That is just an opinion, and one that may upset a lot of people - watch what you saying. I'm not religious at all really, and even I can see how that may be seen as offensive.
I guess I meant praying for lower gas prices is silly. It's a man-made problem you're asking GOD to solve for you. If you look in the dictionary for ignorance, you'd see a picture of a bunch of ppl paying for lower gas prices... ------------------------------------------------ Current Hobby other than EVE |

Yeah, praying for lower gas prices is the same thing as * Doing a rain dance to save the crops or * Refusing to get a blood transfusion because you think God doesn't like blood transfusions or * Erecting a totem pole in your yard, or * Wearing an 'evil eye' pendant to ward off curses, or * Not having a 13th story on a bldg, or * Not taking your kid to the doctor when they have a high fever because you believe God will provide or, frankly, * not eating pork, or shellfish, or meat and cheese on the same plate or Fish on Friday (or, whatever) because you think God said so a long time ago...
It's all stinkin' ridiculous. People just need to get off their duffs, think for themselves, and not rely on silly superstitions.
Unless, of course, it's the FSM. Which is just as valid as any of those other gods.

people pray to a god and folow a religion becasue they are too lazy to get up and think for themselves, they need someone to tell them waht to belive and how to think. hell teh otehr day a friend of mine was ****ed off because i mentioned somthing about how the moon may have been created billions of years back and practically started screaming that the earth is only 6k years old...

I would seriously tell him he can either start using the brain his so called "GOD" gave him or he can find another friend.
That's seriously whacked. 6k?
I could not stand to have a friend who thought that way...

I thought that praying to god for reduced gas prices was funny but saying that they're actually doing something as opposed to us 'hipocrits' was even funnier. I'll have to keep up on this story and see if prayer and horrible singing actually changes anything.
Oh and I also left out that my manager switched me from 5 8's to 4 10's so that we have one less day to travel to work thus saving more gas.
Yeah my friend/landlords company is about to switch them to work from home. Boy am I ****ed...well I can not be ****ed considering my job can not be done out of my place of living .

Coincidentally, there was just a post about people who have questions should do some Google searching first before posting. Just do a minimal Google search and you can find your answers backed by various in-depth theologies. Just pick one and read. Many theologies are different.

The fact you live in the US, means you are just what you preach religious people to be. You are under the constraint of the laws of this society which are Judaeo-Christianity based.

That's one of the main problem with religion. Don't like the set of rules your church provides, branch off and change them and tell people that what god decrees.
Quote: God Decrees that we shall drink heavily and pertain massive orgies at the house of Dietrich for his will be done twice at night and again in the morning.
See how easy that was.

Another problem: If god was told to create a stone so heavy that not even he could lift it then what would happen? If he created it that would mean that he'd be a part of this realitys rules and forces as he wouldn't be able to lift the stone. If he told you that he couldn't then his power obviously isn't infinite.

Wrong. You can't just disregard a well known philosophical theory by just comparing it to a flawed argument based on your lack of understanding in the quantum physics departments.
If your god does indeed exist then this argument proves that it isn't omnipotent. It has to obey the rules of this universe, which means that this god of yours can't cut the price of gasoline...unless it puts on a suit and take san active role in the world economy.
On a slightly lighter note: if your god is perfect and he created us in his own image then howcome people frequently bite the inside of their mouths by accident? Could this be the work of Satan?
