EVE Online: Empyrean Age has been successfully deployed on Tranquility and we’re now open for business! We invite you to explore the new region "Black Rise" or try the new feature Factional Warfare, to fight for glory and fame in the service of your faction. For a more comprehensive list of what has been added and fixed, please check the patch notes. We’d also appreciate to hear your feedback which can be posted in this thread. Please note that this is for general feedback, not issues or bugs.
If you discover any issues or bugs with Empyrean Age, please post them in the Empyrean Age issues thread.

I also have to add that the news stories on the 'update' page were excellent. I don't RP in EVE, but these stories were an inspired way to provide entertainment (and could also have been used to provide progress updates, if needed). I hope we see something similar in future patches!
Well done... just need to play now :)

I am still dling the patch, but I want to say amazing job with all the news reports during the patch process. I love the large amount of news and stories that have been written and published for FW. I am a bit upset that I am in an alliance and will not be able to participate in FW, however I can still enjoy the process, the tension, and the excitement of FW through the news articles. Please continue to provide this same quantity (and quality) of news stories even after FW has been deployed.
Also, WTB Faction Warfare on DVD... Honestly just the opening fights that were on the downtime news page rendered and made into a movie would be amazing. ------

Originally by: Krell Vashari So if you updated the Navy Apoc to have the decent bonus and cap, why did you leave the Paladin with the old cap and bonus?
Coz it would be rediculously overpowered ? If you fit it correctly it is already a very good ship.
On the other hand, to have finally made the apoc worth flying as a combat ship again, but overlooking the navy variant definitely needed fixing.
Mind you, as a firm fan of the Paladin, if they did decide to buff it, I wouldn't complain
Oh and to CCP (back on topic) I would also like to say good job on the time-filling news stories. Patch days in the last 5 years have been crying out for something like this. Frankly (IMO) pictures of drunken internet spaceship fans on holiday in Iceland isn't nearly as good as this latest idea ... Keep it up.
Now, off to see if the patch breaks my good mood

Two things tho? - ancient mystical elders from fairyland? you gotta be kidding me, I hope that's just someone's propaganda IC... - where's IC info on the FW corps? who are they, who's backing them (for Matari: elders? Republic? Defiants? wtf?) and whatnot? should those speeches not be up too before the play goes on?
I realize the DT ended less than 24 hours after it started, so maybe these are still coming...

Edited by: Saiutt on 10/06/2008 21:02:16 First, thanks to everyone at CCP for finishing well within the 24 hour period! Now what I hope is some constructive criticism; In my opinion, the layout of systems and jumps in Black Rise and the end of Placid just doesn't look natural. Some systems are too remote and some are too dense. I think the systems of and around Vlillirier, Immuri, and Hikkoken should be a bit lower.. towards Rakapas. And the systems in the constellation of Aokinen need to be spread out a little bit and a few jumps need re-thinking.. especially Rohamaa. Anyone else agree? disagree? voice your thoughts!

I dunno, maybe the thinking was that if you're in a PVP alliance you have as much PVP as you want already, if you're in a non-PVP alliance and you want to PVP then you're in the wrong alliance, and if you want to FW more than regular PVP then maybe you have a tough choice It was always going to be a difficult call for CCP but I for one am glad alliances weren't allowed to register as a whole (as a player within a smaller entity ) - large alliances already have 0.0 without snatching up FW locations as well
Anyway, grats on all the news updates CCP, enjoyed them a lot, more of this please

Hello everyone,
Two minor changes have been made to the Patch Notes as follows:
Features
World Shaping
Lonetrek, New Jump - Haajinen to Elanoda. Removed as this jump does not exist.
Changes
NPC's
NPC's no longer drop ship logs. This has also been removed as this change did not make it into the Empyrean Age expansion.

I just ran 2 level 4 missions in Amarr space. Everything worked perfect! Thanks for fixing the windows being all over the place. I have been moving them so much that I automaticaly went to move the overview only to find it was where it was supposed to be. I have even noticed a boost in frame rate. You guys really did a great job on this deployment. Rock on CCP. |

okay, REALLY minor issue here, not going to post it to the issues forum, just feeding back....
When you refine a bunch of stuff (love the new refine window layout btw) the window hangs around. If you then select more stuff from your hangar and hit refine, the refine window just sits there empty...

My take on this is that now even the fat kids will get picked to play kick ball (no more "you're too noob to be in mah ubar corp")
I am not sure how this new war business is going to effect my otherwise peaceful jaunts around carebear space, so I guess I'll be seen in a shuttle til the smoke clears. :)
I'm a huge fan of CCP and EVE, all the way. I love how this company handles it's MMO, the storylines are brilliant, and the game atmosphere is both haunting and soothing. Best feature of CCP is their lack of need to continually *****their player base for $50 every 6 mos for the same old content - tuned 5 levels higher (ahemcoughsoecough).
Great job nonetheless. I can't wait to see the evolution continue.

good job CCP !!! I kept reading the news and they were awesome!!. now I would like to ask you if there any plans to roll out teaser videos from those news. like when heth raises the caldari flag in caldari prime. or when the missing ammarrian suddenly appears on the battlefield.. something like a sumary of the events. the empyrean teaser trailers left me hungry ... |

Woaw nice finaly some seriosly pew pew in empire, I might consider comming back to empire, but only might
another thing there could be cool, would be gang bonuses if a fleet consists with ONLY ships from same faction. Eks: A Fleet with only amarr ships would get a bonus for eksample cap or something there would make it worth making fleets like this. |

Agreed, please do something about Helios new hull. It doesn't seem appropriate to release a beautiful new Amarr Cov Ops and then tar and feather the Helios, comon?!
I am also curious to see how pirate corps (who are not affiliated with a faction) will influence the FW (don't have too much fun BEES ).
Btw, I take it all the mines that were deployed by NPCs during DT are gone?

OK here is how it works.
Player A and Player B are at war. Player A and Player C are in a Gang.
Player B warps into the belt containing Players A and C. Player A is a Valid target, but Player C is neutral to Player B. Player B Shoots Player A. Player C remote supports Player A. Player C, by supporting Player A is now a Valid target to Player B.
So Player C is only a Valid target if he does something to INVOLVE himself in the war.

Just looked at the rig changes and with the exception of the Warp Core Optimizer I/II rigs, it's just pure fail... The diferences betwin Ionic Field Projector I and the t2 variant are just too small to make the t2 one a viable choice... and the Energy/Hybrid Disharge Elutration I/II are unchanged as far as i see it.. and completly useless at this moment... i was really hoping for a 30% t1 / 40% t2 reduction in cap use... Anyway.. everything else looks aait so cheers ccp.. |

OK. So the difference of new system is the player C cant be the first target for player B ? OK. If so - it's not bad. Excuse my reflection. And we all hope in new patch that remote repper C will start FLASHING red immidiately he starts rep A for ALL who shooting A. And if there are D and E in gang with player B - C must flash for D and E even if they didnt shoot A. Is last sentence correct in this patch ?

That is how it should work.
There may be a second or 2 for the overview to update, but yes Player C should, after supporting Player A become a valid war target to Players B, D and E.

Why in god's name would CCP RAISE a skill requirement for a ship mid stream!? After Empyrean AGE the navy vexor a corp mate of mine loaned me is now too advanced for me to operate. How did I get it here? Who knows? It will take no fewer than 6 days!? to train to fly it... What am I supposed to be between now and then? Now I am stuck in a station several jumps from any other usable craft. This is the kind of capricious, poorly concieved nonsense that makes people stop looging in, playing games, and spending monthyl fees. What's more, how much of my other stuff now no longer works!? How many other things that I have been training for, or have trained for will either no longer work or will take longer!? I cant know since you people didnt see fit to let anybody know what was going on. How about a message in eve-mail!? How about a msg to my actual RL email? How about SOME notice somewhere... somehow that the central piece of equipment I am using is now beyond my abilities. It isn't even in the change log. there are alot of players in the game who have focussed on non-combat skills, and are instead mining, researching and building and making this player centered economy you've created work. Many of those character were well served by the extra power and protection of navy issed craft, and were glad to pay extra for them to make up for not having the skill to pilot t2 alternatives. They are all screwed... and what's worse they just found out today... nice one.

A couple of the windows like to move where ever they damn well feel like now ( Repeatedly... ). Even after I move them someplace else ( Items Window while docked in a station for one ).
Also: noticed there's been a tad bit of inflation in the price of skillbooks now. A book that sold for 4.5mil yesterday is now close to 5mil...

I know this has been said, but just want to add my voice. You should be able to join a militia even as a member of a corp. I know there have been fears about the big alliances joining up and skewing it one way or the other, but this has entirely strangled people out.
At least a trial period would be fantastic. I was really looking forward to FW, only to be frozen out. Disappointing since this is basically the crux of the expansion. "Life's Lessons Are Best Learned At Full Draw" |

Patch Installer Problems;
When you are set to use Eve Classic on a Premium installation NEITHER Patch Installer will work. The Premium patch downloads first and halts with an invalid stuff.res error then suggests you download the patch again. This time it downloads the Classic patch which then fails with an error message that makes it clear it won't install a classic patch on a Premium installation.

Take a breath for gods sake.
Obviously there was a balance issue with the new faction ships being released, and adjustments had to be made. Frankly, 6 days training is nothing in EVE so don't get your panties in such a bunch over it. Hop in a shuttle (or use a noob ship) and fly the "several jumps" to get in a different ship for a few days. Its really, really not that hard.
Look in the bright side, now there are more faction ship options to choose from and honestly, in six days it isn't really going to matter.

This talk of being forced to leave your current corp in order to participate in FW is unrealistic.
I know it's an unpopular example, but I don't think Blackwater, DynCorp or Triple Canopy -- just as the US DoD -- wouldn't let you keep your day job and work for them at the same time. The various state National Guard units would, but not when you are deployed as an active duty member.
If you want to support your faction, quit crying and join up. Otherwise, park it on the sidelines and get a hanky.

If you want to support your faction, quit crying and join up. Otherwise, park it on the sidelines and get a hanky.
Yeah and this isn't RL. So you think it's cool, that CCP puts in a 'cool new feature', but to use that feature, you have to leave your corp, which for alot of people, you may have been in awhile. It's where all your friends are? Or people are forced to leave those friends because their corp joins, but they may not be into PvP? Please. Not to mention CCP didn't even /MENTION/ how it would work, which makes many feel decieved to begin with.
You shouldn't spend all that time building up a new feature and get everyone excited, and leave out the restrictions put there that would possibly limit some from joining. Simply lame all around. I'm quite disappointed and I hadn't even planned on doing it to begin with. |

Just tossing in my 2 isk that not allowing people who are in an otherwise non-factional corp to join is just terrible. Frankly, it absolutely flies in the face of getting non-PvPers into PvP.
Many non-PvPers are in mining/industrial corps and don't want to leave cause their friends are there. The corps generally have people from all sorts of backgrounds. The corp therefore is unlikely to want to join up with single faction as a whole, and certainly not everybody will want to get shot at. It would be 100x more interesting if my character could join in the faction warfare while still being able to also work in the corp with friends.
I am rather hoping that this is a temporary limitation made in order to keep out bigger PvP alliances, and will be changed down the road.

Great Job CCP, the new patch is great and seems bug free! astonished how easy it was! (obviously a lot of background work by all the developers) its a credit to all your developers.
The only one thing that is a bit disappointing is the hi-sec FW agents in verge vendor. If I accept a mission, the dead space location is 26 jumps away! I thought hi-sec mission locations would stay local.
Really enjoyed some FW pvp last night and will be fitting more ships to join in again tonight! |

So Player C is only a Valid target if he does something to INVOLVE himself in the war.
How would this work if say player C activates a gang link mod, giving quite a boost to player A?
also I believe I remember reading that attacking someone involved in factional warfare would result in standing drops to that militia's faction 1) is that correct? 2) what if that player shoots me first? 3) what if I agress due to a normal war, or they are less than -5 sec, or they stole from me?

one bad thing tho, needing a 0.5 to join faction sux. i'm not big on the whole mission thing. I'm a miner that is making his way to t2 ships and wants to join the war and then this curve ball pops out of blue, now i have like 68 missions to do including 4 storylines.
can anything be done to lower the required state standing of 0.5 to say like 0.3 or am i just screwed on this?? |

well from my side, it could be still trinity, me dont need any stuff like faction warfare when player has no control about his faction standing gain, i miss the player based control mechanism and the possibility just to run missions to earn isk and with deactivated faction standing gain, we as players and paying customers should have the opportunity to choice if we want to raise faction standings or not, oh i forget, its not graphics so we maybe never will see that ? then i will just ignore the faction warfare thing because it based on the same game mechanics as before what means trouble for those who dont want roleplay and keep all the possibilities for themselves open.
eve is to complex that you nail your own ass ingame so early, we want to explore not only the space also eve itself ! and you ccp should not shut the door about it !!

I was pleased with the fact that the patch went through quickly and efficiently (especially as I wasn't quick enough to set a new skill training before downtime)
But I think whoever decided to change the Helios hull to that of an Imicus should be fired.
I understand that it fits in with the Imicus being a T1 astrometrics frigate and the Helios is an improved version, but it's just so ugly, I doubt I could even sell mine now, even with the rigs.

ôI mean even taking into account the backstory conflict about the Elders, Minmatar/Amarr story was very good.ö Good? it was massively flawed making no sense. LetÆs bring back dead people from both the Minmatar and Amarr without any reason. People who couldnÆt have been cloned and had been dead for over 150 years.
Perhaps the Novel explains how in which case I take back my comments. But right now it seems like whoever is writing the story is ignoring the background story and just bringing dead people back without explaining why they are not dead.
The way the Caldari just walked into the Gallente capital system was unbelievable. Then there was the Amarrians in total disarray, then suddenly another dead person comes back and all is ok. Without reason he can suddenly control and manage the Ammar fleet thatÆs was in disarray. Then with 12 battleships he took on and blows up an entire Minmatar fleet of 100+ cap ships?

However, I ran into a snag
Apparently social skill bonuses (i.e: connections) don't count towards faction standing when you go to join Faction warfare.
It's not a bug. I bug reported it and was told it's not a bug.
So whats the point of social skills again? If the devs can pick and choose what aspects of game play it effects and which it doesn't why bother having them at all? The idea of connections allowing you to join FW sooner even makes RP sense so why not allow the figured stats count?
It does n't make a whole lot of sense to me.
*editted for terrible spelling*
Other than that good work from what Ive seen so far.

One question: How will be a Corp (joined militia) affected by the war dec system?
Scenario: Pirate Corp A will war dec Corp B, that has joined Militia. In my understanding Corp B is now member of the faction itself. Does a war dec now means, that Pirate Corp A has war deced the whole faction? And if not, why not?

Originally by: Estel Arador My overview settings were reset, I thought that no longer happened with patches?
My overview presets weren't deleted (if that's what you're referring to? I'm not certain tbh). However, with Trinity, a problem started happening where I would set one overview preset active while in space, say my 0.0 Ratting preset. Then hostiles would come in, I'd x-up (I rat in a pvp setup) for defense, switch the overview to my Fleet Ops - 0.0 Combat preset, pewpew, win/lose/draw, whatever... so I go back to my 0.0 Ratting preset and continue with what I was doing. Now, later, say I run out of ammo so I dock. When I undock, the overview now says Default (Not Saved) and is basically the Fleet Ops - 0.0 Combat preset (despite having been set to something else before I docked). It's not a big problem, but it's bloody annoying.
Also, the positioning of my drone bay window, which is pinned just like the Selected Object and Overview windows, is not saved. I have it set on the bottom right, beneath by overview. I dock and undock, now it's shifted far to the left of where I left it, covering some of my modules on the UI but it's STILL pinned, so in order to correct this I have to unpin it, drag it back to where it's supposed to be, and re-pin it. Again, it's not a big problem but it's bloody annoying.
Before Empyrean Age went live, if I would join a fleet, the Broadcast window would pop up where my overview was, snapping my overview and selected object and drone bay windows all over the place, some even going partially or totally off-screen! - if I dared join a fleet while in a place that wasn't safe, I would probably die simply due to having to unpin and move every window on my screen back where it was before I could even begin to think about fighting back. This was a big problem imo. Now, though, it's not quite as bad - my overview and selected object windows don't get flung off screen anymore. I don't understand what went wrong that caused joining fleets to affect the placement of pre-existing windows at all - it wasn't like this in Revelations.
It's not omgendoftheworld bad. And in general I either like or don't mind the problems with the UI... but having most of your UI (the windows) get screwed up every time you dock/undock or join a fleet is a serious drag. |

Many of those character were well served by the extra power and protection of navy issed craft, and were glad to pay extra for them to make up for not having the skill to pilot t2 alternatives. They are all screwed... and what's worse they just found out today... nice one.
Yeah, that's it, take a shuttle; they're cheap and easily available -

Edited by: Tracy Jacks on 11/06/2008 15:52:35 Great RP story line except for one thing. while some people are moaning about the Caldari waltzing into Gallente space so easily, my gripe is with the timing of the militia thing. why, after CONCORD have 'restored' reactionary responses to aggression, would they approve the Militia Bill? If this had been a response to the loss of their HQ as an assumption that they would not be able to regain control it would have made sense, but it was added so late on that it doesn't work as a plot twist surely? Everyone had retreated (except for the force over Caldari Prime) and everything had pretty much finished when CONCORD say, 'yeah, sorry we lost control, Jita got smashed, Gallente got invaded and the Amarr/Minmitar thing kicked off but we aren't going to do anything about it, oh and start some militias so you can do it again on the sly...'

I do admit my error in them not mentioning Corps having to read alliance, but I did go back and read the Dev blog, and they dont simply just come out and say 'You have to leave your player corp to particpate in FW'. You could read it 'between the lines', but I shouldn't have had to read between the lines.
As to the alt thing, not everyone has alts (me being one and others I know). Either because they can't be afforded or their just not an alt person. I hear the 'use the alt' line alot with this. Sorry, i'll have an alt when CCP allows me to train skills for 2 characters on the same account (which there is absolutely no justification for not allowing), instead of just trying to milk more money out of me. So that line doesn't float for me.
It still stands that they put in a huge feature with even greater restrictions. For me and others I know, this 'reward' just isn't worth the 'risk' of breaking longtime friendships or even short ones.

Okay you left out a very important change in your notes. Or hid it so well I can't find it.
I'm referring to the change in the way skill Books are priced.
Seriously do you guys hate new customers so much your looking for a new way to get them out of the game? Because I can see them being the most effected by this. If I had just started and saw that the price on books kept going up as I tried to scrimp and save for them I'm pretty certain I would have quite before I paid any money to CCP.
This change deserves an F for effect and also failure to include this clearly in the patch notes. It should be immediately reviewed and changed back before it does more damage to EVE's reputation. We have enough of that already. |

I'm very happy with the "Align To" button.
Before the patch: everyone in fleet spent 20 seconds franticly swooping their camera views about trying to see the next gate en route, starting to warp, stopping after alignment, then starting up the engines again to fly toward the next gate in formation, hoping to get up enough speed before the fleet commander tries to warp the fleet in unison, then everybody waiting (hopefully) for the stragglers who didn't quite align fast enough.
After the patch: everybody jumps through a gate, taps the Align To button, and they're all flying in the same direction toward the next gate. (Well, most of them are flying in the right direction. There's always somebody.)

Originally by: Zulu Six When I undock, the overview now says Default (Not Saved) and is basically the Fleet Ops - 0.0 Combat preset (despite having been set to something else before I docked).
This is just a visual bug, the filters applied are the ones you last used, but the name set is the default name. Has been fixed in an internal build.
Quote: Also, the positioning of my drone bay window, which is pinned just like the Selected Object and Overview windows, is not saved. I have it set on the bottom right, beneath by overview. I dock and undock, now it's shifted far to the left of where I left it, covering some of my modules on the UI
We made a lot of fixes to the overview and to window behaviour in general in this expansion. There was one case that we could not fix this time, and that is the edge case you describe. The way that vertical window stacks work is that we store the individual window sizes and the order of the windows and the location of the top left corner of the stack. The stack is then recreated by aligning the windows on their left corner. You probably have the drone window slightly narrower than the overview, aligned at the right corner and the drone window then moves from the right corner to the left corner. The work-around is to align the drone window (at the 16mm snap-to) to the bottom right corner of the window but make sure that there is some space between the drone window and the overview. If they don't touch then the drone window is not a part of the selected item / overview window stack and will stay put.
Quote: having most of your UI (the windows) get screwed up every time you dock/undock or join a fleet is a serious drag.
But that's not a problem anymore, right? We fixed it all, right?

I can confirm that you (on my system) fixed it. I had the problem that my overview and selected item-window was reset on every undock. Then I cleaned my cache, relogged today and the problem was solved!

first of all, FW somehow sounds like a cool expansion to an already great game....but for me as a player older than a year, i ask why should i join in FW if i have to leave my current corp and have to fear that i could be attacked everywhere as soon as i am in my militia. i wont risk crystal implants or something like that in FW. looks like FW is perfectly suited for alts and new players.

Align To: awesome, i always wondered why there was no such feature
Sun animation: yeah it looks nice again, but when you have your overview set up to not show anything but hostile ships you'll have a hard time warping away from a sun.

CCP has stated to many times in to many empyr dev blogs that this is the roollout of fw ...and they will be tweaking it. I would have never gone into low sec or o.o for any reason b4 fw..and now i am meatsheild maniac...plz read the dev bloga and hear the ccp interviews ..then complain.. U naysayers about fw have not done your homework... FW was not designed to exclude o.o alliances.. it was designed to get carebears out and into the most exciting and thrilling aspect of eve...P v P..

For me nearly nothing changes with Empyrian Age. I wish the interface would have been improved instead of introducing some factional warfare. I suppose having alliances to fight each other wasn't enough. I would have been happier if some UI improvements would have happened. The interface really needs a major overhaul with every UI element being movable, more keyboard shortcuts, a windowmanager...

just want clarification from ccp what, if anything, are they going to do about this? right now it seems they only made this for new players and carebears with little thought for people already living in 0.0 with loyalty to a corp and alliance.
Just as a side note,'carebears' also have corps and alliances they've become friends/loyal to :/ |

First Impressions from a noob
Being relatively new to eve, I was pleased to see this expansion coming as trying to pvp against veteran players tends to leave me broke. As ceo of our small corp, I signed up my friends and I as soon as I was able. So I take my Brutix out to Villore and on the way see a fleet forming up a couple jumps away and decide to give it a shot. At first it was pretty tame meeting only 1 or 2 caldari at a time and we take a instalation. Then we move deeper in caldari space and get stomped. It wouldnt have been so bad if it werent for the lag. I expected to get blown up but to be able to at least see some of it would of been cool. Ok, I ask around a bit only to find out after the fact that i should of taken off the effects to not lag out so much. Fine, done. Try again. Ok, well since I can't afford to lose another Brutix, I go in an incursus and stop at villore for a militia mission. Grab a lvl 1 mission and this nut case sends me 14 jumps away (11 in low sec) to go kill a commander. So I zip through low sec to get to the mission area and find 4 cruisers with 5-6 frigs. Hmm. Well the devs said the missions would be on par with the ones out there already, even easier, so I head in. Well by the time I got close enough to target them I had to warp out and made it with only 3/4 of my hull left. A lvl 1 mission!!! Fudge that, I head back to Villore to tell that agent where he can shove his mission when I come across another fleet forming up. So we romped around Black Rise all evening and even if my contribution was minimal, I had a hoot of a good time and will strongly encourage my friends to come along next time. Things I liked: -Being able to go pew pew things in low sec -The capturing of instalations, pretty cool IMO -The potential to learn a lot of new tactics without dying for every single lesson learnt -Quick implementation, great job there, cheers Things I didnt like so much: -Missions, even though I only took one, it was much more than I expected. I can do pretty much any lvl 1 mission in an incursus and that one was near impossible alone IMO. 30 jumps just to go and come back for a diferent ship is a big time sink and the reward was like...meh. So in conclusion I rate FW a 8/10, great stuff overall, mission might need a bit of balancing.

hmm. feedback...
i fly two 6m sp combat orientated pilots in min space. mostly mish running. it's easy isk, and i dont have a lot of time to play.
day 1
i log in after patch and find our ceo has signed us up for FW. all good, he gave us warning.
my base of ops is 16 jumps from the front, but the boss is screaming so i jump into a couple of AFs and bolt for the front line just in time so see a min blob get shredded.
the USA starts going to bed and there's a half hour of stuffing about while new FCs are found and a new fleet starts to gather. find one with a pommie accent who seems like he knows what he's up to. we then go for a bit of a romp, and revenge is sweet. a couple new additions to my kill board.
day 2
i spend 2 hours shifting my base of ops closer to the front line. this time i take my normal combat duo, a passive drake and a mael with a couple of permaboost shield transporters that doubles the drakes passive. we romp. another couple of additions to my kill board.
ok, observations/feedback.
price of ammo is going up in rens. significantly.
i havent made one single isk in 2 days and i dont really care. i might have to sell some of the hardware i've been stashing...
the ship restrictions on the plex gates means most ships in a fleet are cruiser and smaller. this is fine by me, it'll give me something to do with the caracal and stabber bpo. it also means the drakemael was overkill. fine by me... less isk to risk. better for the noobs too.
organisation is low. it's an npc corp so there is no real authority in the militia. we spend more time trying to find a good FC than we did romping.
people are still learning FW mechanics. it's kind of fun to try and figure stuff out instead of just googling it.
for the first time in god knows how long the local gate from highsec into lowsec isnt gate camped. the campers have joined the militia or the traffic is just too high. and the one time a pirate did lock me down, a quick yelp on militia and he was gone, gone gone...
and... i'm loving it. thanks guys

One new addition and several amendments have been made to the Patch notes as follows:
FEATURES
User Interface
In addition to being able to configure the buttons of the Neocom, a function to configure the World Information in the in-flight view has been added. To do this, right-click on the Neocom panel, select Configure >> World Information. You will be able to hide or show the following information, where it is available: Nearest Occupancy Sovereignty Sovereignty Level Constellation Region Security Level
EVE Voice, Mail & Chat
A new channel is created for each Faction Militia which acts like an Alliance channel and includes everyone in the Militia whether youÆre a direct member of the Militia or member of a player corporation in the Militia. In addition to this there is another channel created for those who are direct members of the Militia which function as a ôCorporationö channel, this channel is not available for those in a player corporation that has joined the Militia. Non-flagged players cannot gain access to these channels.

What would be even simpler (far too simple for CCP to figure it out) would be to have a mark on any module, drone, ship, etc. that's damaged, like a red triangle in the upper right-hand corner which is currently unused. Actually, your suggestion would still be good even if the damage marking was implemented, so that large blocks of modules, etc. would be highlighted and repackaged all at once even if there were a couple of damaged ones in the middle. ____________________________________

Our corporation currently is having FW issues and I'm wondering if it's by design.
Essentially, what's happened is that 2 non-Gallente RP alliances have declared war on us since we're a more noticeable corp within the Gallente militia.
The problem is that this gives those alliances free reign to kill our newer pilots in lowsec and we simply cannot fight back due to their numbers. They are only hostile to us and not the whole militia so even our FW allies cannot help us without hurting their security standings. This is almost an exploit.

I share this concern. It feels like the mechanics of factional warfare hasn't been entirely thought through.

Edited by: ZMasterz on 21/06/2008 20:29:58 I think Overview needs a small (well, i hope ... i¦m not coding it :)) but urgent Fix:
Originally by: ZMasterz
i just got popped by Sentries because there was one neutral Reaper among 30 Wartargets on a Gate. When they all started to warp out we were told to "get points on everything you can" ... so i locked what i could get and was dead a few seconds later (my fault ? Definitely was, but read on ...)
I do know how to set up my Overview, i¦ve been to 0.0 for a long time, i¦ve had LowSec wars and i¦ve pirated for a few months and been to -10 and back. I have several Tabs with different Settings, and i can not get it to work that the Overview filters out Neutrals while still showing WarTargets .. as in: Militia Targets.
This really needs a fix imo, add a new Filtering option or do some other wizardry please, but as it is i see more and more people saying that Militia FleetFights (and be it even only smaller Fights) are near impossible in Lowsec. You need 1 Neutral Alt that follows a Fleet til it gets a Fight, and then you sit there and wait til someone locks you and loses his/her nice ship to Sentries.
Granted, it was of course my fault as i didn¦t have a closer look before i attacked that neutral Reaper, but: I have set my Overview to show Wartargets as Blinking White with a Blinking White Star .. that is pretty unique and can be distinguished from neutrals very easily. But apparently not if there is 1 Neutral among 30 Blinking Targets .. it¦s easy to miss that Neutral. Test it ... add some Fleet-flatter and some random shouting and a few people that lock you, and you, too, will miss that 1 Neutral.
I plea for a Fix for this, i really enjoy FW in Lowsec and all around it, but without the Overview getting a new Filter/different Settings i think there will be an increasing number of people who just let FW be FW and go back to their "normal" EVE life without the fun with FW in LowSec.
This is my post from this http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=801015 Thread ... one of the most important and hopefully easiest-to-implement Fixes that are needed for Factional Warfare (imo ... of course). If you consider this an "illegal crosspost" then i apologize in advance, i just had to get it in a more popular Thread, too. edit: Fixed spelling and URL

Why were the mineral requirements for covert ops ships changed? It appears those that now use a cheaper T1 frigate as the base had their T2 mineral requirements increased to compensate, but now certain minerals required are quite high compared to other frigate-sized T2 ship materials.
This should have been in the patch notes at the very least, so people could have discussed it during testing. It also brings up the larger question of why some T2 ships require extra amounts of common minerals besides the morphite requirement, and others do not.

EA was a lot of fun in the first week, as part of the Minmatar faction I really enjoyed killing off Amarr, the RP part came nicely into play. We even had a few run-ins with local pirates, as time went by the Amarr stopped fighting, the pirates joined the militia (and continues their pirating of neutral players). So now we're back to the lonely 0.0 method of roaming for hours trying to find war targets, camping gates for hours trying to catch nano frigates. Utterly pointless and boring, and this after 1 week!
The only thing left for Minmatar to do is go fight the Caldari (nano ships anyone?), and hope we don't get decimated by the Gallente first. Unless the Amarr gets a massive injection of players (which doesn't seem to be happening) joining the Minmatar faction is a waste of time, there's virtually no PVP to be had as part of that Faction. Join the Gallente if you want PVP fun, Caldari blobs and will eventually rule everything if the Gallente doesn't get stronger. That will then be the end of Factional Warfare.
I really don't know what CCP can do to fix this but any ideas will be welcome, we really need something on the Amarr\Minmatar side of FW to make this more fun.

I loved faction warfare, the premise is great, the missions are perhaps too easy but fun nonetheless. Pvp is pretty much instant unless your in a blob fleet, in which case forget it, lag and scaring off the enemy tends to reduce it to gate camping most of the time. All and all joyous.
The intuitive people out there just know there is a but coming.
BUT ... Unlike in a player alliance there is no command structure, without which there is no cohesion. Instead you get 500+ people *****ing in militia chat and an npc corp which cannot discriminate between alt. spies and genuine militia men.
Furthermore you need not just a place for militia chat, but channels for Intel (where is the enemy), Strategic (where are the complexes) and Tactical (I have just spawned a mission - who wants to come).
These comments aside I loved FW, mainly because i came from a player alliance and have some experience in open warfare, and also am a hardened mission runner who has lots of social skills.
Once these issues are addressed i will definately return to FW, but unfortunately my ceo retired us.
