Awox Advanced Logistics Cosa Nostra.	Posted - 2008.03.17 11:45:00 - [1] To anybody who cares, I thought I would share the reasons why today I cancelled my two EVE subscriptions. A year ago this would have been a difficult decision to make, but today I saw it on my credit card bill and thought "WTF I am still subbed?". EVE has changed just a little too much for my liking, and CCP have made far too many comprimises in regards to the game for the sake of 10,000 or so more subscriptions (Which is fair enough, they are a business afterall). Now, before we get to the tl;dr bit, you cannot have my stuffs. So, after playing this game for so long I feel I need to give my reasons for leaving, not for CCP's sake, but for the sake of those who are curious. These aren't whines, I am not crying. I am an adult, you are [probably] an adult too. Please respect that I am only sharing my opinion, and explaining myself to my friends in this game. (Yeah, I have 2 or 3. Srsly.) I've tried my hand at lots of things in the game. POS/alliance warfare, piracy, anti-piracy, mercenary stuff, courier/logistics, building/invention, trading. Only really enjoyed small gang PvP, but like that happens anymore. logoffski: It's simply too easy to avoid death, no matter 1.0 (empire war), low-sec (anti/piracy) or 0.0 (whatever). Now practically everyone logs off to avoid PvP. Instead of flying appropriate ship classes with the right equipment whilst employing proper tactics it seems the majority of EVE finds logging off a lot easier nowadays. warp to zero: I guess I'm just one of those purists that believed in flying a smaller ship rather than copying insta bookmarks. Now everyone rolls around in nano-ships that are unlockable from jump-in, and jump straight out thanks to warp to zero. nanoships: Well, you either love them or hate them. I myself started as Minmatar, as I wanted to be a pirate/raider and fast/nimble ships were the best option. It pains me to see what was once a greatly diverse game turn into a twitch shooter, for that I have [insert popular FPS here]. farming: CCP obviously does not care about ISK farmers. Anyone who thinks CCP actually bans farmers is an idiot, if you saw a farmer group disappear from your area they probably moved on to richer exploits. I've petitioned many farmer groups, gathered detailed evidence, and FFS, it's just not hard to spot these guys. CCP even endorses alliances being sponsered by these groups. lag: CCP like add features, but every time they do, they seem to increase either ammount of CTDs/desyncs (Yes, they do still occur. Just less frequently!) or the ammount of RAM the EVE client consumes. crowded: Space is just too damn small at the moment. There's nowhere for a small alliance to get organised before taking on one of the power-blocks for a real 0.0 home. CCP tried to add this (with the drone regions) but failed miserably as one power-block (not naming names) realised that it was profitable to farm this area, and made supply lines shorter. hitpoint buffs: How many of these do we need? It takes 20 minutes to take out a BS 1v1, (assuming some-what evenly matched SPs & tactics). Any ship is practically bait, because any ship you try to take out without 20 people will probably tank you for the 2-5 minutes required to have his friends arrive. blobs: I know there is little CCP can do about "blobs", but adding nanoships (counter: more nanoships, deadlier gatecamps) and making POS/sov mechanics based purely on who has the numbers hardly encourages smaller group-play. bugs: I don't even need to explain myself here. 2nd job: Yes, it should really take me 30 minutes to fit a ship after losing it. Yes, I should wait 30 seconds between changing ships. Yes, I should wait 30 seconds before I can dock after changing into that ship. sigh

If you don't believe that CCP are dumbing down EVE you have only to look at the latest addition, "welcome screens". Another option I need to reconfigure after clearing out my broken cache or installing at a internet cafe or something. :D So, that's pretty much my list. If I missed anything, I probably wont update or reply to this thread, unless I get some juicy flames. I don't get a lot of time for "hardcore" gaming, I recently (a few months back) started as an Apprentice Chef. I am enjoying it, it consumes a lot of my time, but it's rewarding at least. Although i went to PotBS didn't enjoy it came back to eve, but i've been playing other older games, like BF2, Company of Heroes etc, just enjoying it loads. Getting an Xbox360 soon hopefully i can reside to that :P Your far from whinging mate, you've just collected ALL of the things CCP have just swept under the rug whilst installing new patches. Okay eve has grown massive amounts when i first played it, but technology has probably moved quicker, if CCP cannot accomodate a lag free environment with the money and recourses they can get, why do they allow more and more people to play... The days are gone when you could take 3-4 Battleships through 0.0 with a covert scout and be feared by Alliances, getting some real fun kills, some shameful NPCer ganks but that was part of life. Nowadays no one brings out BS because stick a vaga 1v1 with a BS and it cannot hit it, or jump your cov ops scout into a system and find 'kjbkhgsd' immidiatly safespotting his raven and cloaking, waiting 10 mins for you to leave system and carry on his own little ratting in 100% safety... There is no real fun in eve anymore, to have your own little part of space now if your in a relatively small alliance, is to have loads of dreads, carriers and battleships, numbers has pushed the 'honour' away. Higher skillpoint characters have actually no real advantage over other lower skillpoint characters which baffles me, ive got over 22million skillpoints in gunnery ALL amarrian spec, which in theory along with my other 35mil skillpoints in other aspects of pvp should make me far superior to say a 20million skillpoint char,the fact of the matter is, he is able to keep me there long enough for his 30 man gang to help me him.... EVE has changed for the worse over these past few patches, i hope CCP do something to make it more fun for the veterans in eve. Privateers was great, CCP nerfed them, solo 0.0 battleship roams, CCP nerfed them, station ping pong (although very frustrating) it allowed the small entities at least a 'go' at someone, ccp nerfed :( Oh and with these longer DT's, extender patch times, like an entire day to fix some small things? seriously? are we gonna get days back on our subscription CCP?

His pirate corp (Hentai corp) was my first PVP experience in Molden Heath. It was Tempest vs Tempest, 1v1, blasting away at each other in an asteroid field in Atlar. He was such a bad PVP'er at the time that everyone used to compare how many Awox corpses we had in our hangers in the now defunct MH-SEC chan. There was always much smack talk to be had when he was around and to be quite honest, I enjoyed the game a lot more 1.5 years ago too. I also agree on how crowded the universe is, and about the bugs/lag. However...your complaint about "ISK Farmers" is worthless. There is nothing in the rules against "farming" for ISK. Or maybe they should ban everyone who mines and "rats"??? The only thing against the rules, in terms of that, is selling ISK. But you should know that.

I don't know why CCP thinks that it's a good idea to clear aggro timers when you jump through a gate (with WTZ...). Surely it should be easy to fix. Personally, I find myself thinking about cancelling as well, most of the time I just sit in a station doing nothing and most of my corp/alliance mates seem to play much less than they used to. I used to go ratting / run missions in those non-PVP hours but after resorting to GTC=>ISK a couple of times, the last incentive is gone - why bother? It's dull and pointless and doesn't make you a bigger man to earn your ISK by shooting NPCs. EVE Online: a cold, cruel world where (RL-)rich people replace their losses with GTCs sold to poor students who need to farm ISK to afford their play time ...

Seriously you cannot complain about Eve losing its "hardcore", then say you are going to play XBox.
