Shucks - yeah bring back the good old days....
Much as I hesitate to agree with someone who was known for camping gates in an un-tacklable capital ship, I have to say that Miz has a point.
The game has changed drastically from what it was, both due to game mechanics and the people who play it. For the former, mechanics that encourage blobbing, POS warfare, nano-gangs, broken recons, etc. have taken much of the fun out of what was the best game I'd ever played. The players themselves are also another factor. EVE is far too crowded these day; you can't travel five jumps without tripping over a 50-man fleet. Moreover, a few years ago it was about having a good fight and enjoying yourself, but now it's all about winning. As a result, good fights are few and far between. Finally, the upshot of both the game mechanics changes and the change in player population and mentality is that solo and small gang PvP are pretty much dead. A "small" gang these days is 20 people, and that's a crying shame as it allows little chance for individual player skill and tactics to swing the course of a battle (unless the player in question happens to be the FC).
You have warp to zero to thank for that. -- Crane needs more grid 249km locking? |

Originally by: Miz Cenuij I have taken many breaks from eve but always come back. This time has been different though. 7 months away and I still feel no desire to play again. This isn't the game we started out in 5 years ago, ccp no longer cares about its customer base the wayf it used to. Remember way back when they used to anounce drives to cut petition times to a few hours max? Now people wait weeks! The game itself now lacks the sense of adventure it held years ago. The new player base is drawn from a younger market and is reflected everywhere in the game. For now I train skills only and hope eve sees a drop I'm subs over the next year. Maybe then we can get back to the eve we all loved so much back in 03
Ok, i don't know if you have halted your alts subscription. But i will, even to my main. I find it to be the appropriate action to show my resent. I can only hope that this will make ppl more critical towards CCP so that they put pressure on them to make their monies more worth than their pocketbook and out-of-EVE interest. People are paying and have payed for some other game. Few ppl seem to understand this. CCP better bring oral pleasure of the finest sort to those that made it possible when its over, if ever.
Originally by: Vyktor Abyss Caldari mid slots and tackling - Sorry but this is hogwash. It takes 1 ship to tackle in a gang, so Caldari acting as uber-ewar ships (see Burn Eden damp ravens stats) or as uber DPS gank ships (EM torps + lots of lows free for dmg mods) outdamaging Neutron Megas, aswell as the inherant Caldari uber ECM ships (Note: armour tank Scorpian FTW) really suggests to me that the Caldari balance is pretty awesome, giving them flexibility and variety of choice with their slot layouts. But they never got 'named' shield transfers for a long time?!? Talk about nit-picking....Jesus.
Right...not gonna go into the design more than i have. Yours to figure out and understand. But i wouldn't say that the 21(35 T2) CPU units difference between a L s95 and T1 is nit-picking. Also its effectivness over it. Wouldn't you say so?
Quote: Log off after 1 minute - Have you ever had and considered ISP disconnects during a fleet fight and not been able to re-log in - How about that everyone stays in space for 15 minutes in the same spot when they emergency warp eh?! Sounds fun - I can just imagine how killboards would swell with all those lovely kills where people can't fight back. Oh wait - I'd die lots too - time to whine about something else... <see what I did there?>
That i understand. But not when i got someone warp scrambled and he has logged to avoid consequence. Can you understand that?
Originally by: Vyktor Abyss You see only 1 side of the argument No21, and that is why you fail so badly with your posts and have no sympathy for leaving. Goodbye.
I'm not looking for sympathy anyway. Just wanted to show my resent towards CCPs development and now enlighten ppl.
Originally by: Chainsaw Plankton tackling deficiencies on the ferox, moa, and eagle.... because you know like ships designed for sniping should totally be able to fit tank and tackle. and amarr midslot deficiency, well considering our corp flys mainly caldari and amarr ships and pirates... yea we are always missing ships because we cant tackle and we cap out
How about figuring out a setup/arrangement that could do that? But surely you can understand how a ETA could help prolong continuous fire on a Arma with Tachs.

My perception says caldari can solo pvp I guess that must make it true. and I also don't suspect every ccp employee of cheating as I think that they have enough respect for the game to not cheat.
consenus on the forums is that caldari cant pvp they cant use any tackle mods amarr cant pvp they cap out too fast minmatar doesn't do enough dps, all they can do is nano, or they shield tank and can't fit a point/web gallente doesnt have enough cpu for uber blasterthrons, domi/mrym/ishtar just keep getting nerfed, deimos is a diemost

Hmm, before Need for speed was announced there were fleets fights of 500 players easily. The problem come from the above, 1 year after and we still have the same lag as than.

1. Need for Speed = I agree, hasnt helped much 2. Steam = Good Marketing. More dollars = Servers stay up 3. Cash cow = Yes, I would think EVE is profitable. Good thing. No profits = No EVE. 4. Wingman = Neat idea. Good Marketing. 5. Running Two accounts. If you play hardcore, you can run two or three accounts. I am guilty of PVPing on one screen while ratting on the other. I know of many famous pvper who do it. Good profit. Sames me time. :) 6. Balancing and Nerfs = I agree, they suck large. They killed a few of my favourite ships (Myrmidon and Pilgrim) 7. Avoiding combat is a tricky topic. Nobody wants to be 100% committed to every battle, especially if you cant escape. 200M ships can die pretty easy and thats still alot of isk. Hard to balance that one. But I do not agree with Logoffski whatsover!1111 8. Petition system is awesome. I remember once during a fleet OP I undocked in a laggy system and I couldnt release my drones on the Domi. The GM replied in less than 5 minutes.
That pretty much covers your complaints. I understand how frustrating EVE can be. I have quit more times than I can count. I have biomassed many characters.
Then why do I play? Because there is nothing like EVE. Nothing at all.
Take a break from the game and set a long skill. Go try some of the other MMOs. Go play GTA IV. Within a month you will come back with fresh eyes. If you still can't find a reason to play then I would suggest you sell your Character for isk and donate it to your friends.
Remember the old adage. If it aint fun, dont play. Good luck with your choice.

2. Marketing for who? More kids and teenagers that comes to **** you off? Or move into your agent system and increase the latency/load? Restrict new improvements due to their load increase? 3. Profit at the expense of my gameplay? Hell no. I pay them to improve it, not the opposite or not giving a **** about it.

Actually, he pwns his own face and the company he works for. The interest he swayed against me with this rhetoric reply:
Originally by: CCP Lingorm 5) - Actually most of the stuff that seems to get 'cut' as you so eloquently put it is the content that the industrialists, builders, corp managers etc have been screaming for for longer than most of the imbalance threads ... personally I think we should do a WHOLE expansion just for them ... but can you imagine the whine-a-thon that would generate ... but might be worth it ... goes to talk to the content guys.
Can be used against him. If i bring forth that the Need for Speed initiative is more about the money. Just that i find it boring to write down and my thoughts about the reason why and such.

So, I think It all started with them attending http://www.nordicinnovation.net/_img/ci_syntese.pdf and realization of the potential in their core tech, establishment and others IP. Reason why they would attend it might be because of invitation, search for creative artists with putting their company name on it to be known. Or out of interest for expansion and understanding the business they are in. That document is from ôApril 2006ö.
Some tidbits: ôCulture is business - And we are talking big businessö - ôWorldwide the creative industries are growing faster than other economic sectors, thus reflecting the changes in todayÆs wealth-generating economies.ö - ôWith concerted Nordic effort and cooperation, the Nordic region has the capacity to become one of the worlds most dynamic and important regions for creative industries, but this chance only comes around once. We must act now, or accept defeat.ö - ôIPR are the goods of the new economy: Secondly, there is a need for an intensified focus on the area of intellectual property rights (IPR). This can be viewed as the raw material fueling the creative age. The commercial opportunities in this field must be realized.ö
Another document: http://www.nordicinnovation.net/_img/04265_medical_imaging_and_computer_games_final_nice_report1.pdf with CCPs participation. Document dated ôMay 2006ö. With an interesting tidbit:
Computer and TV game industry o Sales in Sweden 2004 170 Million Ç o Annual increase (since 2003) 20 % o From above estimated World market 10 û 15 Billion Ç o Especially on line games 2003 1,9 Billion Ç o On line games 2009 (estimated) 10 billion Ç o Typical development cost for a game Yesterday 1 MÇ, today 4MÇ, tomorrow 10 mÇ
Seize that money? Mode. Initiative. Initiation. Initiate! With that they sought action and IP. Which resulted in: http://www.ccpgames.com/press/press_releases.asp?pressReleaseID=26 . 11 November 2006.
WW Inc. is a good choice in the sense that their IP is developed and constantly so. Others factors are that there are none or few Vampirish MMO Games as far as I know and checked. They seems to have gathered up material for a MMO. I don't think they oversaw EQ(1999) and its success. WoW(2004) is another reason to push for a MMO etc. Getting revenue from their IP. Merged before.
Anyway, a MMO game requiring: Hardware, Developers, Licenses and Marketing is all in need of: MONEY. Investors? Possible. Loan? Possible. Subscribers? Hell yeah. |

2 Months after the merger the NFS initiative was announced(11 Jan 2007): http://myeve.eve-online.com/devblog.asp?a=blog&bid=412 and http://myeve.eve-online.com/updates/indevelopment.asp and from it:
ôThe Need For Speed 2007 A year-long initiative to engineer further optimizations throughout the three arms of EVE û Content, Software, and Hardware û to ensure future scalability and performance. WeÆre shifting the focus towards improving current features rather than add new ones, optimizing and improving current content, and utilizing technology breakthroughs in software and hardware.ö
And one year after(22 Jan 2008): http://www.eve-online.com/pressreleases/default.asp?pressReleaseID=43 .
Surely it can't not be because of the Need for Money? And its intention for getting more subscribers. Well, up to you to buy their bulls**t. Even if or not, the ones that made it possible for CCP to expand should get their d**k sucked/pu**y worked. Especially those that payed thru out those years. I myself find the deceit/intent dismaying. And the cancellation of my accounts the appropriate action to take.
The ambulation project serves a greater function and intent. And that is to create a inhouse game engine for forthcoming games from WW IP. This could have been or probably was pushed by WW. So that they had the power and freedom of control. So that what happened with Troika Games and Bloodlines didn't reoccur http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vampire:_The_Masquerade_-_Bloodlines . Especially if they got royalty from every sold game. They would also hit 2 birds with one stone. Another reason would be that they wouldn't need to pay licenses fees for some other game engine. Look and feel, etc.
http://www.tentonhammer.com/index.php?q=node/620 (6 March 2007).
Can only speculate on what that first SP game would be, but I guess if it followed the 4 year gap between the V:tM games it would be the turn for a new one. Also serve in the sense of fueling the trend and culture of WoD/Vampires.
Or continuing the Hunter series with Hunter: The Vigil. But I kinda doubt it with Blades absence from the media. =) .
Or where the greater interest lies, Exalted. If you check WW forum and number of posts.
Creating interest for what WoD will be about would probably be in their greater interest.
Might create under a new topic depending on the responses.

I always lose faith in you guys when it's taking you seemingly forever to fix "simple" but extremely annoying things that you come across every single time you play the game. (like the current "resetting" overview/drones/fleet windows bug and the old resetting camera to max zoom-in after jump/undock)
You realy should pay more attention to these "little" things as they are more important than you can imagine... the details make the champs.
Anyway, I'm a masochist and wub you |
