Will you be creating an easy to use API? So we can actually use your maps? :)

What do the colored lines connecting each system signify? Some of them are black, others are red while some are purple.

Black = Normal Jumps Red = Constallation Jumps Purple = Region Jumps
You can find the same colors in the ingame map aswell.

Thanks, these maps are awesome and so very helpful.
How up to date are the statistics about ship kills and pod kills? They don't seem to be matching what the "map" in eve indicates.

On the bottom of the page you see the "API Update" Timers. I can only update the kills once per hour via API. So the stats can be out of date for up to 2 hours (last time when the api has been updated + timeframe of the numbers).
The number sums up all kills that happend in hour previous to the API call.
The ingame map is always more up2date and has more features (like pilots in space, docked, etc).

Edited by: Spc One on 15/02/2011 07:55:11 I have an idea for dotlan maps. I am missing the option to sort sov by date.
For example if i want to check sov in providence on october 2010 there should be an option where user can select a date and dotlan updates all systems automatically to that date, how it was back then. This way user can see who lived there and what changed on map.

Basically that's already available. If you look on the map you'll see some smaller icons in the top bar. Example: [Day -1] [Today] [Day +1]
With them you can walk through the sov history, etc (incl. all available overlays!). What's actually missing is a date selector popup ... But i'm usually just changing the url then (should be self explaining.

Not sure if this was the place to ask this.
The last 3 days I have had issues using the Radar tracker on Dotlan's website... telling me that my IGB Header is invalid.
Anyone else having this problem?

I'm verifing the existence of basic IGB Headers and the matching of IDs <-> Names. But it looks like CCP is heaving some API server problems. Maybe i should change that...

Would it be possible to generate a version of the pdf that doesn't contain any sov details? Just the immutable details? It looks like you only display that data in one spot, the YYYYYYY (N) area of each system. Could we (I) get a render that leaves that out? I'd like to print this, and it seems odd to print almost immediately outdated information.

Yes you can. It's described in this blog post: http://evemaps.dotlan.net/blog/2010/07/12/overlay-informations-on-pdf-maps-and-other-stuff/
It's basically map.pdf?overlay=XXXX where XXXX is the same overlay you can choose from on the online maps aswell (const, sec, etc)

That's pretty cool, but it's region by region. It looks like that those options can't be applied to the universe map. Thanks, though!

I'm not sure if this has been asked, as I've only had time to crawl about 1/2 the entire thread: how does one contribute to the information? The moons, ores, etc are very out of date (or not there at all) for my region. Thank you!

Moon minerals are based on user provided scans results (mostly text/spreadsheets) and are imported when I get some and when I've some time (or my co-worker ).
Belt ores are based on an ancient algorithm based on the security class database field. Since I've no other source there's nothing I can change. There's a dedicated Ore page somewhere else afaik.

Copy & Paste from my blog
IÆll post a full detailed change log with the coming update in the next 1-2 weeks. IÆm doing some latest updates, changes, checks and tests. Here are the major changes in a short list (which are not technical):
- Detailed ticker changes (colored corp description diff)
- Places listings (Landmarks, Agents in space, Sites, Static Complexes)
- Agent search (+ Details)
- User services
- Login via 3rd party authentication services
- Lowsec borders become ashed as visibility increase for pilots with red/green color problems
- Date selector for (historical) maps, sovereignty / alliance change listings
- Highlighted changes on historical maps
- Select systems, etc from the favorites dropdown box
- Create and share jump bridge networks
- Use your own or subscribed jump bridge networks in the route planer
- Access the history of your radar track history (only for users with verified API keys)
- Endless scrolling in the live ticker / event listings
- The Like button for *all* live ticker changes. (ItÆs just a counter but fun to watch whatÆs currently hot)
For more and screenshots of the upcoming features visit the blog entry: http://evemaps.dotlan.net/blog/2011/03/28/update-preview/

I converted the links into real links in the board. But I don't get any 404. Otherwise just visit the blog section on DOTLAN EveMaps and you're done.

Ive notices some Sov information displaying wrong on the DotLan maps. In cloud Ring, the system FQ9W-C shows sov 0, but has sov 2 with online cyno beacons.
Not sure how, but thought Id let you know.

some more things from my side.
- Is it necessary to see JBs for both sides? (for example from System A to B and system B to A)
Looks redundant to me since the 2 JBs are bound to each other anyways.
- Maybe a possible "owner" info on the JB so you can yell at the right corp to refuel it
prolly more incoming

fixed. Around that time I had 2 update process running and both were messing up my sov database. I hope I found the majority of those history errors :-/

I'm usually verifying the existence of a player and corporation via the API. If the API isn't reachable the simple header verification will fail of course. That's generate that IGB Header data invalid error message.

Well ... a) you can have differnent passwords on both sides b) Since you link every single JB with somebody else, I'm not sure if you can setup a triangle ... but nobody really does it :-P
about more information: I didn't wanted to add more information then needed. Maybe somebody, maybe not until I see a reason for.
