Originally by: Gilgamoth I support the principle of a mid ranged hauler (circa 150k - 200k m3), but as to whether it's a small freighter with no slots, or a large industrial with slots is a different debate.
General agreement here. I would personally prefer a hauler with one mid and one high slot (for a cloak and a BS-sized MWD) -- essentially a larger, fatter Impel -- because that's way more survivable in 0.0.

I support the implementation of a medium sized hauler. Right now the gap is ludicrously large, both in terms of skills, ISK cost, and capacity.
Hauler can do a 15k-20k. Freighter 750k. Hauler costs about 1m. Freighter about 1b. Hauler can be trained in a day or two. Freighter takes (usually) more than a month.
We need one stepping stone at least, in between those two. In combat ship terms, it would be as though there were no ships in between the destroyer and the carrier.
I'd like to see more 'profession' oriented ships as a whole.

I support this as well. Having Just used the Corp Freighter to Move alot of Fuel out to the Corp POS, It is very nerve wracking to be carrying a lot of Isk in Fuel into the .2 system the POS is in. A Smaller slightly more Agile freighter would have helped alot. Something in the 100k M^3 catagory would be super.

I'd like the space to be around the size for one freight container, so 120,000 m3. -- Knowledge is Power! |

indeed, that seams a logical size for a mid ranged freighter. enough to carry a few ships around, while packed up, while impinging on neither the freighter nor the jump freighter.

probally not the worst idea, some kind of trailer for t2 indus, that you can upgrade you ship and that slows you donwn a lot so that you have to be at the pc hwile you haul :D

Freighters are just too much when all you want is mid-range hauls. They're too slow and they're too expensive for that size of hauls, and it's not like their roles would be replaced - 900k m3 of capacity is still very much essential, just not most of the time. ------

Edited by: Stefan F on 31/05/2008 18:22:25 As long as the following criteria are met I dont see problems implementing one:
- isk/m3 shouldn't be better (so 120km3 should cost around 120M to build) - no fitting (so no cloaks, mwd and stabs) - no higher agility - no faster warps - no scooping/dropping cans - roughly same skill requirements

I'll support this too. Also because a Freighter class ship is most of the time to expensive for the "little" man.

1. Art is not that hard to create, nor does it take very long.
OR 2. Use ship graphics of existing industrials.
Fittings:
These small freighters should follow the same fitting policy of freighters. "Ruppie ain't no puppie." |

Perhaps a re-do of the Transport class of ships to give them much more capacity would fill this role. The blockade runner serves a purpose, but it's sister ship doesn't really.
