Well jeez, if you don't recognize someones name then they are obviously an unskilled nobody. Thanks for sharing your opinion, douchebag.
lol, do you need to re-read my post? And dont get all emo with me. Let me clarify it for you; many people have already mentioned that 'old school' pirates dont pirate anymore, Im saything that yes there are still plenty, its just alot of them have lost interest in the forums, therefore the forums are nothing to go by with regards to pirate activity.

I think the two of us, along with kublai, kehmor (<3), ikvar since his return and a couple of others are the only ones left from all that time ago. Most have quit, or sold out to large alliances and become sheep with a number branded on their ass.
It's sad to see really. Most pirate corps don't tend to last that long these days, they generally tend to die out after 6-8 months as people find they can't handle being outlaw.
There's a few corps out there who've been surprising resiliant though, mainly due to sheer numbers giving them the staying power.
Lowsec is quite a different place than it was a four years ago, unfortunatley.

If i have my way. Piracy will never die. We ransom, bust camps, make camps, steal/***** isk. ANYTHING to do with piracy we do. So, no, piracy is more of a "secret service" now. Bit like the SAS. Known, but not often seen in action

I'm not dead yet! Though I do seem to lose my ships at an alarming rate, ah well... such is the life of a pirate in the infancy of his carreer, in all honesty I can't recommend soloing though that's the path I walk. It's fun but you get wiped out so much.

Piracy has fallen from grace very much in the last 8 months to a year.
Now days you just get a bunch of roaming gangs that are out to kill stuff. When you pay a ransom for the most part you can be expected to be popped anyway, with a ohh you paid one isk to much or one isk to less... people think they are kewl.
People say pirates have no honor, though I tend to disagree a good pirate has a good name, Its marked and cursed as a pirate but at the same time their reputation is known..
To many lolz kids out there that just get a power trip out of having another ship locked down and blowing it up, or doing something dirty sense after all thats what pirates are... dirty right?......
Having a -10.0 standing does not make you a pirate either... As many seem to think too.
As a counter to the problem I just moved out into 0.0, at least htere you know if its red its probably going to shoot at you the first chance it gets, and its going to blow you up... its not going to ransom you.. and your pod is done too
To all you old school true pirates "07" take up apprentices, pass on the knowledge and dont let the "honor" die!

Piracy isn't dead, in fact people keep asking this question about every other month. You don't have to keep asking a dead guy if he's dead right?

an interesting thread with some unusually measured replies.
since this character was born (my first character, i do have alt haulers for when i really need shopping and an alt trader now to sell stuff i loot)
my sole income is from piracy. i have a trading alt, that sells loot but the source of the isk is piracy, i kill people take their mods or ransom them. thats all i do.
killing people and being contracted to kill people.
personally i class myself as a pirate.

Piracy only seems like it is dead because it's much harder to accomplish value in today's galaxy. There is still opportunity there that no one wants to find anymore.
I have been a pirate since the days of my creation. Since the fall of some really good corps and pilots there hasn't been any real quality prospects to fall back on. We did have good prospects come along like Veto and the like, but again the idea of mixing old with the new has never turned over well in any event. So the turning towards our own corps and goals to only fail made it much worse.
Still today, I can't help but stress even more than before that alliances are spawning left and right. Alliances that control space and set laws to all those who pass. These laws, these rules or maybe these guidelines on which these weaker pilots follow in order to survive in a space that is unknown to them even when controlled is a prime hunting ground still today. It's unethical, maybe a little insane to most but where there is law; you will find me.
Piracy is not dead. It's only weeding out the pilots who don't deserve to be here.
