Edited by: Fangedterror on 07/07/2008 14:54:34 In eve I am a total a**H*** Yes sir, I will ransom you and then after you paied i will kill you anyways. I will call you childish names, provoke you, and become a general d*ck in local chat.
But this is not how i act in Real Life at all. In RL i am charming, nice, and handsome Is this NORMAL???
How do you act in eve compared to RL?
I want to know!

I act in EVE the same way I act in real life, however I once had a pirate alt and when playing that character I would happily gank helpless noobs all day. So I guess the level of separation between reality and the game is up to the player. -

Edited by: Slanty McGarglefist on 07/07/2008 15:02:36 I'm a nice individual in real life and I am the same in game as well. What annoys me is that whenever I want to act like an asshat in the game, I feel bad about it and never do it! __________________________________________________

Hmm.
RL is hard! U can't hit "Replay" or simply buy another ship! If you smack someone, u might end up getting one to your face as well, so I try to avoid that :)
Also the girls.. Compared to Exotic Dancers ofc.. Does not seem to "get on" from me telling them I have my own carrier!! :/ Perhaps purchasing a Titan with xxxx GTC's will make me superl33t? Will it fix my virginity as well? \o/
I guess I act normal in RL.. I think
In-eve : Fly around and attack random people , sometimes a glorious victory with juicy beartears to it. other times, total fail and another lesson learned
RL : Acting normally, and not attack random people

Edited by: Tharukan Desm''ar on 07/07/2008 15:16:52 I pretty much act like i do in real life. Chat away with people i know. Polite to people in general and help where I can with with corp and alliance stuff. I wouldn't really say I have an online persona in that regard that i am the same way in real life.

I'm definitely more outgoing in EVE than in real life. You'd never catch me making motivational speeches outside of EVE. It was actually a problem when I first started using voice comms, to be honest. I'm pretty introverted outside the interwebs. ---------------- Play EVE: Downtime Madness v0.83 (Updated 7/3) |

Im a bit ****ier on the forums.
In business life, Im more of a team player even if the team are filled of slow working lazy people. No point in making an enemy out of people.

In RL I murder, steal, pillage, set people on fire, ransom people that sort of thing. When I feel like I need a break I come to eve and mine in high sec, run level 1 missions and chat in eve radio.

Attitude wise, I'm pretty much the same. I have no time for whiney kids. I have no patience for sitting around doing nothing. I am strong willed (pig headed) and speak my mind probably more than I should.
As an avid RPer for a loooong time I have found that no matter how hard you try to create a completely fantastical character, your real self will always slip through.

In game I'm a rotten pirate that'll pod you just for fun. RL I'm just an average guy.
I like to think of Eve-o as letting out my darker side for a run.

I find myself to be way nicer to ppl in Eve than in RL - I guess the simple reason is that if I act like a **** IRL, I don't get ganked and don't lose billions in spaceships as compared to Eve...

That, and with a name like Diarrhea you almost have to be nicer.

well in terms of how i talk to people treat them and act around other people, then yes i act the same way ingame as in rl, really nice to people i like/don't know and an ass hat to people who deserve it. i keep the same sense of humor as well (though i don't try and scam anyone in real life )

I'm more talkative and communicative in the game and forums than in RL (outside of what is necessary for work)... and then I'm pretty quiet in EvE.
Over the last years I've become very reclusive and talk as little as possible in RL, I've given up on my old friends and all social life outside of work and family. And I'm very happy with it.

i have this theory... hear me out...
those of you that act like griefers / pirates in game, i wonder how many of you had a really aweful time at school and were bullied ... cause my theory is this, your too shit scared to actually stand up for yourselves in r/l so therefore, eve or any other mmo is a safe way for you to inflict anger / hurt / mistrust without the worry of getting a smack in the mouth.
I am no pirate, i have never scammed and i certainly have never gone out of my way to ruin someones game time, but then again, i was never a bully, nor was i bullied ... just a curious theory...

very much the same both in the game and out, completely honest, light hearted and well humoured. I'd say i give no heed to the rpg aspect at all beyond the most basic levels of game mechanics (though the first thing that entered my mind upon reading your name was the cerberus HAC :P). I'm reasonably quiet and understand that sometimes what I want to say has no use, unless some cretinous internet alphamale insults me, upon which i'll put them back in their place.
So yeah, i'm me both ingame and out, how could I be anything else?

Originally by: Fangedterror Is this NORMAL???
In Eve, there are little if any consequences, despite claims to the contrary. There are no real punishments, and perhaps more importantly, little if any social control. In fact, there seems to be a strong supportive culture for behaving like an *******. There are many groups that support and reinforce exluding of other large groups of people from the "us" circle, thus limiting or eliminating normal guilt for bad deeds done to "those people".
A large part of Eve is built around preying on the weak (whether that power relation is temporary or lasting), and again, without the inhibitors rl society has, well, this is what you get.
I firmly believe most people behave pretty much as is expected of them, in RL.
However, it's also worth remembering that most "bad" people irl, whether the common ******* or a career criminal, seldom see themselves as the "bad guy". Rather, they rationalize their behavior, often by blaming their victim.

totally true, most these d1ckheads in the game would probably be thieves and murderers in RL if there were no laws and police.
