As someone without a single alt, I'm freakin RAGING about this now.. *rage rage rage* Can't you see how mad I am CCP?
Nah but seriously, it's not really about people getting more votes, it's more about people that have lots of alts might have different opinions and a different view on things compared to those with only one Account. Let's say one candidate wants to limit the client usage to only one client per computer, none of the people with alts would vote for him, but maybe alot of other people would. This would really skew the vote, because all other candidates would recieve significantly more votes from the multi-account players! One of the candidates even said he'll try and bring forward issues that are important to the newer players, and I have a hard time imagining 1-3 months players with 5 accounts, or even 2 or 3.. The ones who benifit the most are probably the old, hardcore players that have been stacking up lots of alts since they've started playing, so the candidate they favour will have a big advantage towards the more casual ones.. And this comes from an company based in Iceland, which has the worlds oldest and still functional democracy.. And no, It's not a any trolling attempt.. |

I have two accounts, but I voted only once.
Don't assume that most multi-account players will bother logging and relogging their accounts to vote more than once. |

Please prove this claim. I don't think that players with multiple accounts have generally another opinion than players with only one account.
Furthermore I don't think that all the really new players even bother with this whole CSM elections and problems concerning EvE since they are still figuring out how to fit a ship properly... |

Imagine my surprise when I got a little pop-up message on the 3rd vote saying that people with multiple accounts will get a free Polaris Frigate to play with on Christmas day! |

If it helps you, the board is influential only. Not decision making!
Also I think its fair that those who invest in the game should have a little more say in it! So letting those who LOVE the game so much that they invest a lot in it by owning plenty accounts have a little more to say then those who do not is only fair.
I think you could compare it to like a shareholders democracy. More shares you own, more your votes counts.
And my votes went for Jade and OS. So dont let me down guys!

This thread took way too long to be created. I'm sure if they could have prevented alts from voting they would have, but you can't prevent alts from anything, which is the whole problem with them to begin with.

I think its better to compare EVE voting to shareholder voting IRL; you're electing people to represent your "stake" in EVE Online. People with multiple accounts give more money to CCP each month, so they have more to lose if the devs make changes that are inconsistent with their preferences about how the game should work. |

Why is one man, one vote, in implicitly better than one account one vote?
I mean, even if the multi account people do have a different opinion, surely the weight of their opinion, is proportionate to the revenue they represent.
Plus, good luck controlling voting with multiple accounts. It's virtually impossible. |

Its been my experience that the people with alot of accounts are too busy managing them all to pay attention to the issues at hand, so its we single-account users that has all da power.
Of course this theory is based soley on the five people i know with multiple accounts that i deal with regularly, but I figure its as valid an argument as most of the tripe you'll find on the forums |

if one of them advocated 1 account per person he would get nowhere, remember it's just advisory, ccp doesn't have to do what they say (thank the Maker) and they would never do something silly as this. |

I don't think that it was ever implicitly stated that multiple votes in Eve-related polls was a benefit of alts. Easy mode in-game is enough benefit for multiple account holders. |

Nor was it implicitly stated that it was not, and since a second account is the same as a second person when it comes to the dollars in CCP's pocket it is implicitly implied that I get the same rights as two people if I pay the same money as two people. I think it is only fair, as others have said, that the people with the most invested in the game have the largest say in where it is going. If you think that myself, a 2 year veteran, and one of my mates who just finished trial have equally valid opinions and that our votes should count for the same amount then you are a sad fool. |

I don't want to get into a lengthy argument about it so I'll say that I'll agree to disagree. But my argument is that the only thing people with multiple accounts have over those with one account is a greater investment of money. Personally I think that saying that the money alone allows for extra votes is like saying that bribery should entitle people to extra votes. Also, people with multiple accounts haven't experienced anything that a person with one account can't experience as well. Multiple accounts does not necessarily translate into more in-game experience, so that issue can't justify multiple votes either. |

I would have to quit if they limited the game to one account per system. I am sure many others would as well and exponentially that could be a bad thing.

So the vote is biased towards people with multiple accounts.
You know, the people with the most invested in the game.
I'm cool with that.

Interestingly, while you can say "If they pay more for it, they deserve a bigger voice",,, what about all those people who maintain alts by buying GTC for isk? Surely by that reasoning the people who bought the GTC from the shop get to have their voice heard more than the people who bought the GTC for isk.
For the record, I don't agree with anything I said there, just making a statement :) Personally internet spaceship politiking doesn't concern me. |
