Edited by: Mesrin''s dame on 10/11/2008 00:45:14 Full support. Didn't bother to read the other posts but I would rly like to see the option to dock a corp hangar array in someone else's POS if this idea doesn't go through with the alliance hangars. We have a mutual pos with our alliance guys and we would rly like everyone to have their own hangar in the pos. Would save us alot of time an money on jump fuel if we could acces the corp hangar array in the pos and have our own corp tab that we could use.
In any case: SIGNED! Timing is everything, always try to be fashionably late |

Alliance hangars as an extra layer above corp hangars, yes.

IIRC in the 1st CSM meeting CCP said there was a technical limitation in the architecture of player>corp>alliance and hangar code that would require a major re-write.
What is the major thing you want to solve with this? Would it be satisfied by having market orders restricted to alliance only, or a faster way to make alliance only contracts?

Serenity, the main goal of the suggestion was to be able to pool items for use by an alliance, allowing corporations to give and take as needed in an efficient manner. Corporations already have this ability for their employees via corp hangars. I was merely suggesting the next logical step, allowing alliances the same ability. Since this apparently will not happen due to CCP manpower limitations, Alliance-only market orders would not be the worst compromise I could think of. Unfortunately, I cannot think of a system that would be anywhere near as elegant as the drag-and-drop simplicity for players that an alliance hangar would provide. Even if it would require major changes to the code, based upon the support this thread has garnered, it would be a good endeavor for CCP to undertake for the happiness of the player-base.

I could see this working, given that its access is limited and has some sort of security (mail the directors of executing corp) when something moves. You could limit access to CEOs ? Or CEOs plus one chosen member.
Also, I think the logistics don't need to be complicated. Limit to 3 tabs, could even be pre-named (Fuel, ships, other). Might be limiting for some, but limiting the use will also limit the work involved in making the feature from the get go.

there is a function in POS corp hangers that allow corp hanger access to alliance. its kinda broken at the moment tho.
if it could be set to allow read only for one way use.. like depositing ore or ice from a alliance level operation that would be nice.
Or give and take for alliance level logistics.
but still.. access still comes down to the corp level "hanger access other" roles.
to prevent thieves POS managers can password shields and give passwords out to those that need to have access.

Edited by: Vuk Lau on 09/03/2009 09:29:24 I was already proposed this idea by more then few players, and as leader of one big alliance I totally support this it. Both small and big alliances can benefit from this. I will raise it for the following meeting.

I see no downside. The security risks would be identical to the existing hangar system, and would be managed the same way. If a given alliance felt the risks were too high, they would not have to use it!

Good! I hope to see VAST improvements to the way alliances are permitted to operate via providing more options to players sometime soonish. Really, any organization of players should never ever be limited by a simple (simple in the negative context of the word) user interface.
Whether or not you win the game matters not. It's if you bought it. |
