Tyrrax never had a good name as far as I'm aware. Everyone always knew he had some strange past connections, and there was always a risk he was going to steal something. So he's hardly using "his good name" for a one-time heist. And as far as I'm aware Tyrrax has been ridiculously rich since time began anyway.

Ah. I would enjoy some drama between Molle and his BoB alliance more.
And it seems TT is in a posting frenzy and can not be stopped.

I hear you. I guess I am a little to harsh when I say it is bio massing a character.
I will however ask though: Who do you think makes more ISK, Chribba who built on his good name so all he has to do is sit back and collect, or someone who uses their good name for a one-time heist? Especialy when that heist makes it so no large money will ever be put near that charcter again by outside parties.
That is the reference I was hoping people would connect with but I guess I have to spell it out.
I understand the noteriety. I myself would pay a fee to have Istvaan on my third character slot...but it is a small sum as compared to what Chribba makes in a month collecting peoples API information...
Chribba is probably richer, although it would be hard to say when you have people who are so upset with BoB they throw 56bil isk down the drain. People want to believe things so badly they'll avert their eyes from all the facts.
And even though Tyrrax joined and left IAC on bad grounds, he is still responsible for its growth and survival. IAC was a nobody alliance with a few hundred characters when he assumed power, just struggling to fend off pirates in Curse. Cult of personality is what kept it going, and kept it intact, not to mention the solid manipulation of nearby entities like CVA, AAA, and GS. Every time IAC has been on the brink of annihilation, someone has come in to save the day through Tyrrax's diplomatic efforts.
To compare, Goons before Remedial were incapable of forming a long term corp. Every time they recruited a bunch of people and plateaued, they'd crash and implode to drama. Goons in EVE have a history of failure longer than most organizations' existence. He kept them together with unbreakable dictatorship, and now they've got enough momentum to keep going without relying on such systems.
Despite this, Remedial is a clueless and incompetent dolt. He is one of the worst players I've ever had the misfortune to know, and GoonFleet was nothing more than a much needed ego boost when he got kicked around everywhere else. He was always on the edge of screwing it over for personal benefit, just like Tyrrax. And he too, did many of the same maneuvers as Tyrrax - go awol when things get tough or boring, then come back and take over with force.
My experience with UQS was similar, admittedly. They were struggling newbies, who couldn't fight or do anything. After doing everything in my power to ensure the existing leadership failed miserably, I assumed control and built the corp up. I gave them some pride, self-respect, self confidence and a long term vision.
When I betrayed them, it was mostly painful because they owed so much to my efforts. I didn't hound them after, because I knew they wouldn't peak to the same level again on their own. I was right, and they ended up imploding on terms that could make them feel nostalgic for the days when I ran things.
GoonSwarm moved past Remedial somehow (even though Rigel thought it would be the end, and that I would buy his crappy info), and even managed to strike back with the peenor pictures. So here you have three identical situations. In one, the corp survives, the other it dies. So what will happen to IAC?
My money goes on their demise. Odyssey probably left a fresh leadership vacuum that Tyrrax hasn't had time to fill in yet. And it also gives disillusioned IAC pilots a place to go away from this mess. AAA isn't going to refrain from attacking, just because they don't know the full extent of IAC's corruption.
Its a good week to be playing EVE, this much breakdown of the polarization has been coming for a long time. _______________________________ http://epicwords.net/ |

Quality post there DigitalCommunist, and indeed in the whole thread. I'm not always a fan of yours, but I like this mode. It feels like truth, and indeed is a good insight to some of the politics behind these things. In the spirit of this thread though, I think enjoying it for the unfolding drama it is, is a safer choice than basing decisions of it, but great reads.
In fact, a lot of great posts in this unfolding drama, and a lot of history presented for us relative newcomers to the game - hell, its like Christmas all over again, except the presents are drama and the cookies are tears.

Just to clarify, TT did not steal from IAC, he stole from two of his corpmates.
I wish that we atleast keep this a thread as truthfullas we can, or as colbert would put it, full of thruthiness.
I cant see the relation between goons, your corp and IAC, DC, since its not close to related. I will however say that it has left IAC in a new situation which we have to get out of. |

Absolutely, you have no clue at all what went on before ThC joined so don't try to pretend ThC/VileLust made much of a difference to anything. When I went on break and you guys took over you were reclaiming stations against practically no resistance with the Coalition's backing. You still made a mess of it and alliance was falling apart when I stepped back in to fix it. Which I did pretty well, IAC was stronger than ever until this announcement
Kinda sounds like Nez. Waiting for the future 'omg IAC sucks without me' posts.

Hey at least I killed caps too =)
MC and ISS are both down a mothership thanks to my glorious leadership, IAC's excellent tackling russians and a little backup from -A- to help deliver the deathblows.
Of course you could say I've cost IAC four But really one of those was just me soloing and getting ganked, and the one in F4R was mostly the pilot's fault, I was barely present for that one and not in charge of caps or subcaps.

You tell me. (old screenshot, much richer now)
According to this TT lost 60bil worth of stuff in that death. My question was will the remaining mothership and mods actually sell for more than 60bil? I'm just eyeballing it but I'd say it's pretty close. My question was are you in the black for this operation (not your wallet) -- Distortion| Distortion 2 Preview |
