Actually... If you are comparing maximum performance as a balance indicator and don't want to make excessively long posts that no-one will read due to "OFMGWOTDNR" you make numbers accoaring to lvl 5 skills.
but only a small percentage of the eve populace has perfect lvl5 skills for setup Y or setup X. thus the reasoning behind "all lvl5 skills" becomes a moot. sure it shows the maximum potential of the ship, but if you're setting up the ship, do you use the "all lvl5 skills" or do you use the skills you have? ---

Simply for conviniences sake its assumed that all skills at level 5 will benefit one ship as much as it benefits another so the result can be scaled down to any skill level.
Of course there are individual examples where certain ships require more training to use effectively than others but generally talking about exactly how many skills and at what level a pilot is likely to have just leads to pedantic quibbling much like that in this post and doesnt get much done in the long term (if anything can be said to in a public forum).

Is it just me or is everyone in this thread missing one small but significant point? That being the dread costing like twice what the carrier costs? So even if the Moros is a better support ship than the Thanatos (which without looking at numbers at least at short ranges is fairly likely imho), this probably is not nearly worth the additional cost.
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

Originally by: Kissapasi I have been doing some very secret calculations today.
First, look at the setups below: Moros & Thanatos
The aim of those setups were to create ship that does dps and has two capital remote reppers while being fairly cap stable. Aka the role of a carrier.
To my surprise, Thanatos was completely outclassed in nearly every field by its counterpart dread, Moros.
What is the point of getting Thanatos when you can get ship that has nearly double its dps, tank and cap recharge while still running two capital remotes? You can make moros completely immune to e-war also! Moros can be run in non-sieged mode when there is no incoming dps or ewar, but when the worst happens, it can be made an super tank!
As conclusion, we can clearly see why Thanatos is really obsolate. Moros can do its role better with carrier setup while still being able to transform to pos/capital -killer with another fit!
Discuss.
Hmmm, EFT ... and that is why you fail !
I feel bad to see a good program used as such by some inept morons. :(

Comparing the Moros and the Thanatos is like comparing apples and paper. You eat one of them and write on the other. Different purposes, most of them not involving combat at all, and they each are better than the other at those purposes. ---

Edited by: Jonny JoJo on 09/01/2008 09:45:15 Moros drones are UNBALANCED
Remove this 50% per LEVEL drone bonus to stop 1200dps drones and replace it with a bonus that helps moros turrets. I hear 10% cap use per level is a favorate one. Just saying, thats all...
This was abroken legacy of eve of 2005 and should be fixed now. Be honest - Moros is OVERPOWERED as it can take on any shiptype that light drones can hit, due to its MASSIVE 50% per level drone bonus. This is wrong and there is NO real reason why the Moros should not have its bonus changed to a pos/capital shooting bonus.

So I need to represent a new challenge: Moros setup part 2
Make me a carrier (preferably thanatos) setup that is able to perma-run 3*capital remote reps while having a 2800dps+ tank and 1200dps. (2 million effective hp with lg slaves on top of that). Smartbomb is required for drone countering.
(No avatars in gang or gang bonuses, this is calculated without.)
And that is with t2/faction only.
thanatos,i cannot get it up to that dps, however i swapped how much it tanks with dps...
highs:3x capital remote reps,2x true sansha energy vamps. mids:1x capital shield booster,1xDG shield boost amp 2x DG invuls 1x DG photon scattering. lows:6x true sansha power relays. rigs:2x CCCII 1x CCCI(you said tech 2 ). tanks 2723,produces 1250 and runs perma.
Now heres the deal, carriers are much different then dreads, sure you can get a dread more cap stable...But you cannot rep the from the same range, assign your drones, actually hit with max dps, etc. Signature removed. Contains no Eve content. Navigator ([email protected]) |

dude you just fit an amplifier with 6 power relays, thats a waste. Anyway why are you trying to shield tank it? Thanatos slot allotment is ment for armour tanking.
I don't fly capitals yet, so I will not pretend no know how to fit them, but I can say all of the ones I've seen here have been horribly wrong. If we are going to go on about ******** setups, then how about this?

This guy asked for that type of setup and i gave him what EFT said as he's obviously playing EFT rather then eve,i would never setup a thanatos like that but in order to follow those before said specifications it called for shield tanking. Hello, I just did a new setup for moros. Moros, 4 remotes
How about perma running FOUR capital remotes while dealing 1100dps+ and tanking 3000?
I think moros is still the winner.

Can't you people see the point in this thread? After I started browsing through this thread in a ferrocolossal boredom, ready to faintly turn into gorridiumcolossal boredom, I realised you people are insufficient to find the point in this thread.
You should spend some time, thinking about the point in here. I personally realised the point, it was crystal clear like a pond in midst of a thick forest, frozen up like the brains of yours.
In the end if you can't understand why this thread is here, you should all go and post something even faintly smart. I should now say something about your mothers, that would be horrible and totally inhuman, but I won't.
Have a nice day, really.

If nobody ever realises and points it out in an obvious fashion itll be incredibly traumatic to the OP hence we're all going along with it in a variety of cruel mass conspiracy in the hope that this will incur an epiphany and possibly encourage him to join a nunnery. That you didnt realise this fact shows your personal ineptness and i have to say on cold winter nights there will be a warm place in my heart just for you.

Please explain how thanatos setup is more effective than moros when the fight is happening under 15km range. I see moros beating it in nearly every possible way.

Good luck that you arent my fc, since it looks like you cant use any sensible arguments to back up your opinion. Aggressive beahivour makes me unable to see your point btw.
The thread's point is to compare Moros and Thanatos as a support ship. It also has a great value of surprise to have a moros as support, since none will expect it. Not that it performs bad at all, it actually outperforms thanatos under 15km.

how much capital fights go under range of 15 km and your " outperforming " idea is not that good actually i don't see single spot where moros would outperform thanatos as a support ship

As you know, many remote rep gangs work under this range anyways, so the moros could provide them with excellent support. Under close ranges the Ogre II:s dont have to travel far, so their slower speed isn't a problem.

My experience shows that in capital gangs, let alone fastmoving support, even the 52km of a carrier is *not* enough oftentimes.

If the fleet is doing what it should be, no one should be warping out anyways. If you drift because of lag, thats your own fault for not stopping the ship.
And tbh, this setup is more aimed at smaller skirmishes with capital support than a 0.0 lagfestblob-borefights.

The damage is just added bonus of course. Triage module holds you up for 10 minutes. In untriaged/sieged mode, moros repairs 2*more than the thana does. If you want to rep more in carrier, please show me a sensible setup that runs 5* capital remote.

How about a situation when everything is prepared and you sit under 1000m from each other? Plan more and use tactics so you dont have to fail with range.
