Im having the same issues since Crucible 1.5 after 2-5 hours of playing I get strange graphic issues like these including: Invisible stations only the lights on them visible, invisible ships with only thrusters visible, weird gate and jumping effects and the list goes on. I know it cant be my system because If I play Battlefield 3 for longer of periods of time maxed out and no other graphic issues in any other game why only this one? A client restart always fixes the problem and returns everything to normal for 2-5 hours then it bugs up again so I safe up quit game, play again and everything is normal for the next 2-5 hours. I really do hope CCP is aware of this and I know of other users having the same problems, hopefully a dev will come and shed some light on this situation otherwise I have my fingers crossed for the next patch. I have also tried full cache cleans, setting cleans, repair tools, updated graphic drivers, defrags, and re-installs to no success either. All I could say the game didnt do any of this till that patch and if it is'nt that patch then one more back All I know is when Crucible released everything was fine and then it patched to 1.5 now I have problems. |

I am as well getting strange graphics. It happens in no other game other than Eve I have stress tested my graphics card and memory and cleared the cache before anyone suggests this. Graphic Engine problem?
Anyway guess what ship this is: http://img857.imageshack.us/img857/2273/20120331172907.png

Had the same issue today - first time ever. Seemed like effects were somehow "overscaled". Restarting the client fixed it. (Nvidia GeForce GTX-295 with latest drivers/Windows 7 x64) Looking for more thoughts? Read my blog or follow me on Twitter. |

I have been having some of these problems for a while, but my real big gripe with Crucible 1.5 is I can't run three clients now at once without my RAM and CPU going through the roof. That is a recent issue, I have never had many problems at all running 3 clients (except fps goes down but I'm mining and crap so who cares) with the exception of the Incarna release, which this kind of feels like. I know I need some more RAM, but for weeks the game has been unplayable for me if I want to do mining or run support toons in sleeper sites in WH, etc. Thinking of cancelling subs again tbh. Crucible performance issues=Lame CCP. |

I also still get the glitch where any ship I am flying will sometimes just turn into a cloaked Harby when jumping through a gate, then stay that way until I restart. LOL. |

I can confirm these glitches. I also get screen flashes when arriving somewhere. Half screen, sometimes with a dot pattern, always white I'd say. Happens a lot after getting into a system. Didn't happen before one of the patches. My GPU should be stable, and these glitches always happen when arriving somewhere. |

I had this issue too, at first I thought it was cause of my SSDs I just installed somehow because it didn't happen till after I did that on a fresh install of windows with them installed. Although I guess its more likely the last patch that did it. The errors didn't start for me until we had a small gang fight and then afterwards they got progressively worse until I had to dock up and restart my client.

Same issues here.
Also on Windows 7 x64 (maybe in indication of the problem?), hardware is recent and capable of dealing with EVE in max settings.
Happens quite a bit on my character in station as well. Body parts missing, clothes missing, etc.
I'd have a look at the gfx engine. Must be something odd going on there. |

Can some devs give an indication whether this is being looked at or not? Currently, eve is unusable and I dare not PvP back with our old corp in the current state. Having eve BSOD the machine or lock up the driver for half a minute is not something that encourages play. I guess I can get a refund if the game is not playable?

I can confirm gates/stations taking a few seconds to load. Similar to what post #2 says, when I land on a station after warp , the station is invisible except for the lights; it looks like about 6 flashlights that are turned on are floating in space.
Same when I un-dock, station is invisible but when I click on space, the station snaps back into view like normal.
I don't get the ball of white though like in the screenshots being posted here

Hi!
We have looked at this issue for quite some while and we currently assume, that this is caused by running out of memory for creating new textures (as far as I understood it - it is not really my area of expertise). We further assume, that these graphical issues happen now, when in earlier times the client just crashed (as it failed to allocate more memory). At the moment we are not seeing any easy solution for it, but we will continue to investigate it
Workarounds: a) Reduce your graphic settings b) Restart your client, if you are starting getting problems
Btw: It might be a very good idea to reduce your anti-aliasing setting, if it is set to high. This setting was not working correctly in earlier earlier releases and it is fixed now, which also causes a significantly higher video memory usage
Please reply to this thread and / or write bugreports with further details, if you find / know anything, which might help us to improve (or even fix) this problem. CCP Habakuk | EVE Quality Assurance | Team Gridlock Writing bug reports | Mass tests

I can think of one very easy solution...Fix the GORAM memory leak that is out of control since Crucible launched. Period.
Or, i don't know, maybe don't expect every one of your tens of thousands of customers to run out to electronics store every 3 months when the latest and greatest hardware comes out, b/c thats the only way to run a stable Eve client these days.

This stuff is still happening for my client, after about I think 2 or 3 hours of playing the game with all the settings on HIGH.
I have a GTX570 Card.
Only fix that I have working is putting everything on low, If time permits I may start going thru one by one of the graphics options and seeing which are causing the issue.
So it went from when Warping thru a GATE the Client use to crash after a couple of hours.... to now Warping / Undocking the graphics bugg out and having to restart client.

This is exactly the same nehaviour I get. Aggro means lag til it even freezes, while the other client is not freezing up at all. The more NPC's are killed (and thus aggro gets less) the less lagg I experience. As I posted in another thread when I get so much aggro my (Grpahics) memory is almost all in use (seen on MSI afterburner displayed on G15 LCD). |

I am also experiencing some weird gfx errors. for instance when i am dual boxing and mining, itll run super awesome, that is untill i warp of the chars to the PoS - when the PoS shield has to be loaded, the game will slow to like 2 fps and display ridiculous gfx errors untill it has finished loading. It's near impossible to take a screenshot of :/ (trust me have tried)
ive got a pretty beefy machine core i7 2600k 8gb ram gtx 580 (3gb model)
The client never uses all my ram, nor my vRam - so im pretty sure its not a problem on my end
You did a great job fixing bugs this xmas CCP - now how about fixing the client itself? Maybe start by implementing proper vsync and/or fixing memory leaks? :P |

Same problems here as everyone else is experiencing
1. After a certain amount of time, usually after an undock or stargate jump, graphical glitches 2. Just now got a "tan" "sandy" colored space 3. Planets look different, like they lost all shading effects and they're orange and white 4. The jumping stargate animation bubble looks strange and poorly shaded 5. Sun doesn't have any effect before it used to blind me 6. Starmap is completely black with only white dots, where normally i get all the colored lines and colored dots
I can fix it with a client restart but that's not a long term solution. I just noticed my video card fan spin up way beyond it's normal speed when i entered captains quarters, I have it set to vsync so it never gets that high...

All these grafix glitches and dropouts started occuring for me after the last major Crucible update and have intensified exponentialy since the Escalation update. Escalation indead. I don't think it's a video memory problem as Dev says because it can happen to me as soon as I first login after a fresh reboot. I have even resorted to adjusting the ingame grafix to the lowest possible setting to no avail. Sometimes I even have to restart my client three or four times before it is momentarily stable. But as soon as I exit a station or go through a jump gate then that could be the end of it. Before this last update I had no problems at all running 3 clients on my main computer. But now I'm flat out running one client for a short period before a restart. I can't mine, I can't mission, I can't go anywhere. This is absolutely appalling and disgraceful. The one common theme that keeps coming up in most of the posts here is 64bit Windows. I can confirm that this is the likely problem as I run one of my toons on my laptop which has 32bit Windows Vista and there is no problem at all. The way things are Eve is almost unplayable for me at the moment and I have been playing for four and a half years. Very sad that CCP don't seem to be too interested in fixing this problem. Same here, NVidia or AMD gfx, makes no difference, they both do it. Windows 7 x64 on both machines.
To the dev who replied :
My client didn't crash prior to Crucible; it doesn't crash now; it does display graphical artifacts.
Oh and on Saturday night the tactical overlay had what looked like co-ordinates on it rather than distance markers. Then it turned into a solid white disc and stayed like that.
Its not a memory leak, or if it is then its a new one introduced by Crucible. Its nothing to do with AA as I don't run it for Eve anyway.
I'd say that at least a dozen people on the Saturday night roam I was on had the same/similar symptoms.
I suggest you make some sort of effort to fix it rather than implying its always been a problem, which of course it hasn't. |

That big flat shiny thing shouldn't be there: http://i.imgur.com/Ov83a.jpg I keep getting things like that flash on the screen in random places, mostly around the ship. It happens as soon as I log into the game, and I doubt it's because of running out of memory (1024MB shouldn't be filled up so fast?).
The next pictures are all done without moving my ship nor the camera angle, only zooming in and out: http://i.imgur.com/OE5sY.jpg http://i.imgur.com/PRZ0j.jpg http://i.imgur.com/P0rAb.jpg (I'm a saint now? :p) And that's how it should look like: http://i.imgur.com/5QSQv.jpg As I said: there are no objects there, but those random bright surfaces appear.
Those things do not appear when the sun is visible.
It started to happen yesterday. I restarted my PC, EVE and Catalyst Control Centre. I've tried changing all the setting in CCC and EVE and I ran the Eve Repair Tool.

It does not happen on my other 32 bit windows box that has about 1/2 the speed of my 64 bit box.

I got more awesome demos of eve's faulty graphics in Windows 7 64 bit. Today I experienced something I've never even had before which rendered the game completely useless. After docking I hit the "Captain's Quarters" button and my screen turned to indistinguishable lines and horrible shading rendering nothing hardly visible on the screen, I want a refund.

Possible fix
Change your 'optimize settings' to 'Optimize for Quality'. I know it sounds backwards to add a load to your graphics when it's the graphics that are messed up...but it worked for me. I admit things have slowed down for me some but it beats the hell out of watching the display show two different systems at the same time on my screen while my next jump appears as an asteroid belt while my chat window flashes at me.
Hope it helps someone. |

I also can't play eve. I have terrible FPS. The window flickers and then goes black until I boot up in windowed mode.
also on windows 7 64-bit, there is another thread with this, but does anyone else get the issue where they can't start eve in full screen? and then get terrible fps overall recently? I'm running eve at the lowest settings at 25 fps. When I used to get 50 at highest. |

Quote:Response to in game petition: Hi, Please accept out apologies for the inconvenience this issue may be causing. Graphics issues are often caused by corrupted cache and settings so we suggest you start by clearing your cache and settings folders. Here is an article that describes in details how this is done: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Clearing_the_cache_and_settingsIf this doesn't help in your case, please refer to the following article on common graphics issues and solutions: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Graphics_Problems#Graphics_problemsIf neither of these articles is of help or you have already tried out the steps described there, please reply to this petition again and we will investigate the matter further. When doing so, please remember to attach a DxDiag file to the petition if you have not done so already. Here is an article that explains how this is done: http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/DxDiag
I'm going to follow these instructions the gm gave me. Step one clear cache and settings ingame and in the operating system.
1. I cleared everything in game, cache and settings, restated the client twice. 2. I've located the folder %LOCALAPPDATA%\CCP\EVE and renamed it to EVE1
Step two checked the graphical problems wiki 1. I have up to date drivers from nvidia and I know they are 100% i never have shutdowns or random crashes and no other games installed will give me any trouble. 2. I have tried updating and re-installing directx. 3. This machine is completely 100% factory default clock speeds, zero overclocking. 4. I'm not having heat issue, I have applications that read temperatures and they are in line. 5. I recently performed maintenance and cleaned all the dust bunnies out of there. 6. I am the only person that uses this computer, nobody else has access, it has the latest windows 7 updates (licensed copy) latest antivirus definitions, and serves only one purpose, to game on and do some email. I don't run anything in the background that can cause any interference. 7. Seeing that this isn't an isolated issue, I suggest prioritizing this matter immediately.
I'm a computer enthusiast and build my own computers, and I maintain them very well. I keep my drivers current. I perform periodic maintenance. I open the case and blow the dust out every couple months with a compressor. I been doing this for years, I can tell there's something wrong with the client software, because I'm positive there's nothing wrong with my hardware. Balls' in your court CCP, please respond, help solve this. |

Glad to see you're working on it, it has indeed been an issue for quite a while. I don't use anti-aliasing and have up to now run on lowest graphics settings. I'm running a single client, previously ran four in window mode, and wanted to experience better graphics for a change. I've resigned to restarting the client after an hour or two, depending on when issues have started to crop up. I hope you find a fix for this soon.

Preset Interval - Interval one Effects - all on Misc - Use LOD/ Sun is Occluded by Objects on Character creation settings - physically simulated cloth and hair on, texture med Graphic Content Settings- Load station environment Anti alias Disabled Post processing Low Shader quality High Texture Quality High LOD Quality High Shadow Quality Low Interior effects Medium Interior Shader quality Low
These are the settings I got after cleaning cache and settings in game and in windows, and so far it's been smooth. |

Some of the screenshots posted here looks like the problem I had. Using my ATI HD 5800 I had no problems, but when I used the ATi HD2400 I just installed to run the second monitor, i had a lot of glitches.
Turned out the problem was the new ATI drivers (12.4). Downgrading to 12.3 fixed the problem. (https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1246631#post1246631)
I don't think this will fix all af your problems, but some of you might "think" you have the memory problem, while in fact you have a driver problem, so its worth a shot. |

When this occures to me; windows resource monitor says that Eve (one client) is using 1,8gb of memory (-which leads absolutely no free memory). For me, rebooting the client doesn't always help. but clearing the cache helps. Tried to get this on logserver, but it ofcourse happens when i'm not running it. |

Experienced this issue and had no idea why it was doing this, was after about 2-3 hours of playing. Got into a frigate fight and was losing so started hitting warp to celestial rapidly. Client subsequently locked up and screen turned white and crashed which caused me to lose my pod. Under any other circumstances I would have never lost the pod. Still awaiting petition response after several days and a rapid initial denial that the client is FUBAR at the moment. I will be using this dev response as it admits the client is getting loaded and ready to crash due to unresolved issues out of my control. The advantage of a bad memory is that one can enjoy the same good things for the first time several times.

Thing is that im pretty sure its not out of memory. I was monitoring the memory usage and it only gets up to about 900. I got 2gb in vram and about 8gb on RAM. And the thing is it mostly happens only on one client not on the other when you have several open.
These random errors happen more often in Linux for me but they happen there aswell. I noticed that it happens more often if you have the client open for prolonged times.
For me the first sign is flashing shadows then something messes up like Torp Effecs or station texture then on testserver using ship preview and doing screenshots i noticed that my fps would drop to 0 freeze then go up again, guessing it would be out of memory did not check my usage then. But the screenshots would never be good.
Same thing happens for me on linux, it starts out the same but then station environment is not loaded but few lights and ship. Then it gives me this
Sometimes it just freezes everything but the UI.
All this above needs a restart of the client. On linux i need a reboot to remove the colorstuff so im guessing there is some kind of memory leak there.
All this after cruciable 1.5 update if I remember correctly. Features & Ideas Tag shortcuts - Make an FC enjoy his position more! Overview - Show fleet members only! |

I hesitate to mention this issue because I'm rather enjoy this little cluster of bugs but...
During recustomization if you toggle clothes off to sculpt, then try to toggle them back on... well, the clothes don't come back. Better, the CC lets you through to the portrait taking portion: http://i.imgur.com/Gm1Hu.jpg
Sadly, while the CC lets you take the portrait that way, and the local character images show that way, the server-side render puts your clothes back on.
Also of note is that screen caps aren't working properly (as the screen shot shows). I don't mind at all if this isn't fixed for a while... though getting proper screen shots of it would be nice...
Other notes: Applied new skin tone as well. |

Bubbles are the only common factor I can see.
You get bubbles when you :
- Jump through a gate - Cyno somewhere - Use a dictor - Anchor mobile [size] Warp disruptors
If you WARP at any time, with your camera near a bubble (looking at or just poking it head out), your screen goes white, you lag out for a couple of seconds and then back to normal as if nothing happened.
Very frustrating when warping on top of a small ship with your sabre as they've left their location by the time you regain control.
Recommend you go warping around a gate camp with various size bubbles up (perhaps in a dictor) to witness the issue. Restarting the client doesn't fix it for long. ---- CONCORD arrested two n00bs yesterday, one was drinking battery acid, the other was eating fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off. |

For me, going into windowed mode will cause problems with textures not loading (plenty of RAM onboard and on GPU), especially with strut-around-in-station mode enabled - only this pink lightmap texture loads on my character (the environment textures are ok though). So yeah, if anyone is experiencing this brand of texture problem, try going true fullscreen until they fix the issue. |

Sometimes when i undock the station seems to be flickering. (maybe a lighting effect conflict?) The funny thing is is that when i pan the camera away and then pan it back it is solved strangly enough.
I installed the latest DirectX and drivers for all the hardware.
When i encounter the problem again ill edit this post and include a picture. |

Bump.
Same problem as all above here - issue largely began after the Inferno upgrade for me. I won't bother you with repetitive screenshots of 1/2 screen freezes, white-light blobs, chat-wallet-LOD windows that flash and disappear, symbols that change completely in the LOD, etc. Renders the EVE client completely unplayable beyond updating training and market orders.
New windows 7 - 64 bit Toshiba laptop purchased in January 2012. No other programs running in the background, all drivers and system updates are current, DirectX diagnostic concluded no problems, cache cleared, EVE client reinstalled (fixed the problem for a morning)... petition pending with no resolution in sight.
Extremely frustrating as I hate paying for a game I am unable to play.
CCP, please push out a fix for this bug pronto. |
