I think thats a bit silly. I think that SB's need to be looked at, but wouldn't your solution make them pretty much invulnerable to anything slower than it? It really just encourages the Nanofaggotry thats so prevalent.
I'd think that a better adjustment would be to add a cruise missle velocity bonus of +150%, and possibly a +5%/level of CovOps ROF on cruise launchers? That would get the missles to the target faster, at least allowing the SB's to do their job and possibly recloak before someone can target them back. Would turn it into an actual sniper/surgical striker.

As proposed, your idea sounds like it could *almost* work. I think it would need a lot of tweaking though, because it does not scale well. Imagine 20 bombers who could fire while cloaked. You could kill an entire fleet. lol

They could just warp away, if the SB tries to warp scram them they will be targetable. Or they could use a MWD.. i'm pretty sure even a battleship with an AB is faster than most SB cloaked. (again, if the SB tries to use an AB/MWD they'll be targetable)

But a single interceptor could kill the whole gang (assumming it went at least 5km/s +)

The post above shows the real source of whining about Stealth Bombers, which is people just don't know how to use them.
1. Using a stealth bomber solo, uncloaking to snipe at a target with one volley and then cloaking again, is a complete waste of time and ammo. Don't do it. These are small gang ships, to be used with interceptor and interdictor support. Hammer and Anvil. The Stealth Bombers are the hammer. And a gang like that is very, very difficult to catch and pin down, yet they can easily kill anything sub-capital that comes their way.
2. You should have at least 2 sensor dampeners on your ship to prevent your target from locking you.
3. If you do get locked (say from undamped ship near the target), a Stealth Bomber sits so far outside of any kind of scrambling range, that there is no way you can't safely warp out at that point. And aligning for warp is something you should have done before you even uncloaked.
There is no other frigate sized ship in the game that can deliver the kind of dps that stealth bombers can deliver from the kind of range, and safety, that stealth bombers can do. Any other frigate size ship that does anywhere near that kind of damage, does it within web range. This, and their cloaking bonuses, makes Stealth Bombers excellent ships.

The only thing that could remotly be a nice buff but not TOO overpowered (like the OP's lol suggestion), would be the abilty to passively target while clocked, and forced uncloaking on module activation. But then it should not be able to cloak again till the weapon module cycle is done (in which case if someone gets a lock during such time they are locked and unable to cloak), and if they cloak before the cruises hit, they cause no damage (since cruises are ACTIVELY guided).
Its a step in the right direction, imo, but not a giant leap like wtf pwning absolutely no viable counter.
You idea, in its many flaws, fails to realize that under that situation, any ship approaching the cluster**** of stealth bombers to 'uncloak' it, will be insta primaries and MIGHT last 2 volleys from a good sized gang. Plus this would mean that Stealth bombers would effectively make gate camping in low sec Easy-mode wtfpwnage.
- EFT screen shots are NOT an accurate example of a ship's abilities. |

You simply can't activate a mwd while cloaked. It won't let you. However, you can turn on your mwd and then cloak, and it will run out that cycle while you're cloaked and then turn off. That's the only possible way of using an mwd while cloaked.

Teh tech 2 ship "To Nerf or Not to Nerf" Checklist:
1) Does the ship in question perform better than its t1 variation?
2) DPS or utility far above that of its t1 couterpart?
3) Does it have a role in which it is very effective?
4) Is it possible to be effective without expensive rigs/implants?
5) Easier to fit / more slots than t1 version?
If your answer to all these questions is "YES" please PUT THE NERF BAT DOWN and step away from the ship.
Combine that with the fact that SBs can use bombs (which are useful in the right circumstances, though somewhat overpriced), and its prety hard to argue for a nerf....

Stealth bombers are fine, since their role is to decloack, loose a volley, recloak, move to another location and repeat. this process instapops an enemies frigates with the proper skillz.

agree on the lols :P
but the idea of a cruise missile speed boost per covop level sounds good to me.
the only bad thing about SBs is the fact that from like 100km every target a single SB could possibly one volley are ships that shouldn't have any problem warping out before the missiles arrive (unless the targets pilot is afk or waiting for the cyno to run out).
but even that could make them overpowered.

Despite the fact that this is overpowered, the coding behind it would require more than you'd think: Missiles work as decloakers within 2km as much as any other object- Your own missiles would decloak you.
I much prefer the old way of stealth bombing: Allowing the recloak while missiles are still in flight.

You still have to sit there and not warp until the missiles hit. In that time you can be uncloaked (or forced to warp, in which case your missiles miss).
A good SB *still* only dies if it's caught in a camp. After all, with any significant risk, a good SB does not uncloak.

hehe, no. A SB today can be forced back to cloak, and by that foced missing, by a fast inty rushing towards it. You know youd be invincible if you would be able to cloak right after firing a missile. It wont happen. -------------------------------------- [Video]Skirmish Warfare |

As the ship is now, at least in solo or small gang, the tactic is to engage with passive targeting, fire salvo, warp out. The ships are paper thin, and rate of fire is low. The faster your missile hits the target, the sooner you can leave before being turned to dust. Throwing slow moving torps, from a scary close range, in my view equals an insurance claim. Remember with high skills, and faction missiles, damage per cruise is in the 900 range X 3.

I get what you are saying, but it just seems like the bombers fighting style is completely at odds with the concept of stealth and more specifically the bombers speed bonus. Who cares how fast you can travel cloaked if you are just sitting at 100km taking pot shots at people? Seems like it could be an interesting tactic to sneak 10 bombers up close to the enemy in a largish fleet engagement and alpha the **** out of some battleship. At that close range you might even be able to get away with recloaking after the torps hit, and then you could use your nifty speed bonus to get away, reposition, and do it again.

I think that they should be able to fire without decloaking and that depending on the type of weapon, they should partially uncloak for a pre-defined period of time. Potentially introduce a skill that will allow hardcore Stealth Bomber pilots to reduce this time by a set % per level.
this means you can sneak up, fire off quickly, then slowly return to the stealth side without having ever fully uncloaked. The higher skill yuo have the less decloaked you get and the harder it is to target you.
Just a thought. Hell hath no fury like mine... |

That sounds like a great idea! On a related note, let my Armageddon fire while docked.
It could show up on the overview, but nothing would be able to target it back besides, get this, another docked Armageddon.

I think SB should be able to fire Citadel Torps and use a Siege module as well, but as there stealthy they should be able to stop the siege module after 1 volley.
This coupled with a 250km scram like the other nub said would make them worthwhile to use.
I funnly endore the geddon firing whilst docked could be the amaar boost you were looking for.
My 1 question is that is this guy a troll or not? if yes i give you 7/10

Please, won't someone think of the docking ramps?
And the number of people you kill with each miss?
