but in mirial's case, there was enough doubt cast against her character to make her destruction hold a certain karmic appeal. the collapse of her corp was the coup de grGce, following a positively Machiavellian tale.
Mirial's corporation did not collapse as a result of the heist.
perhaps collapse was a little strong, but i assumed Ubiquita Seraph never really recovered, what with their current lack of.. uuh.. Ubiquitousness?
apologies to Ubiquita if they're still kicking around. clearly your demise has been greatly exaggerated.
It officially ended about 2 days ago when I, the last member left
But yes the theft broke the corps back, luckily the newly formed alliance carried it on for a couple more years before what was left of UQS move on and I took my long break from eve. |

This is mostly adressed to GH-SC members that have taken part in this heist.
For the record: I, like so many people, also took interest in the game after reading the PC Gamer article on the UQS affair.
I could almost see the new article in my minds eye:
"...after 3 years (insert the proper number here) of hard, undercover work TT finally made to being the head of huge 0.0 alliance. All those years of effort were finally going to give some reward. As soon as everything was in place..."
he stole two ships and ran ?!?!
I mean.... that's like a criminal that fooled all the police screenings, all the financial experts, made it to the position of the CEO of Bank of England.... then... THEN.... stole his secretary's Morris Mini and ran.
Kind of disappointing - I would expect something massively more epic considering effort and the position you were at.
That being said, I am against thievery in this form, I despise the backstabbing and betrayal, and I really would think that giving Jim his Wyv back for finders fee of like 2 bil would be more like -A- I know (merciless but honourable).
This is just a personal point of view, having nothing to do with the views of my corp or my alliance.

Very interesting that CVA/Paxton/Sylph and friends keep asking that Mo returns his purchased MoM, but there hasn't been a single mention of them wanting the other MoM returned........
I'm really beginning to wonder why?

Hope to see you work something out with Jim TBH, like selling it to him for half mineral price or something. Thus your still making a few bill and he gets his ship back.
Other then that nice job, glad TT has now become one of the most untrusted names in Eve.
Hopefully it's not too late for the new IAC leadership to save the sinking ship.

I made my first exploration sites with Jim's help and also made roaming gangs and battles with AAA. When I left IAC I thought about joining AAA like many IAC ppl did, who want to make PVP. AAA recruted whole corps from IAC.
Now I read an AAA guy stole Jims Wyvern and they red box the whole alliance IAC. More pewpew - ok, what mortis wrote - no. If you want to get rid of some metagamers in IAC - ok, but that is no reason to kick ppl like Jim in the balls. It is a shame. I expected something different. I still remember the words Evil Thug wrote in SHC after MC left BOB. Is that no more valid? I saw nothing happen in that direction from AAA. I hope for you all, that in the end no third party is profiting from what you are doing now.
best of luck to all.

TT also mentioned it himself on various occasions. Maybe some people decided to overhear that. Like DC said, sometimes people tend to ignore facts because they want to believe something else. Besides, others who were "in on it" might have thought and still might think they were/are safe from any and all damages due to their knowledge.
I think there is two common mistakes many players in EVE make concerning scams and thievery.
1) Internet game friendships. Internet game friendships are mostly less binding than RL friendships. And even in RL friendships betrayal can happen. How often do we hear "...BUT I have known her/him for YEARS and TRUSTED her/him. How in the world could she/he do this to me...". At the same time we still think this will not happen to us, only to others. That might be a mistake.
2) Famous people. It seems to be part of human nature to trust famous people more than the average people from around the corner. I do not think this is wise. They are in no way better or more honest than your average Jim Doe. At least that is the way I see it. The revelations in this thread about TT, as well as the EIB scam which used positive vouches from famous people hint in the direction to be carefull. Chribba is above all doubts of course

Are we not all GH-SC somehow? What if GH-SC approaches you with a cool "mission" that will be oh so secret and oh so profitable? You might even get an oh so epic thread and become oh so famous. Tempted?
Recruitment for informants/spies/agents/operatives or whatever you want to call those involved in undercover work is surprisingly easy in EVE. Might be because the creation of alts is quick and hassle free. Also running a char in this field of business opens a new playing field in EVE, that has a special appeal to bored EVE players or those who just want to try out something new. In the end, it is all a game.

Morris said he isnt going to return the mom back to jim,i wouldnt because:
-Don fly want you cannot loose
-And for the love off god don let treat your super capitals like they were battleships and go afaik .... -AAA did a favor by keeping the mom a pilot that forgets and goes afaik with it in an unsafe enviriemeant is a liability to its alliance and its friends. ------------------------------------------------------------------

As somebody who has no hand, or any particular interest, in the galactic politik all i get from this thread is the overwhelming feeling that the majority of CAOD posters are playing an entirely different game to me. more Floor 13 than Internet Spaceships.
it's also a wee bit disappointing that GHSC come out of this looking slightly shabby - going by Istvaan's burgeoning wallet, surely their reputation was worth more than a couple of Motherships?
still, the navy apoc kill was class (<3 killsons). presumably tyrrax wasn't being scouted because he doesn't have enough friends left to lend a hand?

No tinfoil hat.
If I knew who had the 2nd Wyvern I'd still feel the same, stealing in my opinion is wrong (but a majority of our community thinks it's mandatory to be one of the cool kids)
Most probably because we hold you in high regard. It would be nice to see that your discipline and honour would extend further than the battlefield. Besides a good PR move it would simply be the right thing to do. And I think the majority of players/alliances in Providence try and do just that.
Some people on these forums say nobody can be trusted, but there are people that hold their reallife values high even in a fantasy spaceship game.
If the Wyvern stays with -A- without giving Jim (a last ) chance to get it back I would think less of your alliance. However I doubt anyone cares.

Jim built that ship and got the mins solo... he worked damn hard for it. If he wishes to go afk so falls a sleep wasted at his desk while crusing in his nice shiny ship HE built, so be it! If people want to help save him and fight to save his mom, thats cause he has friends. I wasn't there but i can garrentee TT was just one of many trying to stop the ship from popping... and i am pretty sure TT would have got there after it was mentioned in IRC and people already screaming for support on the intel channels.
TBH, its sad he never lost it then, cause that would have been his own fault.... instead he lost it to TT underhanded self man loving fame. TT never really help his alliance this time around, and lost a lot of good people from IAC and replaced them with carebears.... he came back for one thing and one thing only! This i am sure will be sorted now with a good Leader
Oh, and that guy that enjoyed showing us your wallet... well done. What does it prove though? seriously, the point of risk verses reward thing is not there for you... and what you do is long term build up for short gain. You have lots of isk, but its reather pointless for your game style, even if you go out ganking people.. this will get boring after awhile cause the is no risk for you. I am sure only a fifth of that amount is enough for most things you do. So having that isk proves only that you have isk. welldone! |

I don't see why AAA should give the mom back, Jim was saying that it wasn't TT, right? AAA planed the deal, played the player, props to them, they deserve the MS.

I might have missed it - this is a long thread after all - but haven't seen any CVA comments regarding any motherships (or anything else for that matter) in this thread.

To everyone saying that we should give it back, why should we effectively give away 20b to someone who has proved they can't be trusted with one? Especially when that person isn't even blue to us.

Of course, it's your decision, and all's fair in love and war.
However, have you considered the long term benefits of gaining a reputation for being a good sport and the long term implications for being known as scammers?

Yes we read your OP and I pressume you posted it on a public forum so that people can discuss it or voice their opinions. It is clear our opinions differ. Not more than that. You could have been Robin Hood, but you ended up being a crook too. You clearly state to TT that stealing is bad (I reckon you said this to validate your turning on him) however in most civilized countries it is still illegal to "buy" stolen goods and considered just as wrong as the "stealing" itself.
So to be honest, your OP makes you look kind of double faced.
Honestly dude, it would take the better man to give that ship back, it might be alot of isk, but I'd say it would be worth double that in your reputation.
Anyways, I'm out and made my point. Good luck IAC, Hope you get your ship back Jim and I hope -A- do the right thing. Oh.. and:
