Yes, even if it's actually a bit older than this character.
Vaerah Vain would have been my main but as I realized I'd need a pilot in hi sec and one for PvPing in low / null sec I created Vaerah Vahrokha. Both were and still are almost photocopy characters (skills wise).

You did? I think I missed it.
Thank you for clarifying that Vaerah Vahrokha = Vaerah Vain.

I've sent a 'small' donation to the fund, as I'm unsure when I'll be back from the current round of 'vacation.'
Good luck, and I'll continue to watch things from outside. I may have come here from Myst Online, but that does not make me any less bloodthirsty than the average Eve player.
Just more subtle.

Thank you!
I'll check how much it is and will report about it both in the Donors list and the monthly accounting statements. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

A truly GREAT month for VAERT!
Highlights for the month of July:
- Updated balance sheet, Donors list and Sister Funds NAVs are out.
- We are back to above 50B unrealized base fund NAV.
- VAERT received a nice donation from Alain Kinsella.
- Miss Boobz sent some well appreciated donation as well.
- Samroski keeps showing off as the best long standing Fund Manager, not only he keeps sending regular updates but he keeps adding more ISK!
- Rykker Bow's bond has brought several donations. In particular RAW23 and Liberty Eternal keep contributing, they are some VAERT Vets, we are honored for their continued involvement.
More than 4B donated in one summer month show that VAERT is quiet but still alive and kicking!

Changes in accounting
A message both for the Donors and CCP (in case they want to check the records): since June the donations are being processed on a whole "up to the last day of previous month" basis. The old method, while preserving each individual Donor name across the whole chain (from VAHCO or VAHFT to VAERT and various wallets inside each) created 4-6 times as many accounting records across 2-3 corporations. Moreover it did not define precise month boundaries, leading to error prone and not the razor sharp end of month accounting I desired.
Therefore now the donations are accrued in the VAERT Master wallet and bulk moved in the master fund dedicated wallet. The donations that come after the end of the previous month statement are left on the master wallet till the next month.
Example: Grendell sometimes sends RAW23's donation's rate on 28-30 of the month, sometimes on 1-2 of the next month. With the previous accounting we'd get both in the same statement and zero ISK in the master wallet.
With the new one, the rates that "slip" beyond the end of the current accounted month are left on the master wallet and only the donations that effectively arrived from day 1 to 31 are summed up and then moved to the master fund wallet.
In case of RL emergency I will consolidate the yet-to-transfer ISK and move it all to the master fund wallet and then bulk donate to CCP. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

Donors list and balance sheet updated for the month of September 2012.
Curious detail: if I turned everything, including the Long Term Receivables, into PLEX, I could get about 101 PLEXes.
101 PLEXes at 19.95 (euros, but I think they convert to $19.95 if I lived in the USA) means 2014.95 euros / dollars.
Now, this is not a Rockfeller amount but it'd definitely help somebody, expecially for those emergency events that happen in poorer countries.
Just noting this down, so people can see that in appropriate numbers, we can reach out when needed and actually help real people with ISK we could have made just by boredly clicking PI or flipping orders.
And much of this comes from RAW23. How awesome some people can be. Auditing | Collateral holding and insurance | Consulting | PLEX for Good Charity

No, it's a very strictly accounted corp (see monthly updated PDF) that CCP may check any time, as their policy is very strict for this kind of charities. It's also famous enough that it'd be stupid to "launder money" or whatever, in fact CCP's CEO even showcased it at Fanfest 2011.
Finally, this is a video on Youtube proving every single ISK went into PLEX that got sent to CCP.

it would be nice if you could add the actual amounts in the top doners' list. people would be more motivated to participate.

I'm curious - are ISK donations that are converted to PLEX that are given to CCP who then give cash to charitable organizations...
Tax deductible as charitable donations on schedule A of my 1040 tax form? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZTzA_xesrL8 |

with regards to your fund.
Techfree Investment Group Via iCandy Bond #5 would like to donate a Modest 10% of my Profit (After paying back investors & their interest payments) for the month.
Should be in order of ~100m, ( i Said Modest )
Also: Free Bump! I've accidentally swallowed some Scrabble tiles. My next **** could spell disaster.

Why would anyone start a savings account when they could just not spend the money? Why do people pay for an unlimited minutes plan when they could save $10/month if they used the 1100min plan because they never use more than 800/month?
There is a higher mental cost with keeping some spare change around and be ready to donate than it is to just let VV handle it. |

1) Retirement. Some people may like to do something useful with their isk when they quit eve. This has been responsible for some of the donations to the fund.
2) Some people may not want to buy a whole plex when the plex for good thing next comes around (as a side not, it's been a while now; perhaps CCP is waiting for their own financial position to improve before they start charitable tax write-offs again).
3) The general benefits of a saving plan (as noted by Barakach).
4) Donating 'ahead of time' allows your donation to accrue additional earnings for the charitable endeavour before it gets spent. I believe my own donation has earned something like 5bil in interest for the fund since it was given.
5) There isn't much of a risk. a) CCP has said they will not tolerate the plex for good drives being used for scams because they have real world ramifications; b) VV has an excellent track record, including managing the donation of something like a hundred billion to the last drive; c) many people believe that VV is too stubbornly bloody-minded to even be capable of going against her word (whether this is a character flaw or a virtue is debatable).

On another note, hello to everyone and thanks for the kind words earlier in this thread. Sadly I'm not coming back to eve (yet) as work burdens don't allow it (another new job in another country starts in 6 months) but I do keep my eye on the MD forum every few weeks and will eventually come back if time ever permits. Couldn't resist wasting my 'hours for plex' on this particular question. Special hello to VV, Rykker, Grendell, Mme P (Vera?) and flakeys. And very sorry for not answering your email yet Rykker. I'm an *******. Got it at the start of my holiday when I had very patchy net access and I periodically remember I haven't replied and kick myself for it while not actually doing anything about it. Will do soon. o/ |
