The Empyrean Age ,factional warfare, this sounds awsome, i hope it will be war between gallente and caldari, and we will see huge gangs with only gallente ships fighting caldari gangs.

It'd do wonders for the New Eden economy. You'd see Jita's "super-hub" status start to diminish, and some local hubs spring up in the other 3 empires, seeing as people wouldn't necessarily wish to risk the trip too often. For the first time in EVE's entire history, you'd have proper inter-regional trading. For the first time ever, New Eden might be realistically divided in to 4 separate economies, instead of just one big one. Proper, normal low-sec pirating might become a popular profession again (with suicide ganking becoming less popular) and you'd be giving normal people a need to use low sec for something...

i suppose i should comment.
factional warfare.
i can see its advantages and i can also see a new start to massive fluctuations in prices.
I hope some of us who log on for an hour or 2 a night just to blow up stuff in a mission or 2 still can. After all there are alot of mission runners in eve. (check the arbalest price for siege launchers, used to be 6 mil pre revelations).
I can half see it happening this summer, partly because we have only had a couple of minor patches since january, and 1 intermediate sized patch. There are enough bugs to fill a dustcart so lets hope they fix them and not bring back all the old bugs (again).
lets see a dev blog ccp regarding this latest patch.
any new ships?
new models?
color schemes?
station types?
new systems?
different jumps?
removal of globally bookmarked ore fields?
new types of items?

They shouldnt have much difficulty implementing this expansion since it doesnt involve actual game mechanics. Mostly Mission stuff, and a few options as far as Flagging yourself for war.
I dont think it will matter what Race your Char is for this, You just have to pick a side, have no clue wether or not we will have the option to switch factions we choose to fight for.
To say the least it should be interesting to see how it effects Empire. LoL could see people polarizing to the outside corners of empire to stay away from rival faction's space, but who knows until CCP quits with the silence on this subject.

on this one CCP are likley to be as silent as mules. The dev chats and promo usually start about 6 weeks before deployment which means end of June for this patch id say

I think it would be great if you could permanently flag a ship (vs. a character) for factional warfare. Similar to a rig, it sends an IFF signal and cannot be removed. That way a character can fight for the faction in a given ship, and his hauler would remain neutral...
That way, you could also fight for more than one faction if the mood suits you. Play every side for what it's worth.
...Just a semi-random thought.

sweet. Its like privateers/red vs blue all rolled into one.
I really really really hope the fighting will be allowed in high sec as well as low because the prospect of somewhere where no one can hotdrop 50 cap ships on me is looking more and more appealing.

I think it will be like that:
1. you can sign up for FW if you have enough standing with that faction. No matter what race you are, or what ship you fly, or in wich corporation you are currently.
2. if you sign up, you will be "flagged" and showed in enemy overview, so you can attack any ship of opposed faction (only those who flagged for FW) and them can attack you too. I hope that attacking your faction teammates will result in criminal flagging and concord intervention.
3. You will get nothing (neither standings nor isk) for killing other players (because of possible alt\friend-killing for reward = FARM). But changing side will reduse your standing.
4. You will get money and standing for special FW missions, where you need to kill some npc and maybe some structures.. but opposing faction can kill you (maybe receive some notification of your actions).
