Hrm.
I don't know what anyone is mad about. I mean, c'mon, t2 is given out via lottery, and that has run flawlessly, right?

You mean so that a guy making the 10 day trial can get something he can ebay for a BIG ammount of RL money? Or what was your point?

My point was.....

Ah, I fully see your point now. It makes PERFECT SENCE. The Gallante Federation will make one single edition of an improved megathron, the flagship of their navy, and then hand it out to a random guy who isn't gallante, can't pilot the ship yet, and probably never will learn how to use a battleship in combat.

This sounds like something a typical Gallentean would do. Now if this was a Caldari ship being giving out, the Caldari State would have massive fleet battles to determine the winner. -------------------------------- CCP can patch away bugs, but they can't patch away stupidity. |

You said it. I think its an outrage if CCP is rewarding a corporation by these means. They are literally giving you the money. BIG representitive: you havent answered the question. The money? Not everyone have equal chances in aquiring this ship. More money = more tickets right?? More tickets = more profits for BIG right? How can you justify this? I'd love to see an explanation from CCP.

hmmmmmm, I was being sarcastic there, but I got myself thinking...... maybe there is a uber way to distribute such a prize that is in line with role-play.
And no its not a tournament. When was the last time you saw George Bush and Bill Clinton battle it out in tanks to decide the presidency of the United States? Or when was the last time that you saw Boeing and Lockheed Martin duke it out in a dog fight to determine who got the multibillion dollar joint-strike-fighter contract?
Maybe the solution should be the simipliest one. The ship should go to the corporation that has the highest standing with the Gallente Federation. It could be offered to them at a one-time discount price and it could be placed in the hanger of that corps CEO.
That would be the most role-play orientated solution.
EDIT: I'll congratulate whoever gets it all the same, no matter........ (didn't want to seem like a whiner like many have a tendacy to do)

Hmmm:
Possible RP method:
Jove give BIG an old prototype they got bored off to raffle, proceeds go to the 'find the splatted jove guy' fund.
I would be VERY surprised and VERY annoyed if BIG get to keep the money, cos we are probably talking billions here.
To be fair, in the end their are going to be like 10 different parties, comprising of the richest in Eve (the carebear alliance members basically) that buy 1000gazillion tickets each and have the only chance. This doesnt reward Skill, or experience, and it doesnt give 'the little guy' a chance. Its simply an opportunity to leach a massive amount of cash from the very richest corps.

Sorry, but I don't care about vets.
I hope that ccp does more things like this so that the players who havn't played since alpha have a chance at getting some of these extra's. New players have better things to do then worship false gods. Atleast I hope they do. -----------------------------------

hope its not true! No RP sense in this happening either as to why the Gallante would do this.

I agree. There has already been a prize given based on the most experienced, aka Amarr Tournament. This time players like me, who have only been online for 4 or 5 months, a chance.

Unless your Corp got it, obviously. In which case it would be another chance to brag.

the chance for this megathron to end up on ebay is the same, even if a vet gets it...
and i diagree that only vets should be able to get it, without newbs eve would not be here where it is today. maybe eve would be bankrupt?

In terms of crocks of s**t it's not quite up there with T2, but it's not far off. Just pray that they give the name away fast enough so that it can be destroyed before it reaches Ebay.
I just can't fathom CCP's logic when it comes to stuff like this. Decent stuff is rare enough in EVE without having anything really above par (ie. more than 5% different) turned into a unique item. F**k knows what'll happen when/if we get above Tech II. Lottery or trickled out 1 item per month?
Tech III Tier I Frigate Requirements
10k Megacyte 20k Isogen 300k Tritanium 1 x Jimmy Hoffa DNA 1 x Lord Lucan DNA 4 x Shergar Shoe 5 x Yeti Scalp 10 x Loch Ness Monster Scale 20 x R.A.M. Earhart Plane Tech
LORE NO DROP
(This item also available via lottery.)

Where I am my "Lovely" markets are hardly ever full. Don't act as if you preform a service and arn't "paid" for it. As was pointed out earlier, many things have been given to those who have the skill points, maybe it's time for joe blow to get something?
Personally I won't be entering the lottery because as cool as a unique Megathron would be, I don't need or want it. I just think that attaching a seniority system to a game is stupid. So far none have disproven this. -----------------------------------

Agreed. Noobs are essential. I've been playing since June, and have always tried hard to give noobs a helping hand. It wouldn't bother be a bit to see a prize given out to a less experienced player to help them in the game.

Patience - It's not called a Bougnisarin Megathron just for giggles.
You really should have included the below in your quote as well
Quote:
More info will be made available after mondays drawing of this (the 26th) round, but rest assured, thats one Megathron you'd like to get your hands on Watch out for a Special Edition of the BIG Games newsletter on monday.
I would also encourage everyone to pay attention to "Next round (the 27th)..." Which starts midnight between sunday 9th and monday 10th - aka. hasnt started yet.
Not a bad idea to head to the Events forum and read (#26B) BIG Games Newsletter, not to mention The BIG Lottery for further info on the lottery itself. BIG Lottery

This is interesting. CCP obviously decided to involve players in a major event, and ppl get mad because it seems like that corp will get a lot of money from it... I can understand the roleplay aspect aswell, weird to have such an ³bership on a lottery.
I don't envy the event team right now. It must be extremely difficult to get player corps involved in events like this and at the same time try to keep things fair. It's a step in the right direction though, and I hope that more similar things will take place.

well i dont really care about you noobs, all most of you do is whine about how experienced players have the advantage..like wtf, we have the advantage cause we earned it,.
It should be the same here too, totally agree with stav on this. The megathron should be given out based on skill not some random denominator. Id perfer bs championships, but frig championships are a bit fairer on the noobs, not like a care..but it just quits out hundereds of them *****ing on the forums for days on end

Mr.Khan, this isn't Counterstrike. No, read again: This isn't Counterstrike! I don't really care how "uber" you may or may not be. And I don't think that you're any kind of hero that should get exceptions based on being "uber." I'm sorry if that offends you... no wait, I'm not. -----------------------------------
