Are you going to remove admin privileges requirement in final updater version ( since current TQ production patches don't need them anymore and I was kind of hoping this to be the new sane trend ) ?

 I dont like it reasons:

 1. No multiclient suport, i wil need like 5 ot 7 lauchers to play.
 2. No suport for multiple characters on one acount, no not posibul swith chars witout reloging a game.

BASICLY THOS ARE THE REASONS WAY I DONT LIKE IT.

Launcher still can't work correctly from non-admin users on Win XP

 - ask for admin login when patching
 - without patching run eve in wrong envirounment ( ask license confirmation, but direct eve start doesn't, don't see old logins and config and etc )

 Will check on Win7 later

 i agree with eperor.

if this means that we'll need multiple launchers, when running multiple accounts, then some old hardware might have problems running these.

 Hi guys,

A suggestion for the launcher - please please consider giving it the ability to manage sisi accounts side by side with tq accounts...

 What I mean is this.

 1. Open launcher
 2. Select icon for test server
 3. If no sisi install found, install and patch it - including asking where the user wants the files dumped.
 4. log into sisi.
 5. Open or better alt-tab to launcher
 6. Select icon for TQ (default option on load)
 7. update / patch / install as needed
 8. log into game in second client running.

This should be a hub and make all the dirty work of getting on tq, patching, installing, fixing broken installs easy on us and preferably managed from a single instance of the launcher. It should make sisi access super easy without having to manually install a second client and set the server address in a custom desktop link.

These simple (on the grand scale of things) changes to usability would be a boon to new and old players alike, and truly leverage the power of having a launcher.

It will be great for eve the option of changing characters without exiting and closing EvE client.

EvE launcher is a great improvement i think, a download manager for eve client and patches is good for the game and good for the eve users. The old system of loading client, patching, closing client, reloading client, patching again, closing, reloading, is tedious...

Second what a few other people have suggested: multiple client support! I'd especially appreciate it if you can tell it to load one client on one monitor, and another on a second, etc. Preferably without the windows borders! "Fixed Window" style.

When I try to run the launcher I get an error saying I don't have permission, even though this is (as far as I know) the main user account for the my computer. The launcher runs if I log in on the administrator account, though.

As far as I can tell my user account should have full access. I guess I'm just a windows newb, help would be appreciated.

Edit: after logging off my user account, logging in on my admin account, and opening the launcher, it now works on my regular user account. I don't know if this is due to simply relogging or if opening it first on the admin account was necessary.

On the short cut you create to use the launcher, right click and enable the admin rights. Once you do you will see a seal on the shortcut.

i think the launcher is a goot thing and have some great potential^^

support for multiple clients would be awesome
a list of accounts / passwords and a button to "log em in"

additionally setting the positions of the windowed clients would be nice

i always dreamt of sending the client startparameters like:

-user: user // automatic fill in the username
-pass: password // for easy login (ok, great risk if a bad person gets hold of your desktoplink, batchfile or script)
-noborders // tell the client to run in windowed mode, but without the windowborders
-posx1 xxx -posy1 xxx // to set the top left position of the client-window
-posx2 xxx -posy2 xxx // to set the bottom right position of the client-window

edit: maybe a single launcher (read: patcher) for TQ and Sisi would help bring more players to the testingsessions?

If/When you add P2P support, please please please add a setting in the config to throttle to a specified upload speed and/or autothrottle

Other launchers frequently don't have this setting, and so I just turn P2P off so my upload doesn't get saturated.

Smoking Blunts wrote:so, they have decided to make it even more anoying to patch multiple clients than now, Wait, so you have separate installs for each client you run? You know the client maintains separate app data for each account, right?

So much potential with the launcher. It simplifies updates a bit, but it's not really needed as it is. But the potential! :D

During one of the many barinstorming meetings concerning the EVE Launcher, please consider including letting us browse the system maps from the launcher. And maybe even a fitting tool for ships. The fitting tool is already essentia for serious players to plan out stats and possibilities for their ships, so it's sad that EVE don't have one.

As a GIS scientist, please please, remember the map idea.

Am I the only one that enjoyed the animated launcher that we currently have? Makes the game feel majestic when I see the current launcher. This launcher just doesn't set itself apart from the other MMOs on the market. Old one was different from everything else. I am sure that you have heard this feedback before...

I like to be able to log off one char and onto another with out having to retype passwords all the time.

We have 3 slots for 3 chars so why not let us when we choose to log off take us back to the char screen to choose the next char we would like to log onto.

Instead of having to keep retyping passwords to log back in to the alt char that u want to log onto next.

( I know loads may not like this idea but it works very well in WoW )

Yes i said it world of warcraft but it WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!

I sure the Eve guys and girls could make this very easy to do

[Errno 13] Permission denied "C:\\Program Files(86)\\CCP\\Singularity\\launcher\\launcher.exe.log" Help pls UPDATE: Bug hunter team advise to run launcher as administrator Launcher updates to beta version and game runs
Have same error on Win7. Win XP previously updated without the error.

Problem if the folder's rights where log attempt to be created. During launcher folder creation permissions for change should be provided to the current user/user what ever user/admin has. But I think log should be created somewhere else.

After fixing the problem launcher still run eve with wrong environment: license agreement displayed.
Direct run eve.exe via old shortcut show same launcher screen, but start eve with right environment: without license agreement and with old login and settings.

If I may, would it be possible for the launcher to have a drop down menu similar to the account selection drop down menu on the log in screen?

What I'm getting at, is if you run dual or more accounts on multiple monitors, you have your main account set up with predefined settings so when you press the launch button, it opens on your main monitor, when you then open the launcher for a second time to launch the second account, you simply choose the second character from the list (of which settings are predefined to start in the second monitor) and press launch and you have both accounts ready on their respective monitors and the ALT toons audio muted, brackets off, etc, etc....

a drop down menu is not even necessary, you can simply have icons for each account which, right click and choose launch, it does NOT close the launcher...

so you rightclick your MAIN and choose launch, (the launcher stays open) after which you simply left click the second (ALT) icon of which the launcher closes and the ALT (with its rules and settings) launches on the second monitor.

Quote:You can chose to only show the Launcher if there is an update to the game. This is the only reason I don't hate you right now. I see absolutely no purpose of making the user click two buttons instead of one to start the game. First the shortcut on your desktop, then the Play button of the launcher.

Just because every other WoW clone MMO does it doesn't mean it makes a bit of sense.

If you want to download patches without starting the client window, then download patches before you run the client in a neat little windows-style window, then close it and start the game automatically when the patch is done. Don't shove another pointless screen in our face for no good reason.

What would really make life SSSSOoooooo much easier if there was a way to set the monitor where the client should move to/launch in without the need for the current Click-fest. I run 5 account (15 toons) and getting them onto the right monitor is such a pain.

Maybe a graphical representation of the monitor set-up that will allow me to launch on the current screen or with a single click determine which monitor the client should be on launched on...

Also what about the ability to swap Toons on the same account without the need to re-log. Other modern apps allow you to switch profiles without re-authenticating e.g. accounting systems, ERPs etc.

 Quoting from the article:

Quote:One reason for using a Launcher for doing updates is we can get away from having to start EVE Online client up, then shut it down while the update is being applied and then starting EVE Online back up. It's wasteful, and a little bit confusing, to have to spend time on starting up the game, in order to detect we need a patch and to download it, then to shut it down immediately afterwards so that the patch can be applied.
Just out of curiosity, are there any plans to change the client itself so that it doesn't shut down when you log off? Say if you want to switch to another character or possibly a seperate account, it's (to quote you) wasteful and a little bit confusing as to why the game has to shut down in order to do this.
