Well Papa, end of the day I can only go on what you chaps are actually saying. If there are issues of overlap then speak up by all means and lets look at consensus. But you have to be aware that when the chief spokesperson for Goonswarm on these forums appears to be Goumindong its going to represent you guys in a particular light. But as for what Goons "want" - you got 2 reps on the council. Use those guys to speak for you. Its not really rocket science.

Sometimes there is a little justice to be found in the universe... Bloody good show Jade! The chair could not have gone to an abler person and I have no doubt you will acquit yourself excellently in said position.
As for the goons: a sadder bunch of winners (2reps!) have seldom been seen.

You shouldn't let petty grudges get in the way of representing the whole of the Eve Community.

Quote: But their issues are not my issues in the main, I neither like nor appreciate much of the specific gameplay focus they crave nor do I think that focus is actually very good for the future of Eve online the successful MMORPG.
As the chairman you're supposed to represent every single player. You've been biased from the very beginning counting on the votes of people who mostly never fully experienced the game and the problems that 0.0 warfare presents. Now that you finally got what you wanted you should display some maturity, because ignoring these concerns can kill a huge part of the game, and I'm pretty sure you're aware of the huge amount of 0.0 systems that exist in the EVE Universe outside Empire space.
Goons are the best at this point and time to talk about this issue. You're not intending to help EVE, you're intending to make YOUR gameplay style better.
Sad.

You'd think Goons would realize they're only further marginalizing every player in their alliance with each troll. The Eve public doesn't buy it.

Negative. As chairman I'm going to ensure the CSM works smoothly. As CSM rep I'm going to do exactly what I promised to do in the Manifesto in the op post of this thread, and that involves promoting pvp enhancement, gameplay dynamism, increased variety and conflict opportunity and more risk and fiscally-annihilating mayhem in 0.0 space.
Quote: You've been biased from the very beginning counting on the votes of people who mostly never fully experienced the game and the problems that 0.0 warfare presents.
I'm going to have be stern now and say ... Goons, please get over yourselves. Eve Online is not about you. You're a single 0.0 power (currently in decline). You have no more knowledge about "what Eve is about" than any other collection of players and often considerably less. There is a vast universe of player experience out there and I've got precisely no interest in hearing only one point of view continually expressed by a collection of self-appointed goonie savants rabbiting on about why they know so much about this subject and that.
I honestly don't believe the goons are experts in 0.0 warfare. Sorry but there it is.

Speaking personally I've got absolutely no interest answering goonie concerns or questions at this point in the process. They are free like any other player to post an [Issue] style thread and if I'm interested in it I might post an observation or reply. Otherwise, I'm going to consider myself entirely at liberty to ignore offtopic and irrelevant posts and focus on useful and progressive issues going forward.

I apologize but CCP did not establish a "Goon Council" of any type. You are the chairman of a council that represents all Eve players and that includes Goons. Divisive statements such as this are of no benefit, actually directly detrimental to the very idea of the council itself and I'm quite put off by it.
I may not choose to agree with someone who e-sex roleplays as a "Gallente born and raised, and tutored as a pleasure slave and courtesan to the exotic tastes of the Amarri court." in their dirty e-brothels, but I don't have a choice. I represent every player of Eve. You do too. That's what you signed on for when you chose to run for the council.

I recommend both sides to change the approach towards each other. A chairmain saying to ignore issues brought by the largest alliance in game is poor, as much as said vocal voices from the formal clearly making everything possible to highjack a sucessfull CSM start also doesn't look good.
We're all skeptical about how things will work, if they will at all. I'd like to remind all that it was not the elections per se the most important part of this process but the now and on. Let's keep an eye on things and see how those representats will act and if nothing else, after six months their reputation will be brought forth as a good voice for us or someone we will never trust again.
What we can do now is give a little trust to make them going. Jade is a chairmain for public vote and resigning this position per se would break the trust the player base put on him. It's the player voter base who decided, so I say he maintain things this way is the best policy.
Goons, you have 2 reps there. You have at least 2 or I dare to say 3 other reps there that will support your views without a doubt. Anyone who sees a bit of politics in game knows this. I say: use it this way instead of trying to put such an agressive front here. It's the best policy. You'll see time will tell.
Regards and congratulations to the elected.

Before you say "post with your main", this alt is all I have left. I'm gonna give you a very carefully writen post without trolls or any kind of offense in the hopes that someone who read will understand.
See, we don't care about "marginalizing every single player in our alliance." We don't care about it. Goons have been marginalized since early days even when we didn't have reason for - ironically - being "newbies in T1 Frigates" who dared to attack the elitist corporations.
From the second someone joins GS, they're pretty aware of the treatment they'll receive from EVE. If they complain, they leave or are kicked. Everyone is aware of it from the first moment. No one in the GS forums bash others for "Dude!! You're making us look evil! Delete this post."
Now, a bunch of EVE Players marginalize our opinions because we're seen as elitists, or not representative of the casual players. But we're used to it. We take the game seriously, but understand it's just a game and what others think about us won't really change our lives. And this is why this whole "the Eve public doesn't buy it" is completely pointless.
Now, the second thing you don't get:
Goons troll a lot. The sad thing about these threads, however, is that most posts aren't trolls. There is a real, serious worry about the future of EVE that is clearly being ignored here. What it sounds to most of us is that all these "representative" ignore a lot of serious treats to EVE to focus on their very, very own playstyle.
Early on I said that the CSM should have every kind of people. I hated Eva Jobse, but she represented a fair part of the EVE Gamers which happened to be our opposite - The carebears. If I could, for example, vote for all CSM members, Eva Jobse surely would get one of my votes.
As the Chairman, however, I honestly think Darius is the most qualified man. He runs the biggest alliance and in this alliance is included miners, mission runners, low-sec pvpers, high-sec pvpers, 0.0 wars, logistics people, moon miners. I did all of those, I know it. And Darius needs to check up all of these things. We definitely cannot represent the carebears, but we have a fair amount of experience on everything else.
And I'm sure, my friend, that we all agree that EVE is a harsh world.
Jade however has no idea about what is going on in the other half of the game right now - namely 0.0. To top it off, Jade seems to have a personal grudge against us, being pro-BoB and all. Which is stupid, since I know people in BoB who realize our weight in the game and in the CSM enough to give us support to help fixing some things. Problems that are common to every single one of us.
This attitude coming from the Chairman is ridiculously dangerous to the game. Jade is supposed to take an instance as neutral as he can, and it's clear he's not even trying or wanting to.
At the end of the day, Goonswarm is the alliance that promote EVE on the magazines. Goonswarm is the alliance that talks about EVE. Goonswarm is the alliance that is interviewed, and talks about how big is the EVE universe. I could even go as far as say that Goonswarm's methods, ruthless or questionable, are the ones that best represent the RP world of EVE - cruel, cold, dark. At the end of the day, Goonswarm is the alliance that showed how a bunch of newcomers could have a huge impact in the game and that the 0.0 universe wasn't as Skillpoint-reserved and elitist as others thought it would be. Goonswarm is an alliance that brought thousands of new players to the game.
Simply being ignored because of the chairman when we're the only ones together with one or two other CSMs who care about 0.0, a huge part of the game, is childish. Is immature. Is sad.

Or your BoB friends who had no open interest in the CSM?
Also regarding "there's a vast universe of player experience ... and I've got precisely no interest in hearing only one point of view" please tell us then how are you gonna care about 0.0 based in the CSM members, not taking goons in consideration. I'm sure that your massive presence in the recent 0.0 wars together with the others will be really helpful. I almost forgot there's a huge amount of people with 0.0 experience in the current CSM.
"In decline" are bold words for someone who disappeared from the community for so long and who is in favor of the most elitist alliance there was in the game. Thanks for showing how elitist you are.

It's true. They're not gratuitous. People aren't posting against Jade because it's fun, they do so because there's a serious concern not being addressed here.
Have you ever been lagged to death in a 300v300 fight? Have you ever lost an expensive ship to a desync when not being able to do anything? Have you ever sieged a Large POS a major alliance in the game for hours? Have you ever seen hundreds of people die to exploits against you, or saw an exploit used against hundreds of enemy ships?
Most people seems to think that 0.0 is Green Lands. Every single player has concerns, including the goons in this thread.
Now, you're the one who trolled. I'm being as polite as I can when dealing with people who clearly dislike us.

That is a horrible troll because you have no idea what you're talking about. It's common agreement that SirMolle, having a deep knowledge of 0.0 issues would be a much better Chairman. Goons and BoB may be enemies but they have exactly the same concerns and issues.
Recently Dianabolic signed up in the SA Forums. Although there are many things the alliances disagree, there is a lot in common when it would come as valid gameplay concerns.
To be quite honest, if the hate for goons would cause a massive amount of people voting for SirMolle instead of Jade, it would be much, much better than the mess it is now.

Well the Goon response was pretty obvious from the outset of this. I rather thought that even if they secured all 9 seats there would STILL be attempts at Goon disruption. As we have seen from Eve and other games the SA forums have become involved in they have no agenda apart from getting thier jollies by annoying people. So be it. You do not have the power to require Darius to attend an arbitrary meeting at your convenience or forfeit his vote. Nowhere is that stated as your authority, a vague statement that is your responsibility to perform the vote doesn't give you ultimate power. A simple discussion (with or without Darius) followed by a 24 hour voting period (in a thread or similar) would be the easiest method for electing positions.
Clearly the smallest amount of power has gone to your spiky platinum blond head.

You cannot call anyone into place to vote in my stead, as I have not chosen to not attend an official meeting of the CSM. You've made a thread for the voting and that is where the voting will take place. Publicly, where a council vote should take place.
The first official meeting of the CSM is Saturday. The "informal" meeting you stated was to occur tonight, with absolutely no communication or notice I might add aside from this thread, was to discuss in your words the "responsibilities" of the vice-chair, secretary and vice-secretary. Those roles, much like yours are clearly spelled out in the CSM founding documents. There's nothing to discuss.
You don't get to hijack the process to suit your own purposes. Instead of wasting everyone's time with inconsequential attempts to redefine what has already been defined perhaps you could do something useful. A CSM meeting calendar is something that comes to mind. You know, one of your actual responsibilities.

The problem is that CCP are completely inept when it comes to writing clear documentation. The CSM.pdf contains 13 pages of roleplay/metagame waffle that no one is going to read and is no consequence and then each step of the process (where the technical details should be) is covered in a simplistic short paragraph without even a comment about where clarifications should be sought.

This is the main point I think. The actual document is not very well put to gether and there are a few ways to read each point that actually is covered. Personally I believe CCP needs to put MUCH more effort into creating a working guideline for the CSM rather than expecting them to come up with it themselves. Especially seeing as some of the council seem to trying to be as devisive as possible. ---

Originally by: Illaria I always loved to read Goonswarms own delusions of grandeur. Thanks for providing me with new entertainment. This is all quite delicious.
I think this sea of Goonswarm tears could have only been surpassed if SirMolle himself would have been elected to chairman.
Quite funny that he didn't even sign up, uh?
That is a horrible troll because you have no idea what you're talking about. It's common agreement that SirMolle, having a deep knowledge of 0.0 issues would be a much better Chairman. Goons and BoB may be enemies but they have exactly the same concerns and issues.
Recently Dianabolic signed up in the SA Forums. Although there are many things the alliances disagree, there is a lot in common when it would come as valid gameplay concerns.
Didn't you know it?
Jade is Molles roleplaying alt. Thus he ochastrated the GNW. Dude, this is common knowledge in the community since 2005. Next thing you'll do is probably installing TT as a director for your capital program.
Oh and yes and I agree, Dianabolic signing up to a forum community of 117k users of which the Goonswarm represents only a tiny amount is a sure sign of some hot manly BoB on Goon love. I'm sure they have a lot of e-respect for you.
Though I admit that Diana is probably indeed the most Goon like of the BoB celebrities.
