I like amarr because i crosstrained gallente. Gallente does everything better on the cruiser level, and most things on the BS and Frig level.
The Thorax is COMPLETELY overpowered (does way more DPS than an omen) and the vexor is WAY better than an arby (i mean, TWO turrets on the arby LAWL). Lets not even start about the useless TDs, the nerfed NOS and the horribly boned tracking on pulse lasers.
The Mega is a capstable (!) sniper with a tank (!) while only doing like 20% less damage than an apoc, having the same range. The apoc runs inevitbaly out of cap in 6 minutes, because you need 3 lows for fitting mods for highest tier guns on it. Ridiculous.
Gotta hate the proph for having the least dps of all t1 BCs also.
I have amarr BS level 5 though, scince their capitals are decent.

I'm currently trained up for an interceptor and shooting for a Curse. I want to know why people do like Amarr.
It's awesome to kill people in what is regarded as a crap race. On the other hand, most ppl that complain should play the game more, and learn to adapt, amarr were meant to be a tough race. In truth, Amarr should be buffed a bit, even the devs have stated this on numerous ocasions, but not all ppl fit uber stuff, or have skills at level 5, or are knowledgeble about tactics and fits, like the forum trollers would like you to believe.
There is nothing sweater than killing your opponent while you lament in local about how under-powered you are. :)

In some ways the best Amarr ships are the khanid variants. Curse, Sacrilege, Malediction. The khanid ships have more mid slots and more flexibility. Standard Amarr ships are more like the Absolution, Zealot and Crusader. Great armor tanks, good resistances, lots of laser damage. But they lack midslots and their weapons systems are vulnerable to tracking disruptors and nos/neuts. When everything is going right and it's a simple matter of firing back and forth then the standard amarr ships shine. When you need to hammer someone down an absolution or harbinger is the hammer you need. A little more flexibility and a curse might just be your thing. Amarr ships have their uses. And right now they're not FOTM. So if you kill someone in an amarr ship you get style points!!

It's sad. really...
Yeah, my Sacrilege that can blast through a Myrmydon, two Drakes and a Brutix whilst having all its resists above 84% sucks. I have no idea why I fly it at all to be honest, a complete waste of isk and money. Suppose I'll just have to use my Abaddon that can obliterate Hyperions and Megas without breaking a sweat. Pilgrim that can shut down an Astarte anyone?
On second thoughts, don't touch Amarr ships, they are completely useless and you will never actually use them. Ever. Honest. A Gallente FNA pilot told me so

BUT, why is the BEST Amarr ship, the Sacrilege, also the ugliest? It's really a shame.

Edited by: Taraniis on 20/01/2008 11:35:50 It balances itself out see, if you get blown up by an ugly ship in a really horrible way people wont complain as they then have to explain how a really ugly ship just beat them. If you get ripped to bits by something really sexy like a Vindicator then immediately 17 different "zOmg Vindi pwns! Boost Amarr" threads get made.
Although tbh the Zealot could do a bit more damage (not too much, just make that extra high a turret mount) and the T1 cruisers need a looking at as they are really hard to fit out.

For Fun and Style.
Playing EvE Hard mode is yust so mutch more fun.
Also I realy have to say I like Lasers on a personal Level because of the good range with the moderate Tracking.
Omen and Prophecy are not that bad they are fun to fly seted up right. Nerf Lasers! Thay need far to less CPU and Grid to Fit. Still using not enught Cap and do far to mutch Damage. O wait... they allready did... =( |

stop saying good stuff about amarr, we wont get that boost that people have been whining for for months
awwww 44.5 days to a t2 fit abso, but there are other things to be done first, my t2 fit abaddon is sexier anyways
being the one of the first to lock and hit unhardened shields is just such a sexy feeling. hate flying with drakes/ravens, you hit once or twice and then boom huge missile alpha hits, depending on the ship there goes the kill mail
the 15km optimal + 10km fall off with short range high damage ammo makes for sexy gate camping. and since your gatecamping your speed doesn't mean much, 4 midslots is fine for scram/sensorbooster/capbooster + something else, fuk microwarp drives!

I like Amarr, because for intelligent and openminded people, Amarr BS are the best mission runners around. Good thing that these people are no more common in EVE than they are in the real world, else I guess Motsu would be somewhere else ;)
There is no 'n' in turret There is no 'r' in faction There is no 'a' in Scorpion There is no 'e' in Caldari There is no makeup in rogue drones |

maller - underrated cruiser can get 2 1600 rt plates (with t2 pulse lasers). it gives him about 13k hit points of pure pasive armor :) with resistances about 80% on level 5 skill and hardeners. :) i love it

NOS Nerfed helped the amarr ships by far more then hurting them, cap problems are due to the fact that the guns are designed to wipe out any shield tank within minutes, espically as we all know the passive drake 1v1 is a beast to take out but an amarrian ship can make it look easy, you gotta love that. They do have the *in my point of view* best armor tanks in game, nothing better then a good looking ship with huge armor resis and hard to break, also geddon is so sexy, my set up atm just does over 800dps and completely pwns but the abaddon if set up properly can do over a 1000dps. The RoF the geddon can get is ridiculous for large guns. the only problem is you do need alot of skill to fly amarr successfully, so my point of view is that if you get beaten by a amarrian pilot in a ship you believe to be crap obviously you just been beaten by overall a better pilot. People whine about them due to the fact that they can't seem to pilot them that good early into game and give up early. You want to be an amarr pilot you must stay as one until you hit about 15milll sp of good laser and armor skills and you will start to see how good these ships can be

This has been a good post so far and i agree fully that we amarrians look the coolest! we also have very skill intensive ships and for new players t1 fittings and ships can be hard to use effectively. some ships could do with boosts to make them on par with other races. (paladin is ****e in comparison to other races marauders) perhaps cos Apoc is gimped.
However we have had our moments, Geddon (cheap / high dps) Pulse laserzII Tm Absolution (pwnage) Harbinger (slightly less pwnage) Caps, Archon and Rev And Curse / Pilgrim (pre nerf) Arbi of course
anything Khanid MK II is officially weak and un amarrian as it requires blasphemous caldari missile skills.
besides that the Devoter has a fat tank and the Punisher is the most uber frig ever and always will be. everyone always underestimates the amarrian ;-)

That's why I crosstrained, as well. I couldn't believe the first time I fitted (and flew) a Myrmidon. Imagine, a cap stable boat that can tank and gank!
Originally by: Andreask14 The Thorax is COMPLETELY overpowered (does way more DPS than an omen) and the vexor is WAY better than an arby (i mean, TWO turrets on the arby LAWL). Lets not even start about the useless TDs, the nerfed NOS and the horribly boned tracking on pulse lasers.
Agree totally on the Thorax. That boat is sick! Since I'd already cross-trained earlier and now needed a cruiser PvP boat, I went back and checked everything out in the Amarr line. With the exception of the Arbie, everything sucks to fit and is inferior to the Thorax, by a wide margin. Imagine my surprise to find I could actually fit a Thorax WITH LASERS and get better DPS, better speed, better tank and better better cap stability than either an Omen or Maller. That's just.. sad.
[Thorax, PvP 259/6/1281/18K] 800mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I Damage Control II Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I 2x Heat Sink II
Y-T8 Overcharged Hydrocarbon I Microwarpdrive X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator J5 Prototype Warp Inhibitor I
5x Focused Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Multifrequency M
Hammerhead I x5
-- And that's 259 points of DPS with just the cheap guns fitted (ofc, drones make the difference). Plus 12-18000 points of effective tank, depending on whether you swap out the plate for a repper.
The problem with Amarr, as has been said ad nauseum, is lasers. Many of the boats themselves are either fine or could be improved with minor changes - if only laser cap usage were addressed.
And, to answer the OP, I chose Amarr (never having played an MMO before and knowing nothing of how gimped this race was) because the ships were sweet looking and the Amarr seemed like the badass overlords of EVE. Turns out that sound of cheering parades I thought I'd heard were really the sounds of Caldari, Gallente and Minimatar players lulzing at me. -- Meridius Dex --

I like amarr.. but.. I`m not flying any laser boats anymore. After 10.2mill SP wasted in gunnery. I realized that its ways more fun of flying these Khanid versions.
the only ships I use from amarr now are. curse sentinel sacrilege
..and I rally enjoy them. There is nothing wrong with the ships.. just devs made kind of grande mistake with the lasers. You saw the devs blog about the ship usage percentages. If amarr ships are at last place by using, then there is kind of problem. doenst matter how shini they are.
