What I find the best part of this, is he recieved the isk before he actaully sent the GTC.
If he had then not sent the GTC, it's a perfectly legal scam, CCP tells the scammed that they were scammed and there is nothing that they'll do about it. (Unless this quasi-meta gamging scam ISN'T allowed while trading a Caracal named Cerberus is...)
But he lost all his money because he wasn't scamming.
It is a too-bad so-sad thing but clearly none of the forum goers give a **** besides stating that the GTC system is evil and should be abolished, work for your isk, etc. Which just goes to show that the unsympathetic jerk is the most successful achetype within eve pretty much.
I just wish with all these new hires that someone would actually get the job to keep the CONTENT of the website and guides up to date so things like that wouldn't happen. How much horribly antiquated pages are there on this site anyway?

I read this, and laughed. I just sent a friend of mine 500M isk for a loan. Did i just doom his account to negative by doing this? There are thousand of isk transfers per day without any goods. They would of found this one by noticing the hundreds (instead of thousands) of GTC movements.

Does this mean that if I ransom a char later convicted for isk selling on ebay, I may end up loosing the isk?

As far as I know they are trying their best to find someone who can actually read and write for that very purpose. They might find him soon(tm).

It would be interesting to know if the GTC buyers had their game time removed, they should have done if the transactions were illegal.
I agrre it is CCPs fault, the FAQ should tell you not to do what you did. |

That is pretty crappy. Whatever the opinions of what you did with the GTCs, CCP should get their **** together and post the rules in one location. With the forums being as ****** up as they are most of the times, having to rely on some obscure reference to a possible rule buried in a thread somewhere is probably one of the stupidest things I've ever heard of.

OK, I'd like to say I'm suprised at the numer of idiotic 'got what he deserves' posts in this topic. But that is not the point.
The point is we don't know why CCP say the ISK was removed - only a fairy ambigous indication from OP. Sounds to me like he was treated like an ISK buyer. I think the only way OP is getting any ISK back is to prove it was a GTC trade. This can easily be achieved by contacting CCP and providing the GTC's that were traded - if they are interested in resolving the problem tracking those GTC's should be a pretty simple task.

What a massive groupthink of replies we have here. Many giggles to the people telling him to read the rules.
To put it plain and simple, he did read the rules. CCP is at fault for offering two different rule books with VERY different guidelines. One of which is on a forum, which is inherently confusing; considering typical MMO gameplay, a forum is not a place you go to research information regarding legality of game questions.
Perhaps we should start offering two different versions of every rule regarding every mechanic of EVE. One tucked away in a forum, another in the official knowledgebase, which is recommended for reference answering any and all EVE questions.
