I quickly added a new fantastic feature for the new SovereigntyStatus API.
http://evemaps.dotlan.net/structures/
This list contains all Sovereignty Blocking units and all Territorial Control Units which are not in an normal state(4). Pretty nice to see where in 12 hours you'll see someone popping up and having sov.

I was wonder why the region maps have the zoom feature on them when they displayed perfectly fine and were clearly readable on every PC I tried to pull them up on, but I can see where it would be useful in the jump planner and universe maps. Maybe this is just my opinion but I thought it was much better navigating the regional maps before with the ability to pan and scroll around the map as desired.
Other than this said modification I've always thought these maps were of the highest quality and you did a great job on them, and it has to be one of the greatest tools out there for EVE.

sonetimes there are People around with Reading problems and/or bad eyes. Those folks would be happy to zoom in I suggest.
Btw in the ingame version the map size gets resized to the browser window size, there you need the zoom function as well (smaller browser windows)

After a few days playing around with CCPÆs new Sovereignty Status API, I think itÆs time for an update. Here we go.- Structure Changes (live) for the last 48 hours (overall), per region or per alliance
- Structure Listing per region or per alliance
- Moved the API Updated to the bottom of the page (too many timestamps)
- Extended the Factionwarfare Live Ticker for the last 48 hours instead 24
- Fixed some bugs with maps and the jumps/npc/shipkill overlay numbers
- a couple of smaller fixes around the world
- Finally I also added a Support Page. Here you can find all informations how to contact me or show me your support.
ThatÆs all for today: Now happy hunting for onlining TCUÆs :-)

Edited by: Takarina on 05/12/2009 17:18:33 You changed the structure page to sort by date and then time instead of by region. This is harder to find TCUs in our region onlining. Can you sort by date and then subsort by region or make it so we can choose the column to sort by.

I can see, if it makes sense to add a special sort (by region) for this page. But it's
Otherwise, just check your region: In the region list you've even a longer history and more details. http://evemaps.dotlan.net/region/Delve/structurechanges http://evemaps.dotlan.net/region/Querious/structurechanges

Edited by: Wollari on 07/12/2009 15:42:50 Well. This was the fastest reaction in API related things ever.
http://www.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=1228297
Quote: We will be soon be removing /map/SovereigntyStatus.xml.aspx API which allows you to see the sovereignty structure status for the universe. We would like to eventually re-release it with restrictions to either the corporation or alliance owning the sovereignty structures so they can get a good overview of the status of their solar systems.
The information provided by this view was far too extensive compared to what is available ingame where you should rely on traditional scouting for this intelligence data. The æfog of warÆ should be maintained here without having a far too revealing view through the API.
http://evemaps.dotlan.net/blog/2009/12/07/api-nerf-incoming/ Well. The API is already down. That means no more updates regarding Sovereignty Structures (and their state) on DOTLAN EveMaps. It was a nice time.

Dotlan is awesome mate, thank you very much.
Just wondering if I just hadn't paid enough attention or it has changed but it appears that now there is more system history.
For example 9-4 in Cloud Ring I am sure that the history only went back as far as Unnatural Selection from the middle of 2008 but now the history goes back as far as YouWhat in March 2007. And G-Q5JU in Period Basis shows Daisho and Evoke as having held the system but before it just showed Executive Outcomes.
If there is more history, is this because of of the Dominion changes to the API? So you are getting more Data from CCP?
Another thing, (I'm not sure if it does it and I haven't found the button) but looking at a region map you can use the arrow button to go back a day at a time to see the sovereignty changes, can you type in date or drop a calendar down to go back weeks/months/years?
Also the combined maps, have you thought about doing a map of Esoteria and Paragon Soul? |

Well i didn't get any data from CCP expect the API Stuff. Most of the history data are collected and archived API XML Files from people who gave them to me for importing them. I think my history starts now somewhere in Mid 2007. If anybody has older API/XML data i can try and import those.

Well, i could add this on my long todo list but atm i'm just fine with editing the URL *G* Yeah i know it's not the most userfriendly interface for that.

I think adding it to the to do list would be fantastic but I'm probably the only one who would use it cos I love seeing the history of a region, so there probably isn't much point.
As for the history, its cool that you are getting more data from people, its nice to see who has held what and the changes that happen (I'm a bit of Eve history buff) but there cant be many people who have kept that data for that long.
I wonder if CCP keep data like that?! And if they did whether they would share it?!

It would be interesting if we could see how the "sovereignty density" has changed over time in 0.0 overall and individual regions, particulary comparing pre and post dominion.
Great site, thanks for your work.

Can you give me an example what you like to have as outpot? Right now I don't know what do you really expect as "sovereignty density" result

I was thinking a graph showing a percentage of 0.0 (or region) that has been claimed on one axis and time on the other axis.
Pre-dominion probably close to 100% of 0.0 systems where claimed by an alliance, but in the last few weeks systems have been abandoned en-mass, there doesnt seem to be an easy way to see how significant this is in the overall picture.
EDIT: also it might be useful to show how strong the rental market is, if regions that have traditionally been rented out have high occupancy (or density) the graph would show thatdue to its historical comparison.

Just thought I'd bring this up: your alternate skins are bugged, most importantly, the default skin for the ingame browser. They don't seem to update any of the api data(npc kills, jumps, pod/ship losses) on the maps themselves whatsoever....Kinda irksome, especially since they look wicked kool .

Well strange. The dynamic data is stored in a Javascript file. As soon as the data changes the URL changes too (to force the browser to reload the script contents).
Until now I didn't saw any problems with this. But i may change this in favor to a Ajax call instead of js files. We'll see. I'll keep an eye on this.

I have a modest request, which may have even already been suggested, but I'll throw it out anyway. How hard would it be to add a tab to the navigation panel going to a page that shows the statistics for alliance/corp views. Your site is one of the higher used EVE related sites now I'm sure, and it would be a cool little feature to see who everyone is buzzing about and investigating/checking up on throughout the month.
Basically just a big table listing alliances and or corps by a page view count.
Would anyone else be interested in seeing those sort of things?

Well, atm i don't count the single page counts per alliance/corp. Only the webserver log + google analytics. But perhabs I can add something like that. I'll add this to my list of ideas and sign off for my vacation :-) see you in 2 weeks.

Love the navigation tools, but what would be really nice is on the flat regional maps it would be great to have a MAP INFO LAYER option of Range in LY from the selected system. Would that be possible? Your signature has been proven to be the cause of node crashes and immense lag. -Kreul Intentions |
