Edited by: Elsu Rodan on 23/04/2010 19:39:39 Just a suggestion that I think would be helpful:
Add a new option on the map info layer tab; when it is selected, clicking on a system does not take you to system info, but instead highlights it on the map. Especially on some of they very large regions, that would help me keep track of where I am on the map while switching windows back and forth.
Great tool otherwise, thanks!

Hey Wollari,
first of all, great maps, really helpful.
But i seem to have a small problem displaying them on Chromium (5.0.342.9 (43360)) running on Linux.
Maybe you could have a look at the Screenshot.
Thanks!

Thanks for the report. I just installed Chromium on Linux PC at work and can reproduce the error by myself. But Chrome on Windows/Firefox/Safari/Opera are working fine.
The interesting thing is that in the legend (bottom right) the triangle/<polygon> station symbol (with absolute positioning) is okay, while triangle/<polygon> in the station definition (with relative position/<use>) has problems.
That's looking more like a browser related bug under linux :-/

Looks like it. The Chromium Developer tools show lots of Errors like this:
Error: Problem parsing points="60,6 9,5 55,1 15 60,6 20,5 60,6 9,5"
Maybe that has something to do with it?

Not a particularly major thing, but, living in Minmatar Space (( i r grumpy, ex-slave, Amarr hating RPer )), I'm lucky enough to find myself in Metropolis every now and then. With 159 systems, it's the second largest region in EVE. Compare that to Heimatar, with 83, and Molden Heath, with 38.
When printing a 159 system map onto A4 paper, you find yourself in need of a magnifying glass whenever you want to consult it. I pity anyone who attempts to print out the 192 system Domain map! Actually. If they're living in Domain space, they must be Amarr supports, in which case they can burn in hell.
That said, would it be possible to, with the larger regions, allow the user to print the map out over several pages? Metropolis could easily be split over two pages by slicing between:
i) Hek / Olbra (via. Eystur)
ii) Hek / Eram (via. Eystur / Vullat)
iii) Bei / Ongund
This would put 5 low-sec, 2 high/low-sec and 1 high-sec constellation on Page 1, 4 high/low-sec and 11 high-sec constellations on Page 2. Systems would be split 55 / 104, with the 55 system map being much similar in size and high-sec/low-sec system ratio to Molden Heath.
Though it'd probably be complicate things further, you could also split off the four high/low-sec constellations from the Page 2 and put them on the first one to create a 71 / 81 split. Including Aldagolf, Yrmori, Eram and Vullat would show how the two groups of constellations link.

Some of you might have followed my twitter posts in the last days and realized that I was working a lot in the background. Most of the stuff was just background stuff and database preparation for upcoming future things but the most notable are those two.
Topics:- Reintroduction of strategic levels ehm à sovereignty levels (how IÆll continue naming them)Reintroduction of strategic levels ehm à sovereignty levels (how IÆll continue naming them)
- Updated alliance history database (with now available graphs for system hold by strat ehm sov levels)
- System statistics for jumps andkills (up to 30 days before I purge them)

Hello Wollari,
Under the NPC Corp page you can do "Show Agents" which I find very handy but what would be handier if you could add two extra columns for each agent:
Constellation that they are in Security Station of their Sytem
Why? Ok well I can currently import said page into a spreadsheet and filter it down to system name but if there was extra info such as Constellation and even Sec status where they are then I can plot better on how to raise standings by going to the best group(s) of agents together by going to that groups constellation etc and with sec status I have that choice to pursue or not that agent.
There's potential more stuff that could be added such as jumps between each constellation, generating agent info as an ovelay on region maps but that would require a lot more effort than I think I could ask Wink
What do ya reckon?

Constellation will be added for the next upcoming update on DOTLAN EveMaps. Security is already included in the current list of agents in NPC Corps.

Well, A more detailed agent search is also somewhere on my todo list, but there're already a couple webpages who're focussing on agents and missioning, so I can't you right now, when or if I'll add more agent informations on the page.

Major Summer Update 2010 - Not only for your planetary invasion
Page: http://evemaps.dotlan.net Blog: http://evemaps.dotlan.net/blog/2010/06/05/not-only-for-your-planetary-invasion/
Today, I decided not to do any more feature additions which I had in my head, but rather I should start writing Patch Notes and make Screenshot of all the new features and improvements. I don't want to stress you today too much with #walloftext, so I just give you this handy CCP-style list in the hands. Flame on!
Patch Notes
Live Ticker:- All changes in the APIs that are being tracked by DOTLAN EveMaps are now available in the new central Live Ticker.
- Additional to the already tracked APIs (Sovereignty, Alliances, Outposts, Faction Warfare Systems), I added Corporation Changes to the overall portfolio.
- I unpacked about 8mil stored XML Files/API Results (about 35GB), nearly 2 years of data) for Corporations and replayed them all. Alliance data got replayed as well for completing the database.
- The following change types are now being tracked:
- Alliance changes their executive corporation
- Corporation gets a new CEO
- Corporation moves their HQ
- Corporation changes their description, url or logo
- You can filter the live ticker by type (Sov, Ally, ...) by action (Lost, Gain, ...) or filter the changes for to one of the involved entities (Alliance, Corp, System, Constellation, Region, Faction) or a combination of multiple filters.
- RSS/Feed Support is available for all changes and filters
- I'm already waiting when the first IRC/Jabber bots start to announce sovereignty changes in your external alliance chats.
Corporation:- Changes in the corporation that are being tracked by DOTLAN EveMaps are now stored and available (Description, Logo, Url, CEO, HQ)
- Corporation statistics are now available (memberCount)
Navigation:- Planets in Range / Moons in Range
- Filterable by range: Light years / by number of (gate) jumps
- Filterable by resource type (planet type / moon mineral from DOTLAN Moon Database)
- Jump planner: added number of gate jumps between each cyno, so your cyno pilot knows, how many jumps he has to do.
System:- Added all static DED Complexes (empire and 0.0 regions) from the local cache files (client)
- Added the newly introduced Landmarks from cache files as well (this includes the old COSMOS beacons)
- Added a new overlay filter for the map so you can easily find landmarks close to you. For details check the updated Celestial System pages.
- Updated layout for Celestial Objects: More Icons, DED/Landmarks, Agents and Stations orbiting their respective object.
- Detail pages for each object (Sun/Planet/Moon/Belt) with details about mass, radius, temperature, etc.
- Recent events per system
Outpost:- With the help of cache files and some smaller calculations I've assigned every Station (including Player Build Outposts) their calculated orbit object (planet/moon)
- A lot more details could be retrieved out of the cache files (including the station description), but due to the nature of local cache files, don't expect to get them updated frequently.
Map:- New map info layer have been added
- Each planet type (Temperate, Plasma, Lava, Gas, ...)
- Static DED Complexes(imported through client cache files)
- Landmarks and COSMIC sites (imported through client cache files)
- Regional planet distribution (already announced and live)

Yesterday I deployed some smaller additions and polished some features.- Added the infolayer to all available map formats. For PDF Maps itÆs ?overlay=type The infolayer options are the same like in the current map view
Example: Pure_Blind-Fade-Deklein.pdf?overlay=const - Added a new combined map: Tribute-and-surroundings
- Changed the source for corporation and alliance logos to CCPÆs Image Server.
- Alliance member corporations and a couple other pages are showing the small corporation/alliance logo in the listing.
- The (jump)range tool now allows you to select the maximum number of gates you wanna travel in your sub-capital ship.
- The Live Ticker allows now to filter by Date or Date:Range (in the URL)
For more, check out the blog post. http://evemaps.dotlan.net/blog/2010/07/12/overlay-informations-on-pdf-maps-and-other-stuff/

Would it be possible to have a combined map of Immensea, Detroid, Wicked Creek and Tenerifis? Or something that contains Immensea...
Love your maps by the way.
As I am statistics monkey, would there be a away to see who was the biggest corp/alliance of all time? Held the most stations at one time? Most systems controlled at once? (Without manually searching every date).

I've the hourly data of the last 30 days in my database, after that they'll get purged. For a longer history the data gets summarized per days (from downtime to downtime). The history archive is not available on the page but it's saved so i can do researching or add functionality for a later time.

I thouh it would be my server who had problems :-) Well, maybe we should poke karbowiak and beansman about eve-kill if they've a problem.

Combined maps are mostly ordered work cause it's difficult and costs time. 2-3 regions are easy todo, 4 is something which results in a huge unreadable map, if the map should still fit on a DIN A4 paper/screen. Maybe immensea + the most important surronded constellations would make sense.

I just want to ask if you can enter eve-kill.net without problem. It has been a long time now I can't never enter that site to check out the kills you post on your site (system kills).
I have tried my office network, my home network, and many others with no luck; I also have tried different machines and browsers.

Yeah, I just felt we were left out , but the way Immensea connects to the other regions doesn't make it an easy region to make a combined map of or a priority either, as there is only probably a few of use who would use it anyway. The rest of the combined maps are awesome!

Do it like this

- You want to keep an eye on your movements and positions out-of-game?
- You want to track your movements for a later operation analysis?
- You want to provide your fleet/squad position to the the fleet commander to keep multiple squads in sync or just provide juicy details to your spy master?
- You want to visualize the route of your roaming gang for your after-action-report?
Then the new radar tracking feature is what you want!
After adding DOTLAN EveMaps to your trusted page you can start the tracking functionality. A private/public token will be generated and the page will automatically send your position to DOTLAN EveMaps so you can keep an eye on your position and moves out of game. In addition to your current position your moves will be stored as well. Those moves can shown as list or directly visualized on the maps or the universe map depending on the duration of your roaming.
You only have to keep your browser open/minimized while javascript/ajax will do the rest in the background. You can even continue to surf around. The tracking will continue anywhere on my page.
I know this tracking tool will be useful for both sides: Fleet commanders to keep better track of his fleet and squads and the spy's for better way to update their masters.
Start tracking today
