Earlier today a Caldari fleet lead by Boromor was roaming the black rise region. After killing several Gallente fleets (approx. 60-80 hostile ships were destroyed in the process) and camping Old Man Star (entrance system to Gallente highsec), Boromor came up with the idea to enter Gallente highsec with few tanked ships in a suicide op.
So some of us jumped in on top of a fully surprised gallente gang, ambushing them right in front of the eyes of their Navy, which showed up to assist. After some juicy kills of shocked gallente gatecampers, which contained expensive fitted t2 ships (example 1, example 2) and quite a lot of random t1 ships, everyone wanted more of that, like sharks that tasted blood, and Boromor had this nice idea to go to Gallente highsec in suicide-fitted caracal cruisers.
What happened then was the best eve action so far for many of us. A huge swarm of caracals, fitted with inertias, sensor boosters and tackling gear entered Gallente highsec and started an unprecedented terror campaign, warping from system to system, checking stations, belts and gates, killing surprised wartargets under the fire of the faction navy.
Gallente melitia members, that felt relatively safe in highsec before, were shocked and surprised, we killed battelships, command ships and even faction ships (example 1, example 2, example 3) during that operation, spreading fear and causing havoc in the core systems of the enemy.
Faction warfare is entering in a new phase here, the terror will not remain in low security battelgrounds, but will be brought to high security and the trade hubs, and the joy and enthusiasm many of us expirienced during that op, will for sure cause more of such ops.
So whenever you Gallentes go shopping in your main hubs, or up to a mining op in highsec, better watch your back, because the next "Shock and Awe" terrorsquad might be already in warp on top of you

Caldari are using a ship that they can use in their stupid high groups.
Caracals.
Caracals have the highest volley damage of any tech 1 cruiser (I think) and if you aim 20+ Caracals at any target they're gonna feel it before they can react.
So, while I applaud your little tromp into my home region, when I sign up for FW prepare to have your little toy throwaway ships obliterated.

erm
You were going around in a gank fleet. I saw a few Gallente fleets around today as well (I haven't signed up for FW yet) and I will imagine they were doing their bit of blobbing too.
Keep in mind that anywhere in EVE, numbers will [almost always] win. 20+ ships vs 1 ship should be a very obvious outcome.
And as I said before, as player to player I think that is great that you guys went out and got some action. FW is all about promoting PVP and getting around doing your thing. But, the real good fight would be from finding a fleet your size, then THAT is a battle.
Otherwise 20 vs 1 is just a gank. I wouldn't even call it a skirmish.

Edited by: Robert Rosenberg on 19/06/2008 04:49:43 20 caracals is a large roaming gang, not even a blob. The fact that 20 caracals were able to smash a gallente gatecamp (with gallente NPC support), then go around killing all sorts of things while the gallente scurried like rats says something about the Gallente.
I am sure the gallente had 20 people that could go and stop it, but those 20 people all ran like roaches to their stations, and cried for 80 people because the gallente noobs only engage 4:1 minimum based on the Tama camps (Which is the extent of the gallente FW presence).
If I was gallente I would ragequit out of shame.

No, it's only says something about the ease with which fleets can go around busting gate camps with superior numbers of inferior ships. Heck, in the gatecamp busting example, the gatecamp was heavy assault cruisers versus battleships - three ravens and an ECM battleship versus an Ishtar!
Remind me again, how much larger is the Caldari FW faction than Goonswarm? How much larger than the Gallente FW faction?

You lost THIS fight by being a bunch of cowardly, idiotic, poorly performing noobs.
And nothing you say can change that. There were no Hac's, no Ishtar's, no nothing elite. It was a bunch of noobs in Caracals and you "leet pvp proz" on Gallente all either ran or died. And at least three Ravens to tank the NPCs and a Scorpion (no idea of how it was fitted though).
This was an organised group that went on a blitzkrieg. Well done on the organisation and execution. Note that the Caldari force scored a few kills, then retreated before the Gallente could musterer a response. Making more of it than that is only stroking your e-peen.

If you were 2 months old and a fleet of TWENTY SHIPS jumped in on you, catching you entirely off-guard and you may have been hauling/had fitted expensive things, I'm sure you'd book for the nearest safe or station too.
This goes for any race, not just the Gallente. Tell us vets who have been around for a while to our faces that we suck at "pvp leetz pwnzors" and we can set up a meet for 5 of us versus your fleet of Caracals.

I was caught out by a few ships entering Villore last night after returning from an operation that went badly (sadly this went badly mainly due to a huge lag spike that allowed us to do nothing when the fight started) but concidering that the Caldari would not engage the Gallente even when they had double the fleet numbers I find any word of Caldari bravery hard to belive, untill I saw the ships coming into Villore. I salute your act here maybe some pilots in the Caldari fleet will grow some balls after all, I really want to get the fights in win or lose (well I would like to win obviously) instead of watching huge fleets of Caldari the rush back to high sec or dock up the second they see any Gallente fleet that reaches half the Caldari numbers. Bring it on Caldari bring it on.

Yeah, this about sums up why gallente suck. You run away every time unless you have the perfect gang at the perfect time. You never take a long-shot. Caldari took a long shot and took a ballsey move by bringing their gang into high-sec.
You, however, will dock up unless you are 100% to win.

The same fleet, mainly in FR, CR and BC sized ships, chose to stay and fight when pirates hotdropped three carriers and brought in several BS at a gate in Ladistier, a short while before the Gallente highsec romp.
Most of the BS were downed, as well as an Archon, before Gallente militiamen started showing up in numbers and larger ships. The fleet then rallied, recovered and returned to Gallente territory to press further on.
Incursions into enemy secure space is meant to disrupt and lower morale. However, if the Gallente plan such a thing, please take out anyone hanging around the entry gates in noobships or shuttles, the loot thief vultures out there preying on battlefield wrecks deserve nothing less. |

Nice show chaps.
I notice that the kill mails are from 0.5 systems, and as far as I know, the level of the navy response is determined by the security level of the system. Meaning that if you want to run a few missions or mine while in the militia, you better not do it in a 0.5 system.
So, how difficult was the navy response in 0.5? ---------------- Mr. Science & Trade Institute |

When you came from OMS to Villore though with the caracals you were trying to get through as fast as possible and lost a good number of caracals along the way.
Couldnt chase you all, though we tried for awhile.
It was very suprising to see you jump into high sec like that, and when fighting the 1st battle I warped away smokeing once.

Anyway, enough with the sarcasm. Its a game, the caldari fleet did a good job today. Much props to the caldari faction. Everyone who's getting angry about this sort of thing really needs to calm down and get a life...
I'd like to see a total of ships lost on both sides and maybe a run down as to when it was an even fight or 20vs1. just for lols.
On one hand you gotta give them credit for attacking gals on their home turf. On the other hand caldari outnumbers the 3 other factions. So the chances for caldari to get into highsec and not get stomped for it is much higher then say Amarr pulling that off. GG either way, it made me laugh thinking about it because of all the gal trash talk.
as for talking trash on either side, go for it. remember its a game so its nothing serious so trashtalk is part of the fun. I never understood the guys that said trashtalk wasn't part of the game. But i guess those guys wear white gloves while playing games online.

It makes me laugh and cry in astonishment how you guys suck at pvp and cheer at a few decent kills you needed like 120+ blobs for, while we do better with 60 man fleets.
We are outnumbered against your blobs of 140, but we've always won the 80 vs 50 or the 50 vs 30 battles.
So cheer along..your blobs are no accomplishment what-so-ever.

The op neglected to mention how the caracal 'suicide' run actually ended. The fleet was down to about 5 caracals and a good number of pods warping around in Old Man star to avoid the rather enraged Gallente.
At that point a discussion ensued as to whether the fight could be continued by those players in pods fitting out Ibises for battle.
Being in on the discussion about how to fit out an Ibis to fight gotta be the most fun I had in Eve yet.
The fleet retired to a station in Old Man Star to fit out the Ibises during which time the station was camped by a Gallente fleet about 25 strong.
In a last 'Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid' type move the fleet undocked to meet their fate. Before being killed they managed to make a further 2 kills from the 25 strong station camp fleet

Nice one Caldari! And to people who say "blob" and "20 vs 1" when looking at killmails... that's what you get when called primary, you know. 20 vs You at one point.
Now let's see Gallente striking back with 40 nano-vexors and droneswarm in Jita! Make the market collapse!

If Gallente are outnumbered by the Caldari wtf are their FCs doing trying to make a blob to counter them?
Split the fleet and move into Black Rise rather than sit in Old Man star night after night shouting "X up guys" and telling people who are trying to cap some systems "No, come help us we are the main fleet".
Gallente Militia needs to do something other than just blob up in OMS every single night.
If Gallente don't sort their act out fast this is going to end very badly for them.

What, gallente blobbing in oms? Since when? We are more often in tama than oms.
Problem is that caldari arent there and just go right past the gallente fleet. While caldari are attacking our high sec and plexes, the gallente militia are once in a while shooting an idiot who decided to try it in a drake. Next gallente militia became bored and turned to pirating and blobbing neutrals, while caldari militia is doing something usefull.
For all gallente whining about caldari blobs, then stop trying to outblob them.

We get it, we get it. The Caldari should show up one at a time to prove Gallente are so good at PvP... Right. You got beaten good.. Do something original for a change.. Compliment them on a bold move...

AFAIK Gallente has now passed the Caldari in victory points per day too, The Caldari just have their advantage from the first few days still.
And for the record, the Gallente militia stands at about 4000 members, The Caldari one at 6000. Just FYI

FW is just damn fun, some times the blob is bigger than yours sometimes its not. Mostly it comes down to the FC and what he wants to do. People i now have met are shining brighter than others i have known for a loooong time. I se great leadership, great dedication and even chivalry. Donations, loot collecting, people getting stuff back, or a few iskies to keep them going....just plain wow <--
FW fleet combat cant be compared to 0.0 fleet fights. Here the worst case is that you loose a ship, in 0.0 you might loose your home. I do se alot of noobs, but they are turning into baby tigers and a rushing to get full grown predators.
I se great nano fleets. i se blob fleets fighting it out and mostly i hear people screaming for more..
with alot of noobs FC`s have to look at the grand scale, not the fights them selfs and so far (can only talk about the caldari side) i have seen just that. There are close fights out there by numbers. winning and loosing happening 23/7 keep it at that, not complaining about who are doing what (want me to name and shame Gallante loggers??)
Keep it simple, keep it on the battlefield and have fun, i do have fun and im down 260 mil in two days

Hehe this is what I said in fleet chat last night, their first little victory post
But was it a victory? I mean a 140 men strong caldari fleet didn't had the guts to come too the smaller 78 men strong gallente fleet, in fact it was the gallente who decided to take the battle to them, when they found out that we were coming the other way around them they quickly repositioned themselves so that they would have the grid loaded before us and in so suffer allot less from lag.
The gallente have proven one thing last night, if the Caldari doesn't have the balls to bring it to us then we will bring it to them.

260 mil , I've spent only 30 mil but it was over half of my wallet balance!
But you're right it is fun and it should stay this way, this is why I play eve, at the end of the day its just a game.
That was a bold move by the Caldari and I had always wondered if it would be possible to take raiding parties through caldari hi-sec to cause mayhem, but was not sure how strong the NPC navies were. Now we have the answer we should see more of this action!
Trouble is I missed the best action last night and only had a minor effect on removing the first 3 battleships that jumped into villore. But I did survive
I just hope the Caldari try another bold move into hi-sec soon, because I have a cunning plan to counter them!

Problem is that the same thing happened the night before and it ended in a standoff, if both sides keep this thinking up its gonna turn out to be boring. Maybe CCP should put some mini games into the client like tetris so that we can keep ourselves busy while each camp holds on their side of the gate.

This is just one of these things, and i bet it will happen alot more. We always have one thing to think about before doing anything, where are the nano fleet(40+ nanoships). There moves dictate our fights, we have to choose wisely not badly...
Im pretty sure that cals will jump into gals and the otherway around, but the battlefield is not only at the gates, the battlefield is the surrounding systems to. I know it can be disapointing, but keep the head up high and have fun, it is only spaceships and so far you guys have nailed me for 260 mil space ship pixels :) and im not complaining :)

Originally by: Tiu Cibai The same fleet, mainly in FR, CR and BC sized ships, chose to stay and fight when pirates hotdropped three carriers and brought in several BS at a gate in Ladistier, a short while before the Gallente highsec romp.
Most of the BS were downed, as well as an Archon, before Gallente militiamen started showing up in numbers and larger ships. The fleet then rallied, recovered and returned to Gallente territory to press further on.
Just to put the record straight on that one. You engaged 3 pirate carriers on the Aeschee gate in Ladistier. A small 12 man response group was formed in Aeschee in battleships versus your 50+ fleet. The Archon and 4 battleships were lost, you lost over 20 ships and retreated. Gallente Militia looted the field and the pair of Thanatos were saved. 50+ against 15 and Gal Militia came out on top, it was helluva fight and lots of fun.
No idea about this high sec business, sounds fun.

Robert reminds me so much of an average 13 year old WoW player who claims that Horde is run only by pro-gamers whereas Alliance is only run by noobs. *yawn*

You realise most smacking comes from our (gallente) militia?

Spend less time smacking the Gallente and come defend your land, filthy slaver.

Good thread, nice to see the Caldari are taking the fight to the Gallente even into the enemies high sec.
If stopped hiding in hi sec gallente, this wouldn't be necessary :p

This is true. Gallente is doing the most smacking, caldari doing the most whining (about nanos, of course)
Of course, the gallente/caldari front is fairly even. The minmatar are absolutely rolling the amarr, so if there's any actual place where smacking/whining is justified, it's on that front.

If this is the SNUFF carrier then that group that ran off the millitia gang was FOOM and freinds...
In truth the caldari blob faired poorly to gallente millitia even there... the archon doesn't count. Search: Sky Grunthor |
