I say competent, and I mean they have an FC who knows what they're doing, and the players follow him to a decent standard. They will never be great. Their EU TZ is an easy match for the majority of alliances out there, and therefore they will never take space from anyone that isn't bloody awful. Defensively, it's good for them. But they will never be an offensive alliance unless they continue to pick off the drone regions targets one by one. And personally, I can definately see the difference between smash and roadkill. Roadkill have stupid amounts of loyalty because I'd have gotten rid of smash as an ally months ago if I were them. As for next superpower...lets just let BoB see this through and then see what happens between the coalition members after --------------------------------------
