Well, it seems you made Chairwoman, congrats. I trust you are aware of this added responsibility and will not squander it lightly with ad hominem attacks and the pursuit of personal differences with other representatives. You of all CSM members will be least able to play favourites and push your own agenda lest this council is to fail before ever having assembled. (Forgive my skepticism. It has been an emotional fortnight. ;) ) |

Never thought in a million years jade would get the chair, what a pleasant supprise.
Ofcourse this means that the majority of players actually agree with jades position and THAT is very promising indeed.
Nice one jade, excellent campaign |

Originally by: Xofii one must be stupid to vote for jade,
That is exactly what i was implying. But that does not make it ad hom. Ad hom is an argument, not a statement. That was a statement. I will say that stupid people vote for Jade because Jades platform hinges on people not understanding what will happen if you implement her ideas. In short, they are voting against their interest to have a more fun game because they do not have the capacity to know that Jades ideas will make the game less fun(if they did have that capacity they would clearly have not voted for Jade unless they were acting completely irrational, which would then qualify them for the first group anyway).
The conclusion is "stupid people voted for Jade". The argument is nothing of the sort.
The argument(the inference) alone determines validity(the state where the conclusion must be true if the premises are true), the premises and validity determine cogency(where the premise is true and the inference is valid). But the conclusion determines nothing. When attacking an argument you must either attack the premise, or the validity. If there is no fault to be found in either then the argument is cogent. If the argument is cogent the conclusion must be true.
Now, i will say that the above argument is not necessarily cogent. It hangs on an "unproven" premise[that Jades ideas are bad for the game, and unproven is in quotes, because its simply not been proven in this thread, while it has been proven elsewhere many times], but the argument is valid, and it is not an ad-hominem.
To put it simply:
Ad hominem does not mean "he said something mean to me". Ad hominem means "You are wrong because its you laying out the argument". Notice how "you laying out the argument" is not part of the premise. Nor is it part of the inference. That is why it is a logical fallacy.

Im delighted to see this result. Not only cause Jade will be part of the CSM but even more important, that the majority of the voters share the vision of what EVE is and should be.
Congrats Jade, the CSM couldnt have a better chairman. |

I would just like to politely point out that a majority of voters did not vote for Jade. However congratulations on your win Jade, hopefully the council will be able to do some good. |

Congratulations Jade, so glad you made it, and by majority vote too, nice.
Goumindog, stop whining and accept defeat. If you are calling everyone voting for Jade stupid then you are calling the majority who won stupid, not really making any friends here are you? Just quit it. It isn't productive in any way. |

Still the vision Jade was putting forward got him the most votes, which is a good start. |

lol @ goons asking a million times for Jade to resign. Ask yourselves this, maybe, if Darius' campaign was better, maybe, if your turnout was higher, he would be chairman - not that it changes anything, really.
Did he order you on forums to ask this question as he did to rig the election?

Please stay on topic in this thread. A valid question about Jade's campaign has been asked in this thread and yet you bring other candidates into Jade's thread. Clearly the appropriate place to ask questions of Darius would be in his thread.

I don't know why should Jade put his Chairman position to vote when he was selected chairman by the voters. This is of course his decision to make, but I didn't vote for Jade so he could then let someone I didn't vote for decide if he should stay a Chairman.
I suggest you Goons quit your petty lamentations, and let your representatives work on getting the council functional instead with the choices you are given.

I would ask you once again to stay on topic in this thread.
Jade Constantine, why was your first action as CSM Chairperson to welcome HALF of the other CSM representatives and say you looked forward to working with them? Did you intend to factionalize the CSM from the very beginning or was that an unintended consequence of your badly thought out actions? For the CSM candidates to work effectively it is required that the Chair work to create cohesion within the council so progress can be made on a variety of topics. Given your already divisive actions how can you claim that you will be an effective Chair?

Jade stated himself that he would put the Chair position up for a vote within the CSM if he was elected to the Chair. This alone should mean that he does so. A liar does not make a good CSM Chair. It is Jade's right (and I woulda argue moral duty) to stand down as stated in the CSM.pdf:
"If the Chairman decides to step down or rescind his responsibility during this time for any reason, a vote must be held among Representatives to replace him." [In this quote 'this time' refers to the time during the election of the Vice Chair etc.]

Thank you Tecam! And yep, the goons are certainly free to send their issues to either of their reps on the council. I'm sure those guys will be happy to answer specific goonie complaints as well. Speaking personally I've got absolutely no interest answering goonie concerns or questions at this point in the process. They are free like any other player to post an [Issue] style thread and if I'm interested in it I might post an observation or reply. Otherwise, I'm going to consider myself entirely at liberty to ignore offtopic and irrelevant posts and focus on useful and progressive issues going forward.

Agreed. The members of Goonswarm are people too. No better or worse than their fellow players. With the things they've been called at times, that's practically a complement! Haha.
I'm actually very glad with how the election turned out, because the closing numbers really showed that every vote counted for quite a lot in the end, and as a voter, that's a good feeling.
Congratulations, Jade!

well done Jade. Your efforts have paid off. It going to get very busy for you and the other members from here on in, bu tI am very glad that you will be chairman as I know first hand the great ideas you seek to bring to EvE.
Congrats also to Hardin and the others who will of course bring balance to the whole counsil and should result in great well thought through ideas being presented to CCP.

And yep, goonies are players certainly and they have their representation. But their issues are not my issues in the main, I neither like nor appreciate much of the specific gameplay focus they crave nor do I think that focus is actually very good for the future of Eve online the successful MMORPG. I stood for election on the issues in this Manifesto and these are the issues and items of interest I'm going to be active in advocating on the council. Goons have 2 of their own reps to pester for increased POS spam and de-weaponing titans and nerfing nano and all that guff - they don't need my help!
All the best

You are correct, you did not mention neutrality as part of your campaign. Unfortunately you did mention that you would step down as Chair if you were elected, a stance which you have failed to follow through on.
And you've also failed to address valid questions in this thread. You're a lame duck Chair with an axe to grind and everyone can see it now.
