Yes, and evidently at least four times a year is the required minimum; when the US/Canada switches to summer time in early March and when Europe switches in late March and then we repeat in the fall.
Then there are smaller periods of confusion, such as when Australia and New Zealand move to winter time in early April.

Edited by: Vriomiunx on 30/03/2008 21:20:01 Edited by: Vriomiunx on 30/03/2008 21:18:26 Will it not be easier just to say the time is in UTC, which is rather common to say nowadays, just to fix this confusion? Everyone knows that UTC don't have summer and winter time (but is the same all the time), but obviously not everyone know that GMT doesn't either.
edit: “Since the difference between UTC and Greenwich Mean Time (GMT) never exceeds 0.9 second, for many purposes the difference can be ignored.” Sauce

Only reason i noticed, is that igoogle gadget told me i had 3 mins left on a skill.. but buh, its an hour and 3 mins
Not important, not a particularly necessary thread, just something i've not previously noticed.
im also now very confused as to when our wardec goes live O.o, so actually, maybe it would be pretty cool to get some sort of answer, y'know if you have the time
I look forward to this thread each year / six months. Thanks for not letting me down.
If it helps just think of it as Zulu time. Zulu is GMT as well, but it is the time they use on subs cut off from the outside world.
So sort of the same thing.

U.S. has already done their time change with little forum assault. The confusion caused by having the time change early probably thwarted someone on this side of the pond from making an ass of themselves about time changes.

Would this be because Iceland has no summer! :)
Actually, no, there's usually like two weeks in August where there's a twenty degree heatwave.

only in icyland to consider the primaveral 20¦C, a "heatwave".
do us a favor, if you icylanders ever come to portugal in the summer, do bring lots of ice and sunscreen. and maybe a portable igloo or iceberg or smth.
you will need it.

Draw a vertical line from greenwhich and draw 2 more at 7.5 degrees on either side. That's the GMT timezone. Even though countries can decide wether their keep that timezone or not. There's little a sledgehammer can't fix. If you can't fix it, you need a bigger sledgehammer. If it's unfixable, blame CCP. :p

I'm gonna have to come back after I've slept on it, but isn't this whole thread proof of Sephra Star's "proof" of the NWO? Daylight savings time is a tool of the Powers That Be to twist our thoughts towards their dark designs.
Or, maybe I've just sat (or is it "sitten"?) through too many of these sorts of posts after nearly 5 years?
I'll get back to y'all in the morning.

Doh. I just tried to log on to eve, seeing as it was 12:00, and DT finishes. Of course, in all actuality it is only 11:00 GMT and DT has only just begun.
Ah well, looks like it'll be forums for an hour till DT is over.

Eve is always GMT :)
Which is good because each player only has to keep track of when their clock changes (if it changes). And everyone else is just oblivious. There would be nothing like someone keeping track of 4 different dates (when the server changed on/off and when they changed on/off summer time).

At least a book that is wrong is consistently wrong. Generally for facts like this they would be checked by more than a single author also, but of course books go out of date. So infact the best resource is a website maintained and checked by the people who make the changes to the reality, so the written facts match the reality. Rather than by someone who puts their observed reality up as fact.
