I like Eve too, but there are a lot of reasons which i will describe in brief, as to why WOW, a great game that has been around for many a year, is supperior, but not greatly supperior, to EVE, which in itself is a very good game and a milestone accomplishment, to say the least, even though the trinity patch had some problems which don't need to be revived in this thread, a thread, i might add, that will probably be accused of flaming and trolling and trying to cause trouble, when in fact all I'm trying to do is get opinions as to how people feel about EVE and WOW and the merits and demerits of each respective game.

Eve is superior for these reasons: 1. pvp and a brutal death penalty. 2. the best skilling system ever invented which effectively means you are playing even when at work. 3. the player driven storyline and the goals you can head for are far far more varied, meaningful and tough to achieve than anything wow has to offer. 4. dwarves and any kind of midget give me the willies. if the above reasons are meaningless to you then go play wow... Having contacts with dozens of other people is required to retain entertainment. EVE is a sandbox. Do what you want to improve your character. There is no escalating path that forces everyone in one direction (Jita not withstanding ). The games are not comparable. Like and dislike do not dictate superiority of one object over another. It is simply based on perspective, and what one finds enjoyable. Apples and oranges, that sort of thing.

Its basically exactly the same as normal servers but with a little bit added ganking outside raidinstances when you wait for your team to arrive. And the little bit of pvp you get is utterly pointless and has no consequences. Since you claim wow is so great why dont you tell us the things that makes it great instead of just coming with a statement that will only attract flames. Luckily for both Blizzard and CCP the epic ineptitude of major game companies in doing this has exceeded their failure to innovate for a long time now.

I loved UO for the fact that they made a world and you choose how YOU wanted to play in it. I tried wow, leveled the toons, did the group raids and didn't like it because I was forced to play the way others wanted to play and there really is no solo wow things to do at 70 where the real wow game starts. So far I love Eve, I have been mostly solo, learning the game and training skills. I did get the chance to loot a corp which is always fun. But for the most part we are given a world which we pick how we want to play. You can care-bear it up, or yar it up. I played around with a pirate corp using an alt and ganked hauls and miners, I mine and I trade and do mission running. I also can set a skill for a week and leave without falling behind. Eve is just what you make of it I think soon I will try for a big (active) corp as empire is getting smaller and smaller and those jita haulers will just bring out the devil in me. PS I tryed to break up the wall of text, I do hate those.

All of those reasons are typical of Any-Other-MMORPG vs EVE. They are not WoW specific. WoW does what it does very well, which is why it is the only MMO ever considered for comparison to EVE. EVE "forces" you into a position where you WILL interact with other players, be it at the end of their gun or in a corp. The social aspect of EVE wins everytime in my opinion. WOW could easily be played on a console... Spaceships > nightelves of course
warrior009	Posted - 2008.01.04 04:27:00 - [23] The first MMO game I played was this game, and that was back when eve started actually i was in the final stages of beta... but I leave to go other games, like planetside, cov/coh, I played a little everquest, did some World of Warcraft shoot countless other games and I have to say that out of all the mmo games Eve is number 1. Because Even though I leave and come back to this when I come back I can jump right back into the game and be like O theres some new stuff o well. Plus theres no end it seems to the skills theres always somthing you can learn and use for your strat or corp or w/e. The second tho was Planetside before they did all the nerfing...and brought the *** exspansion out but besides that out of all the games Eve is the smallest too that I know of. but like the one person said up above Eve and WOW are 2 totally different games, one is a Build a guy that everyone else can build and the other is everyone is different, lol eve being everyone is different. 2 people starting at the same time might be in the same field and get all the same skills, gear, and ships but they will still be different.. (Ok thats a not a good exsample because they would "tech" be the same lol... IM sure you all get what im trying to say!!

Dez Affinity Ore Mongers R0ADKILL	Posted - 2008.01.04 04:51:00 - [27] WoW's PvE is boring, "Collect 5 Buffalo Wings!", next quest, "Collect 5 Buffalo Wangs!". Wait what? It's pretty much that way all the way through, so I decided oh well PvE is crappy, I'll level up, get some items and do me some PvP. There seemed to be no room for skill in PvP, everybody's a twink (also wtf at the name twink, who coined that for WoW?), whoever had the best items won, pretty much always. Well okay, I'll just avoid the battlegrounds until I have the best weapons in the game too. So I go to grief some guys in the Neutral Zones, can't find anybody for ages, half the time I sat there whining. Every now and then some level 70 would hop off his flying mount, one hit kill me then camp my corpse, fair enough he's griefing me like I was going to do. Although I was going to do it in a zone with people around my level. So lack of people in these zones that I can fight, I came to the conclusion the PvP is pretty sub par over all. It's pretty funny that most people only PvP in WoW to get honour, to get better items. Lot's of times you just see bots in arena, instead of PvP to be enjoyed, people are just trying to achieve goals. Maybe achieving goals is their enjoyment but most people I've seen play it, don't even enjoy levelling their characters. So, yeah. I dislike WoW. It's graphics are unbearably cartoony, clearly aimed at a young demographic. PvE is repetative with no real aspirations, since the only reason people PvP is to get even better items. I'm not saying EVE's PvE isn't repetative, it is, but at least the PvP is enjoyable, you go into a fight and risk losing something, in WoW you just die, spend half an hour running to your corpse then die again, then die again, then die again. You don't even care, exept the fact you have to keep running back. Also my ghost died on WoW, that ****ed me off too, how can a ghost die... you're a ghost, you are dead. _______________
