In Fade yesterday, Red Alliance entered L-C3 with a 120 man fleet seemingly to reinforce some towers stating that they were here for our stations (ours being Project Alice, Malice and CLF).
Soon after their support fleet moved next door into the Malice. home system of C4C. Their support fleet as well as some carriers moved into position at Club Vandersexx and began to attack the cloning service. They cyno'd in around 40 or so capitals that they had next door (barring one Revelation which was pointed outside of the L-C3 station, forcing their support to come back to get it untackled).
RA was able to reinforce all 5 large towers in C4C. I approached their FC to see what terms could be reached for a surrender and basically received the ultimatum "turn your towers off sov-claim today and we'll see", however the most interesting thing about this discussion with Greenhalf was that after speaking with him for a time he offered my alliance the chance to remain in the area as residents without sovereignty if we promised to assist in taking Cloud Ring.
I informed him no deal could be struck without us continuing to hold sov in our current stations. He then offered the stations in Cloud Ring to us if we assisted them in their campaign which was laughable considering the low quality of the region (sorry Sacul <3).
It remains to be seen if RA is truly interested in Cloud Ring or if they will be heading to Deklein. One thing is for certain, RA are not out looking for good fights but simply to throw their weight around opportunistically in power vacuums against smaller, fledgling alliances grabbing territory and high-value moons while NNC shows their usual cowardly demeanor and inability to look two steps forward until it's one of their home systems under attack.
As far as Cloud Ring goes, RA continues to beat their chest as if that was their goal in taking all the stations in Pure Blind and Fade so be prepared UNNAT.
For now, C4C station's name has been changed to "Strontium Timers set to LOL" and that's exactly how we feel, with the last tower coming out tomorrow around 0400GMT.

Having been -10 to RA for the past 3-4 years, I can say this: RA are like patient wolves. They can bring numbers, and have the ships and the monetary capital to back up most (if not all) of what they choose to bring to the table (whether being in a defensive or offensive posture). Whether *you* can manage a sustainable defense against that is entirely based on the level of patience and dedication your alliance membership has. Suffice it to say, if 80% of your Malice does decide to cut and run, you won't be the first, so take it on the chin if that's how it plays out.
Otherwise dig your friggin heels in.

I hate real life analogies projected on eve but seeing some reactions to RA spreading its wings makes me think of 1950's home guards classics like "Duck and Cover"
I demand ccp introduce a 'scorched earth' feature, when you have sov. 2 you can blow up all the stations in the constellation and laugh at the hordes coming in system
You could have attleast attempted a token fight play dead since well ermm RA has proven how to set a alarm clock before. I am sure they will lol hard at your stront timer when nobody but them is in local and you sleep sound.

Berlin is Nol, you see much like the second world war, the two "war machines" or deus ex machina of war (socio-political-military-industrial-hegemonies) much represented as actors in this "drama" of sorts, is maleable to the interpretations of the psyche or projections of rational interlude in the paradigmatic ontical representation of "nowness" or "then-ness" comparable to a reinterpretation of the rationality dependent on the otherness of historical adjuntment within the re-personification of otherness associated with the trans-temporal-symetry of the socio-groupings of this game or "playing-togetherness"

This pretty much isn't all that far from the truth. What BoB thinks of this, I don't know, they are probably the only entity in Eve atm that could stand toe to toe with RA and be successful.
Everybody else need to be watching themselves. I see no reason for RA not to attack the NNC. With the exception of BoB, there really isn't any alliance or coalition of alliances in Eve atm that could stand up to RA. It basically is gonna take another massive NAPfest similar to the one that pushed BoB back in order to keep RA from owning whatever they want to own.

I have to agree with you. BoB can stand up to RA, there is no need for them to NAP anybody. Nor would they IMO. Obviously I don't know what's in BoB's head, but it's my belief that they would rather die to RA (Not that I can honestly see it happening) than NAP with the likes of RZR, MM, etc.
The question is, where does that leave the rest of Eve? Having seen both RA and the NNC in action, it is my opinion that the NNC would not be able to hold back RA should RA make a serious bid at taking their space. And who else is there? RAGoon, the NNC, and the GBC are really the only major power blocs in Eve atm. Smashkill have their hands full with Goons alone atm, IAC have enough internal problems of their own to deal with. INSRG and friends really have no interest in engaging in a large-scale fight like that.
If RA decided that they wanted to own all of 0.0, much like BoB said they wanted to a few years back, what would stop them?

Couldn't of said it better myself. It only serves their little coalition right that they are destroyed by the same individuals that they joined the nap fest with against the "common evil" of BoB and the gbc.
Quote: I have to agree with you.
Well the NNC could delay the inevitable... But tbh I do see BoB and the gbc being the only thing standing in RA's way of dominance of 0.0, and its my belief that the gbc is more then capable of withstanding an assault. If the huge coalition couldnt kill them before, RA by themselves won't be able to either.
If I were Band of Brothers, I would be keeping my eyes on three places. Catch, Fountain, and paragon soul.
Catch- -A- has in fact been taking sov, and IAC wont be able to withstand punishment much longer. I would give IAC 3 months to live if things keep going on like they are. Whether or not this could be BoB's change to get GF's and take catch forthemselves in the aftermath is up to them.
Fountain- Not that bruce was ever a threat, but now that they are pulling out to syndicate, and PL is setting up shop, I think BoB reclaiming all of fountain wont be too big of a task. PL is just keeping it warm.
Paragon soul- Blackout folded in no time flat, goons are busy in geminate. Chances are they didn't want that region anyway.
Im interested in seeing what the map looks like 3 months from now as old coalition partners die under the onslaughts of BoB, goonswarm and RA. |

Couldn't have said it better myself. I honestly don't see the GBC or RA going after each other. It would be way to much of a meatgrinder for whichever side took to the offensive. Both sides have enough capital support to crash a node with using only caps, and the end result would be a lot of ships lost without any real progress being made.
The NNC is a bit different. I honestly think they have the manpower and resources to withstand a RA assault. However, the thing I question about them is their resolve. I think if RA made a strong push into the north, we would see an epic clash for the first month, maybe two, but I would see the NNC cave under the relentlessness of RAs assault.

Edited by: Dalamar One on 04/06/2008 05:59:34 Agreed, it's all very political atm.
If we look at the 3 playing factions it is a game of cat and mouse.
Currently, BOB and the GBC are recovering from a very long war. BOB is strong and determined but no doubt it is taking a small, well deserved, break from a long war.
The Southern coalition is no doubt taking a sort of break from the war against BOB. However, it has a few fights going on internally, which was quite expected from the start. Such as various alliances withing the coalition being left out to dry or being attacked. Such as CA in feyth, then KOS against AAA, then Black-out. Plus, goons are attacking Smashkill which does have some northern friends. RA is running all over the map.
The northern coalition is securing it's assets and sort of sitting back it seems. It has RA and the southern coalition approaching on it's outer territories in some areas.
If we look at each section, we can see what may be going on.
BOB and the GBC are recovering after a very long war that had great odds against them. We can argue numbers all day, but most of their original pets/allies were not very pvp oriented. Overall, they survived and are rebuilding slowly. It is unlikely that BOB will do anything that will provoke a strong response, so I see any major offensives/defenses being limited to their border regions of fountain and paragon souls. I doubt anything will happen in catch.
The northern coalition is in a unique position. It has control of alot of territory in the north. And while the Northen coalition is strong and could probably withstand an assault by RA, it is unlikely that it could handle an assault by the southern coalition or the GBC. So the leaders are most likely trying to sit back atm and assess the situation and see what is going on. They will not make a move against BOB without the southern coalition. Plus, they will most likely let RA move in on their moons/territory slightly to prevent a southern coalition attack.
The southern coalition is trying to play clean up. While RA is taking what it can because others are afraid. Goons are trying to remove the last real obsticle between them and a unified force against BOB. Which would be SmashKill. Sure, SMASHKILL and the GBC aren't friendly, but in the greater scheme they are on the same side in a way. So Goons hate them causing issues within the coalition and are trying to remove them.
This is where the balance comes into play. The GBC and the souther coalition are sort of at a stand off. This could be argued all day, but we'll leave it at that. The northern coalition (NC) could easily decide things in either favor. However, BOB and the GBC aren't too fond of the NC and will most likely not work with them. BOB are pretty much straight forward on this. However, if the NC worked with the SC, and eventually defeated the GBC. They would be leaving themselves wide open to the SC with nobody to help defend it. And RA/Goons have no real problem backstabbing alliances as long as it fits their needs.
So we have 3 major players.
The NC, trying to secure and survive. Strong, but just not strong enough against either of the 2 southern powers. Enjoy good fights but not going out of their way to get it. Several alliances grouping together to survive. It works.
The GBC, fairly strong with BOB as the back bone. Looking for good fights and has no problem being arrogant or going out of their way to get it. Such as original claims to conquer all of 0.0. BOB with smaller alliances clinging to them because they don't have the industrial might of BOB or because they love PvP.
The divided SC, with the goons with the declaration to destroy EVE. RA with the intent to farm it. And several other alliances trying to survive by grouping up with them.
Overall, it's a very big political field. Will be interesting to see what happens.

Won't happen.
You guys know how much 0.0 there is? No single entity can control it, and with inflation making cap ships cheaper and cheaper, there's more groups than ever willing to fight for a little piece of 0.0-pie.
BoB did the best in this regard (0.0 dominance), but even they were buffered by the T2 BPO windfall. RA and NNC have what? Dyspro and Prom moons? They're relying on an economic mechanic so clearly foobared that CCP will have no choice but to change it?
Anyways, last in a saber rattling thread. |

i don't think they're saying that one entity will control all of 0.0 but a coalition of alliances controlling a good majority of it. the SC i believe have enough # to control a good sizable chunk of space. and if smashkill does get pushed out of drone region then there is basically the NC in tenal, branch, deklein, and tribute. GBC in Delve, PB, and Querious. maybe foutain too if they do make a bid for it but i think that might be overextending themselves. and the rest of 0.0 will be owned by the SC.
i have nothing against anyone personally but that thought alone is kinda scary. if that does happen then 0.0 will be fairly boring since you have to either be apart of those 3 entities or go in with a big fleet. and i do think that this does have a fairly good chance of happening since RA wants cloud ring apparently and i think they want it so they can stop a bob push for space, if bob does push through foutain. that way bob would be trapped in their corner.
if i were bob, first, right now would be a good time to hit the SC flanks while they're being semi busy up in drone region. second, establish a buffer point in fountain and cloud ring by putting in another power bloc in those 2 constellations. preferably neutral alliances that way the SC won't have easy access into bob space since RA wants cloud ring.

NNC was a term coined by Insurgency, meaning 'New Northern Coalition' and referred to the coalition of smaller alliances (Rare Faction, Pheonix, Stella, Majesta, CPU, GSA) they fought when originally taking space in Branch.
For some reason that term is now being used for the NNC's big daddy, the NC.

Originally by: Play Dead In Fade yesterday, Red Alliance entered L-C3 with a 120 man fleet seemingly to reinforce some towers stating that they were here for our stations (ours being Project Alice, Malice and CLF).

NC and RA have been friendly ever since I can remember. I can't see them changing for a bunch of non-NC members but doubt they are going to come running to help them out either.
The smaller alliances that are holding space near RA's new territory need to hold their ground and defend their territory if they want it. They should really band together and help eachother out otherwise RA will pick them off one at a time.
When it comes to 0.0, politics is often more important than how much firepower you have. The core NC members built what they have today by establishing those relationships which have stood the test of time and conflict. It has worked well for them, I am surprised why more entities haven't banded together to hold their ground against larger entities.

if it does, then we should bend over to RA, nap them, surrender to them etc (common northen politics).
But on the other hand, we are Unatural, it seems even if we try to follow napfest trendy tactics we will fail. So if we gonna fail why dont we do it with fighting?
So bring it, them more ships I loose, the less hauling I'll do
On a sidenote, BoB will never get the fights they want upNorth, unless they decide to play with 1:4 ratio (1:3 was with goons), interesting times ahead, only time will tell.

Lmao at everyone looking up to "big" alliances of the north... All those huge and important big alliances have RA blue. Except for Pure. They remind me on kids that are scared of the dark...
Its ok to team up against people like Insurgency that try to move up north but when its someone like RA,.. oh ****!!! Better not **** them boys off!
