So ive seen all these nano this anti nano that threads and I have come to one conclusion. Nano's are expensive, Ive seen nano setups upwards of a billion, and Ive seen anti nano set ups that are vary expensive as well.
This got me wondering, all these guys are great pvpers, which im not, how the heck do they make all this isk to afford all these uber set ups? Running mish will not keep you in these uber setups ship after ship, and I cannot picture you in a hulk mining for days on end, and you certainly do not get that kind of isk salvaging wrecks, if you have time.
So how do you make isk?

datacore farm alts (not as good as it used to be), ratting in 0.0, carebear alts, some leftover T2 BPO owners, some people invest a bunch of money in something (though that's usually a great way to get screwed), a friend of mine makes freighters by logging in once a week and pulls 3-4 bil every few days. A lot of corps help out with stuff, too.

i have wondered this too... seemingly endless supply of HAC's and command ships, snake sets, etc. i guess they probably use mission, mining, or trader alts to farm up some isk, or maybe they rat around in 0.0 for awhile. ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.

ratting in 0.0 only gets me about 20 to 30 million an hour, And gets boring, although when I was in hydra I used to do it quite often because I would get a lot of hauler spawns in vale and make over 150 mill off each spawn. Other than the hauler spawns, I just dont see ratting as a viable way to feed the pvp bug.
ratting for 3 to four hours for 80 million?

Well, if you only lose one HAC a week you only need to rat for 3-4 hours a day for 3 days to buy another.

when ANDE was going we did it fine, pretty much all we did was hang around low sec lonetrek and kill stuff on gates, however a lot of the times we also kill the odd carrier/gang who thinks they r ubar gate campers.. you get a few navy ravens once in a while. and we almost NEVER died.. im not saying all we did was gank people because a lot of the times you would get decent sized gangs or multiple targets on a gate and we would still go for it
IMO if you are always losing money @ pvp then you're doing it wrongÖ ╟

how? does he mine truckloads of minerals, or does he buy the minerals/components to build them? and isn't the manufacturing time on a freighter like at least a week? but i suppose if he had multiple freighter BPO's he could build more than one at a time... ~~~~ ~~~~ ~~~~ Take away the risk and it would make flying around in space utterly pointless.

In my experience PVP'rs get thier isk from:
1. Ratting in 0.0
2. Manufacturing Alts
3. PVE Mission Alts
Having done alot of pvp, there isn't any money in it really ...

I don't know the details (he won't tell me all of it lol), but I know he has at least 4 freighter BPOs.

To be perfectly honest, i sell stuff. I sell stuff to lazy missionrunners. Factionloot that is of no worth for me, selling for 1b+. Crystal implants for completely insane prices 30% more than in jita, because they can't fly the 3 jumps to jita.
Basically, i profit from lazyness and stupidity. And i make enough cash with it to spend my moneys on stuff.

No one of you will leave the closed and say "selling GTC"? Honesty is good for the soul.
My opinion is that at least 1/4 of them use that system to finance the ships.

The really embarassing thing is that it also works the other way around: "traders" in Jita who can't be arsed moving 3 systems over to pick up stuff at a far lower price.

I do various things to make isk. Doing one thing purely can net you alot but it gets boring.
I'll do the occasional ratting (maybe once a fortnight, get about 100m), resell stuff in 0.0 (Not hard to stuff any spare m¦ in your carrier with T2 mods to sell for a profit later on makes quite a bit if you do it regularly) Trade faction mods in empire etc.
Also, just don't lose your ship all that often :P -----

Exactly.
Also half decent nano setups aren't that expensive, for instance my nano zealot costs less than 150mil, it does plenty of damage thanks to 2 damage mods and a tracking enhancer, only does about 3.2km/s but its fast enough to not take too much damage and to be able to disenage if you use it right.
Though of course the running away isn't the important bit its that nano ships are great fun to fly and arn't easily defeated by blob tactics. |

Then run lvl4's in minmatar space and manufacture Republic MWD's for the nano warriors to buy. Ver hoon gives out 9k lp per mission if I remember correctly. --

It takes a lot of SP and a decent amount of start-up capital, but if you know what your doing and can tap the demand, you can make a crudload of cash with an industry alt, especially if you mine, research, manufacture and invent. The more of the process you do yourself, the more profit you get to keep.
Also, ratting in 0.0 helps keep the balance up --
