORD is smoking dope and podding each other out of share boredom. There are no warfare modules in Eve anymore, people have evolved beyond violence, thus effectively ending endless debates of why CCP hates Caldari & Missiles. Everybody else plays something else. CCP sits with 1000 customers and wonder WTF happened.
The End. --

Rather than that annoying and as far as I can tell rather useless 'ping', could we please have something *useful* like a clear (but preferably non-annoying/intrusive) indication when your ship has come out of warp and may now start trying to target things already displayed on your scanner without spawning a need-to-be-clicked 'you're still in warp' box.
Skill changes don't affect me but I'll second those who've said it's very bad player relations. There's no urgent reason why Miner-II skill requirement changes needed to be in this patch rather than the next, so no reason (apart from lack of thought!) for not giving people adequate warning. Sure, there are workarounds (Miner-Is, named tech 1 etc.) but that misses the point - discourteous and unnecessary lack of player communication.
Oh, and I *really* didn't appreciate getting into my first kill mission last night and finding that only 3 of my weapons would activate. (Not a problem I've had before this patch so I'm assuming it's linked to the online/offline addition). I'm just glad it was an easy mission and 3 were enough!

Patch notes translated...
New additions;
We are re adding the docking bug again this is called bastard.py we decided to add it again as head on collisions with space stations are amusing...
We have added an annoying sound to the jump gates and made your icons flash this is a test of patience we just want to see how long u can last in space ;)
Changes Made
We no longer want people to mine so we have maxed out all the required skills the asteroids where petitioning about being abused
We have taken away all the decent missiles and torpedoes as we think the explosions are to loud ... not that you should be able to here them in space anyway ...
People seem to like the cruiser ships so we have decided to make them work for them by upping certain ships required skills
Some jump gates where just to convenient so they have been disabled until at least one hundred people petition
Changes to combat
We would like to move the PVP orientation of this game round to a more friendly form of play, as such we would like everyone to fly shuttles and do our reward less courier missions please note all forms of combat will result in sentry gun fire
Changes to Sentry Guns
We have maxed security in all space by emplacing eight sentry guns to a jump gate in the future we plan to up there range to 10,000km and make them shoot any ship with a gun
We hope our changes (most of which where recommended by st JamesÆs infant school) will not inconvenience our players in any way if they do please donÆt petition as this distracts the developers and causes more bugs
Thanks
CCP
