Edited by: Von Schnopp on 29/05/2004 09:57:22 A truly nice model Chade, imo it's gallente lines all the way. I can see you had the Megathron in mind when creating the fuselage and the bridge etc which is good.
Somebody said it resembled Caldari ship design due to it's asymmetric design. Just to remind you, the gallente designed Thorax has an ventral engine gondola offset slighlty to the right and a generally asymmetric engine configuration in overall. The Exequror also has an asymmetric design. As I see it there's only one race that designs truly symmetric ships and that's Amarr.
Keep up the good work, I do hope we'll get more ships to play with and new exciting designs. Not as much as to provide functionality as to add to the flavour, a large mix of ships is what we need after a year in EVE. :)

ya make the argo more asymetric, like the megathron n the thorax, give it some textures like the dominix, and it will be the perfect gallente carrier!!!

Well, here's a WIP of mine. Neither destroyer nor dreadnought, this is supposed to be a Gallente carrier, named "Argo" after the ship from Greek mythology. Mostly lacking in the aft part, and I'm not happy about the silvery pieces (idea stolen shamelessly from the Dominix). But it's a start. Textures are, ahem, a lot of work to paint, so this takes a while to do. Mesh itself is not really high poly count, something like 4800 triangles.
Enjoy!

Ciao, Aronis!
definetly the best ship by far here
though it doesnt remind me of a galente ship, reminds me more of a huge bestower or just basicly an amarr ship, change the color to a yellowish gold and you have a perfect amarr ship
could you post wireframes of your model?

Edited by: Deep Spacer on 31/05/2004 23:13:32 That 'Argo' ship is insane... one of the best looking ships ive seen, including anything in the game. it just looks like a massive ship, able to take on anything. Texture is great, looks like u could drop it right into the game with very lil modding. Beautiful ship...id sell everything i own in game for one of those
Edit: im an idiot and cant make readable sentences

The Argo one is good....but doesnt it look a bit much like a bestower? Swap it to be yellowish instead of green and there ya go! ------------------------------------------------

When compared to the ships in game now, most of these pale in comparison.
None of these even come close to the creativity and imagination of the Scorpion, Raven, Megathron, and even tempest.
Where's the creativity?
That Meridium sure does look nice though.

Personally, I have to dissagree. Not that I dont love this game, but I think the models of almost every battleship and cruiser, and most of the frigates in this game are butt ugly.
Some of these models are awesome, imo. +++

The one thing I've noticed through all of these ships is that they all have that gritty, gutty feel to them. Not very graceful or symmetrical. :)
Nice work by all! S!

Yes, I like the Hyperion very much. I see nothing wrong with a player-contest of the arts. Easy enough prize too; give the winners one of the ships they designed ;)
This works since players get to have a really lasting effect on the game, and may even help the design team a bit..

Yeah i like the Hyperion, has more of a sense of scale / capital ship feel, many of the ships in EVE feel / look more like toys than 1 million ton hunks of battleship (e.g. Megathon)

I dunno, looks more like a luxary cruise liner than a warship to me.
Does kindof look like a concord ship though. Maybe this will be concords dreadnought??
(one thing is always bothered me about those concord ships is all the "wings" they have. Space ships don't need wings )
EDIT: Man I can't spell!
