Originally by: Ishida This still has not, despite being marked as fixed twice, been fixed. all carriage returns in IGB evemail(to) links are still broken ... Traveler, help ?!
Just realised why this isn't fixed on TQ yet. The patch the other day was only to change how we connected to the new hardware, nothing more. The fixes should all come in when Blood hits.

When using PHP Header redirect, the browser keeps the same URL in the address bar, but it still redirects to the other page.
This is a problem, because PHP thinks that the webpage is in one place, when the browser thinks its somewhere else. This makes relational URLs mis-function.
I've been bugging that particular one for over 2 years... (Been quite a while since last time though - aka. I've given up that it will ever get fixed)
And yes it does indeed raise all kinds of hell for a web-developer...
And makes for sites needing more clicking from the users, as you cant rely on the redirect feature. One of the most basic things of making sits user-friendly... (aka. less clicking etc)
Can you sense I'm utterly frustrated with the lack of will to fix this one?
I've been using the PHP include function as a means to work around this. Is that an option in your situation? Hope it helps...

something that would be nice but probably never happen for obvious reasons would be SVG support... starting to hit the webbrowsers now (firefox 1.5+, opera, and adobe have an IE plugin), but that would be quite handy in eve i'd reckon.

the in game browser is completly write by hand, not related to you'r browser (IE,Mozilla ...) so they will not add stuff like that as traveler stated earlier

The special variables $EVE_CHAR_NAME, etc... Are now returning blanks since the bloodlines update.
Any ideas?

I just tested this on TQ and i can not confirm. Please try http://bughunters.addix.net/igbtest/ingametest.php for testing.
In case you installed a newer PHP version, the access to header vars has changed. Use $_SERVER["HTTP_EVE_CHARNAME"] .

Edited by: Rask on 08/03/2006 22:07:26 Traveler Any chance of getting the IGB to accept autoforwards for URLS
Check out EVE-Guide.net it is suspost to auto forward and works fine in all other browsers, but the IGB doesn't...
I have chatted with my ISP and they say it is a browser problem.
Also is there any word on if there will be a Micro payment system so that web pages can charge for access (IE a header like the trust request), so that we can ask for 1000isk for acess, and charge fees for providing services to the game comunity?
This header would pop up a dialog ingame and ask if you would like to pay the fee, a character name is provided in the header, and if they hit yes then the isk is transfrered, and the url (passed as part of the header) is displayed, i would also think a couple of vars to say what was paid, and to who would allow for the server to decide if they get the content page or redirected to a 'sorry...' page.

The answer previously has been no, due to the abuse it can garner. It is a good idea, though. Would benefit a lot of people, more than just the pay-per-view sites. Click here to confirm your order, for example.

Works fine for me, check your PHP settings as Traveller suggested.

Don't understand the question. Why would a third-pary host be liable in any way for the transfer of virtual currency?

the language does not matter, the only thing that matters is that your HTML is compliant to the IGB standards; which is a basic version of HTML3.2 mixed with some HTML4 elements and then some special IGB elements.
the language to use can be anything, some examples: PHP, ASP(.net), CGI (which can be any language, basically), etc etc etc. as long as you find a webserver that can interpret your pages you can do it ! ;-)
edit: oh and Thx Traveler for fixing the \n issue !!!!! --

Greetings.
I am an amature html coder, and have had some success creating webpages for the IGB. I have run into an issue when trying to use <A HREF=öevemail:charnameö> ... </A>
It works perfectly for single word names, however, when I try this with a two word name such as <A HREF=öevemail:firstName lastNameö> ... </A> where the first name and last name are separated with a 'space' I run into the problem where the html editor wants to change the 'space' into %20 <A HREF=öevemail:firstName%20lastNameö> ... </A>
This then displays the %20 inside the evemail instead of the desired space.
Can anyone please direct me to correct way to write this to have the 'space' show up in the evemail?
Thank you for you help.

Hi, wondering if anyone has been able to use the res:/ image paths, found in the eveGraphics table, in the igb?
example: res:/Model/WorldObject/Asteroid/asteroid.blue

i'm sure this has been suggested, but without a search option in the forums i can't find the thread where it has :/ sorry.
Anyway, the suggestion is: can we have some form widget added to the IGB that allows players to drag modules into it? (much how we drag modules into the chat windows and can make it autolink to the showtype:<ID>) The widget then sends a comma or other delimited list of all the id's of the modules dragged into it along with the rest of that POST message.
This would facilitate all sorts of neat and crazy things.

I notice from the bughunters list of supported tags that client side image maps should be possible (usemap, map and area tags), but I can't get them to work with the IGB.
Does anyone know if they are actually supported, or am I wasting my time?

Client side image maps are indeed supported. However, you can only define rectangular shapes atm.

Would it be possible to get a way to link similar to "view market details"?
I have made a simple searchable tool at http://eve.onfiar.com?page=lookup (open for everyone to use) but it'd be made a lot better with a "market" link for things.
Possibly something along the lines of <a href='market:typeID'>

Edited by: Navapia Wingblade on 01/04/2006 10:32:58 I would have to agree with Mr Callista above. Indeed, being able to just make the generic item contextual menu popup would be great (i.e. with more than just 'show info')
Off the top of my head: view market details, add to market quickbar, show info (already present)....]
Edit: In addition - it would be great to have a 'character link' complete with character name rather than having to wrap around a showinfo link around a guess / pre-stored character name.
e.g. code at the moment:
<a href="showinfo:1373//<?=$chrID?>"><?=$chrNameTakenFromMyDatabase?></a>
would like to get:
<a href="charinfo:<?=$chrID?>">
to produce the same result. ---------- I think I just had an evilgasm.... Are you a bufty or a beauty? Visit http://www.matryx.org.uk/eve/ using the in-game-browser to find out! |

This has worked in the past since my default page used to auto forward you to the correct page depening on whether you used the eve IGB or an external browser.
A fix for this would be appreciated.

Hey there...
Im looking for a way to take the portraid the ingame browser creates (portrait:charID) and save it on my server, so the images can be displayed in an ordiary browser (firefox, IE).
I've been trying to use <input type="file" and "image" as I would in a normal browser but I dont think the browser supports it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. ------------------- DISCLAIMER: All opinions in this post are the opinions af a week old, half eaten sandwitch and do in no way reflect the opinions of anybody within a 10km radius of the Eiffel towe |

Edited by: Navapia Wingblade on 05/04/2006 21:43:37 Here you go : http://img.eve.is/serv.asp?s=512&c=<CHARID>
You can change where it says s=512 to other sizes (256, 128, 64, etc) if you wanted smaller ones. ---------- I think I just had an evilgasm.... Are you a bufty or a beauty? Visit http://www.matryx.org.uk/eve/ using the in-game-browser to find out! |
