Of course, if I get figures even remotely similar to yours, the "nerf suicide ganking/fix insurance" crowd here won't believe them. They're resistant to every other suggestion put to them as to what they could do to combat this, I imagine they'd be resistant to evidence as well.

Further to the point that "suicide gankers can gank at no cost" because of insurance. Ofc this means that mission runners can suicide gank suicide gankers at no cost as well. But meh, why take matters into your own hands in one of the few games out there which will let you?

Let me guess, because you will not hurt them a single bit with such actions (they get insurance payouts anyway, remember?)and you can't profit from their trash T1 fits. Am I right?
You would also incur security status penalty, which YOU yourself call a major drawback, while gaining absolutely nothing.
So what was your point?

Quote: One would assume that the normal precautions one uses in nullsec would apply.
Eh? What? If the normal safety precautions in low sec apply then I think the normal boosted rewards in low sec should apply too.
Here are a couple fairly simple questions people can answer:
1)What do you feel should be the minimum cost in modules a missioning ship should have to fit before it becomes an automatically profitable and thus highly attractive suicide gank target?
2) Which faction modules could such a ship never fit without exceeding the limit?
3) Given that simply fitting these modules makes you an automatically profitable target for suicide gankers who put no assets of their own at risk, why should these modules even continue to exist?

That is not only funny, but works pretty well too, judging by frustration of some ganker in some other eve forum ("how dare they steal MY loot!" - lol).
The beauty of this is that the gankers do no own the wreck, their victim does, so you don't get flagged for them and they can't do much, other then attempt to suicide you.
But its kinda difficult when most of them are already in pods.

There was a fairly epic thread in the crime and punishment forum about a person doing this to a low sec gate camp. Lost a few ships doing it, be the ISK he made from module sales more than compensated for any losses. He was just using a small nippy ship for these purposes, rather than a hauler.
Naturally this inspired quite a few other people to try this.
Further more, a kind hearted individual could just return the modules to the mission runner for free, which would be a further a slap in the face to the gankers.

Originally by: iudex I wonder what's the point of all those faction items in the LP store. One does a lot of missions to be able to get those shiny caldari navy launchers, bcus and invuls, but at the end they only increases the danger for missionrunners.
Today i was ganked by 6 suiciding ravens (shinra corp) at a gate in Irjunen, after completing my mission. Pretty all of my modules were caldari navy items (except 3-4 maybe), but since the gankers get a full insurance payout, it only costs them 10-15mil to lose a raven. In my case that were 6 ships, which less than 100mil, so if someone has let's say items worth 300mil, he is already a profitable target for a 5 raven team. And there was nothing i could do, i already had 3 invuls, no big holes in the tank, but even with 3 invuls+overheat+damge control there is no way to survive this assault, so it's a pretty certain death. And since it's so profitable, it's getting more and more popular (i already complained about this in another thread before i was ganked).
Does that mean missions can be done with t2 items only ? What's the point then of all that officer and faction gear, who else should buy it ?
you got suicide ganked flying a mission ship ???
wtf were you fitting for tank ???

Wonder why they don't post their losses? Is this typical or not?

It is standard practice to not post losses to NPC's. CONCORD is NPC's thus losses to concord are usually not posted.
As far as some statements go on the lines 'fofofo u did not tank well if you were ganked in mission ship'. Tanking ability during suicide gank is irrelevant (as is posted several times before). Let us look at some numbers. Let us say that gankers are using T2 sieges (Siege launchers are afterall dirt free nowdays) with Rage torps using setup
Hi: 6x Siege II Med: 1x warp disruptor 3x sensor booster (lock speed script) 2x target painter I Low: 2x BCU II 3x BCU I Drones: 3x Bcouncer I
This setup does around 5300 burst damage with RoF of approx 6 seconds. There is 6 of those guys and they will get off 3 volleys . That means 31800 damage per volley or 95 400 raw damage over 12 seconds. 3x CN invul tank CNR has approx 89 000 hp (omni) after resists or 82 000 hp against EM. Assuming that pilot activates hardeners before first volley hits and activates also his tank it will still mean that he will recive 95 k damage but can tank only 92 k of it over the 12 seconds of action. He dies. Same goes for officer fits altho to make sure kill gankers might need one more Raven if it's some 'estamel all' guy.
So where exactly goes the line under what it is not reasonable to pop you for your modules assuming that 50% of them go pop. With current market prices raven + above posted setup will cost 111 mil isk. Raven insurance is 35 mil and yields 108 mil as insurance payout. So total cost is approx 40 mil per ganker. 6x40 = 240 mil and if we assume that half of your modules go pop then break even point for gankers will be around 480 mil. So as rough guideline, if you are fitting modules that are worth more than 500 mil all togehter you can expect to be killed for those modules.
So it is safe to say that with current market prices full CN fits, even if you are using just CN regular hardeners is not under that line. It is still however safe to fit 4x navy BCU's as they give you best bang for your isk. Well at least I have drawn my conclusions and downgraded to regular T2 launchers from CN ones. Stay under 500 mil line and you be safe(r). When CCP get's around implementing ammo change for all launchers at once they will be more effective than CN ones anyway.

This. Add to your calculations 2 additional heavy blasters or artys for each raven, rof boost from module overload, and 3x heavy drones each raven, and you can get the same damage with t1 launchers and navy torps, which cuts the price to 15mil/raven.

So it's basically pointless to try and build a setup to try and deal with the damage that is incoming if you get caught at a gate-gank since it's so huge. That's kinda depressing.
I guess the problem isn't so much suicide ganks themselves, but mainly that faction/officer modules are nowhere near "worth" what they cost in terms of difference over T2. A CN Invuln Field may give you 7.5% higher resists than T2, but at ~300 times the price it certainly makes you a much bigger target.
Problem is Carniflexs post above, whilst totally accurate, also validates the OPs point. What is the point of faction/officer mods when it is trivially easy to gank someone with them fitted.

Point of navy and officer items obiovsly is to be used on more expencive weapon platforms than missionrunning ravens. When you are sitting in dreadnaught or carrier then navy boost amps or CN invul fields are not that bad idea afterall all the sudden. In supercapitals better officer modules are already quite reasonable investment.
Altho as side effect it would mean that something like 10 serious missionrunners are capable of filling the demand for those items EVE wide if they would be used only in supercapitals or fancier capital setups.
In above mentioned situation it is thus better idea to invest in implants instead fancy modules as during the suicide gank you have better propablity of escaping with them still intact. Unfortunately there is no pirate sets that would increase missile damage and in the hands of competent pilot tanking is not the issue even if he is using just pure T2 gear.
PS. there is 14 CN cruise launcher for sale from me. Reasonably priced and for suicide gankers - there is also 9 CN torp launchers for sale at half the price of cruise ones. Gank with style ! Use CN gear ! You will find the items in The Forge region contracts.

Considering how much the suicide gankers try to come up with lame rationalizations for what they do they seem to think that they are sh*theads, too. If they didn't they would just say "we are criminals. period. no justification needed. live with it." But they don't.
Touching on offering to sell back ganked modules - that's just an offer to let them gank you a second time. Anyone who gets their jollies suicide ganking in empire would get a double chuckle out of taking payment and not leaving the modules.

Use Navy Cruise and Navy BCU. Thats a total of 6 navy item on this *Permatanking* Golem that tanks better than a Gist-X CNR. Nobody is going to gank someone with 6 navy items, since half of them will get blow up. You can also use t2 on the above setup for suicide gank proof as you are not worth a gankers time
Stop using CNR Gist-X setups, since they are prime ganker material now. Use Gist stuff in lowsec insted. --
