Assuming you ever were in a position to lose a ship, or maybe are in a position where you lose ships constantly ? Of course, the value of the ship/gear could have a huge influence too, or maybe that value compared to the total wealth you have, percentually ?
Me... I tend to fly relatively cheap ships to begin with, and I'm not very often in the position where I would risk losing one that is worth a noticeable percentage of my wealth... as a consequence, I believe my worst verbal outburst so far went something like "whoops... gatecamp, guys, don't jump... running back for the gate... webbed... gonna' die here, not gonna' make it... yup, dead. Damn, there goes the +2 set too... Oh well..."
How about you ?

I've got a few hundred mill, and even with the skills for them I don't generally feel comfortable flying CSs and HACs...worst I lost was a rigged Arazu worth about 110m, and I just got mopey for a bit.
I'm quite happy losing t1 cruisers, t2 frigs, and battlecruisers in decent combat situations. Pew pew!

I'm actually one of those nut jobs that honestly contemplates throwing my monitor out the window following a heavy loss.
However I'm losing far fewer ships as I gain experience and wisdom. Seems I typically lose ships now to alcohol consumption, and my goodness you don't want to be in the same room as me when that happens.

I used to get very upset... I was really, really, really bad at PvP then (now I'm just really bad). Being really*3 bad, I didn't always understand what I'd done wrong or how I'd died. The frustration was (to me) epic.
Now, though, I've learned a lot and I usually know I'm going to die before it actually happens, so I'm sort of already resigned to it when it does... so instead of being like "WTF GD MF SOB", I'm more like... "meh... gf" if it was a gf... if it was just a gank/gatecamp situation like you describe in the OP, I don't say much at all... just kinda let out a long, drawn out sigh, calm down and get my new clone sorted out.
I love this game.

I usually don't mind but the other day I went and bought a Crusader. I am poor so fully fitting a 'sader with T2 cost me over 20mil ISK and is a pretty significant cost. One hour later I had lost it... to a pair of RIFTERS. I was so ****ing mad I almost kicked my dog and smashed my monitor on the wall. I got over it though :)

i only get annoyed when i do something stupid that gets me killed. when it's a good fight - or at least a fun fight - i usually think the loss was worth it, but when i think i should be ok - and then i'm not because i didn't do what i KNEW i should do - i get really frustrated with myself and will often begin several minutes of flagellation and verbal self-abuse that usually ends in tears with me pointing in the mirror and whispering: "that's the man, officer."
a few weeks ago i actually lost a ship - and a T2-fitted Domi, at that - in PvE for the first time in as long as i can remember, and that was purely because i was half-asleep and wasn't paying attention to what i was doing.
i almost quit EVE then and there out of shame and humilation.
edited to add: i've never gotten verbally abusive to another player, by the by, although i have to admit that a few people have annoyed and frustrated me with smack-talk and/or generally immature behaviour and i have defintely wanted to be abusive, but hey, it's a video-game and they're acting like tools because the internet is there to protect them, so what's the point?

agreed - i've been pvp'ing since the mid/late 90's in various games and this is the only one that, regularly, gets my heart pounding and my pulse thudding in my ears. there's a truly visceral element to PvP in EVE that i've never found anywhere else.

Usually the swearing comes when I find myself in a position that I'm likeley to lose a ship. By the time it happens, I've resigned myself to it. I may log off for a bit though depending on what I lost, and how stupid I was being at the time.

My worst loss was a sacrilege fitted out with about 600m in faction gear. It was a 1v1 setup, but after buying it I got invited to a gang and we got ganked badly 5 minutes later.
I felt somewhat sad for a while, but more just embarassed when I had to post the loss :(

Depends on the loss situation tbh, if say my gang ditches me to die then lots of swearing, but if I pretty much know I'm going to die then meh whatever only a little swearing.
I swear a lot more when say a HIC or interceptor fails to tackle something really easy like a BS/freighter.
I can replace anything I lose quite easily so that has no effect on my swearing :) --

EVE, surprisingly, I take very laid-back when it comes to ship losses. Mainly because if I die it's because of gross stupidity on my part, or the result of a good fight etc.
Not like TF2 or something where some ***** sniper pops you from across the map. Or you miss killing a guy by one bullet. Gets annoying a lot faster. ---

kinda laughed my ass off at one or two losses,
aww **** bounced off the gate on another,
okay lets undock and get back to the pos.... oh shit I was at the pos when I logged (afk gang warp ftl),
guys wtf I lasted like 5 mins against these fools and none of you showed up except for you in a frigate (wtf) and a bc, if like 2 of you showed up in real ships we would have kicked their asses. a wtf mega and geddon, and a drake at the top of the killmail
then there was a wtf dude, you said there was a tempest and a cerb, there was also a falcon a geddon, and some interceptors. (he got caught by the tempest and cerb, asked for some help, I show up start ripping the tempest a new one falcon missed a few cycles, falcon then gets me 4-5 times in a row I go kaboom. and the guy I show up to help warped out when the tempest warped out, and said well it would have been more expensive for me to lose my arby launchers than for you to lose your geddon. we also lost an apoc that came to help)

who is actually going to post in a thread if the response would make them look sad or pathetic?
my first podding I let loose a torrent of curses
but then it "was" ginger magician who killed me, and my first rupture XD that day
lately, well I don't fly what i can't afford to lose, and the only time it is irritating is when it "shouldn't have happened, ie client crashes and i end up dead when i log in again XD

Heh, good thread.
I don't anymore. Used to be something that made me log-off and not come near the game for a few days, but it's just par for the course, now. Ofc, there are some ships I've got some nice mods on that I would still get a little annoyed at losing, but not to the point of anger anymore.

I lose ships pretty consistently, but I don't get angry at all.
If I were to make a huge dumb mistake, like undocking a carrier into a bubble and finding out that i slide right out of docking range for them, I might get a bit annoyed at myself though. Hasn't happened yet though.
90 % of PVP is about not making dumb mistakes, so when you lose your ship it's usually because the other guy(s) bested you, and then GF's are in place.

Most losses only mildly disappoint me.
Losses due to the choices of fleet members put a chip on my shoulder for a few days.
Losses due to gatecamps, however, have made me rather embarrassingly angry twice. I broke a countertop in my kitchen over one of them. I'm a tiny person at 5'7" and 100 lbs, so it's impressive if I can break a pencil, let alone a countertop. Arrange for me to lose more of my most valuable ships to Nyxes (or would the plural be Nyktes?) gatecamping 0.4 in Sinq Laison and Essence, and maybe I could compete in the Olympics. __________________________________________________ 'The illiterate of this century are not those who cannot read and write; but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.' |

The only time I got angry at a ship loss was the time I was flying with some blues looking for enemies to kill and a wartarget shows up for the second time (he had gotten away the first time in Amamake or Gultratren or something).
Now mind you, this wasn't my wartarget but I thought: 'Yeah it's all good, Ossogur's a 0.4 system, she'll be right', and not wanting to see the ass end of this guy again, I hit the the point and all guns as I lock him.
Next thing I know my shields are gone... followed by my armor.. (and I'm thinking wtf? how could he be hitting me with that much dps?) and you know the rest... bye bye Tempest. Ossogur is a 0.5 system and I was concorded
I was so embarrassed.. and was seething as I waited for my global timer to expire in station, thinking of all those that had witnessed my dumbass get himself destroyed, laughing to themselves while they looted and salvaged my wreck ( I'm my own worst enemy sometimes ).
I find it quite funny now.. but at the time I was inconsolable

When I got ganked in Tama I was like "Wait wha.. oh right Todaki. *Goes to corp* HAY GUYZ I JUST GOT PODDED"
After that I bought a Raven, Full complement of implants and farmed level 4s.
Thanks Tama Gank-Squad!
In reality I ran a few level 4s, then bought a BlasterRax for sweet revenge... On some Miners.

I've lost upwards of 10 battleships, a few battlecruisers, innumberable frigs and cruisers. Worst loss was a faction fitted (not extremely good, but still, ouch), rigged battleship, and couldn't recover the wreck. That one hurt.
At this point I just go buy another one, kit it, and jump in.
Though I haven't lost anything recently (hardly playing, so it doesn't count).

It depends totally on the situation for me, when I lost my 1st mega i took to my bed for days..
After that it got easier and easier.
Now though, if its a good fight i will congratulate in local, and not mind.. but if ive been slapped and never stood a chance and the aggressors lord it up. I will say nothing in local, but will be sitting seething imagining ways to bring about their down fall.. which of course never happens.

I've lost a few Tempests in my time (embarrassingly they tend to get lost to missions rather than PvP) and I can't really get upset because it's almost always my fault for doing something stupid or if it's lag then I petition.
My most memorable loss was many years ago when I had my first shiny Rupture that had taken me a fair few weeks to save and train for... I met m00 on my way to rat in Aununen... I was shaking throughout the 30 second battle (that felt like it was happening in slow motions) and was not a happy bunny afterwards.
I needed a week to cool off after that one! Angelice Infinity Enterprises

My last loss was when I just got back into eve after a month long break 15 min in and I lose my myrm to a roaming gang and get podkilled with an out of date clone (didn't think to check that after a month my sp would be over the limit).
Think I just said "Yep...yeah, good old EvE." It's funny this game has some of the harshest penalties for dieing yet most of us just don't care much at all when we get blown up. Guess that's what happens when you accept that your ship is an explosion waiting to happen.

I don't swear at losing ships. If I'm in a gang op (so therefore on vent, I like to turn on music instead if I'm soloing), you'll hear me saying "Going down" with the subsequent "I'm dead." or something like that to notify people I'm out of the fight.
Occasionally I get annoyed if it's someone else's fault, but I generally don't bother people about it. I fly cheap at any rate, so losing 30-40M out of 3B doesn't really begin to dent the wallet.
I remember back when I was relatively new to piracy, losses used to hurt more (because I wasn't as cheap as I am now, and I had less financial buffer to take losses), but I don't recall swearing over ship losses. I was actually fascinated when I lost my first ship to a gatecamp

As a taranis pilot I'm more shocked when I DON'T die, but the only frustrating thing to me about losing a ship is losing it to that ever-present third party to any engagement: the lag monster. Which is frustrating for the reason that you know you could have done better if only there wasn't 30 second module lag holding you back.

If it's because of my own stupidity, such as going for that one last wreck, instead of heading for the gate, then I get insanely annoyed. Otherwise, most of the fights I pick are deliberately hard since I like to test my own skill instead of gankgankgank. Sometimes it works out, and you feel awesome for beating the odds, other times it doesn't but I don't feel bad, since I know it was a tough fight.

soon as first volley lands, it's too late to curse, and it's a sort of zen-like calm... to the point of, for example, recently sitting talking with corp who were elsewhere, whilst tanking the people who'd jumped me, knowing I did'nt quite have the DPS to nail them all solo, and did'nt have the cap charges to keep tanking more than 15mins or so.

I did loose an Alliance mates fully rigged Salvage Destroyer back when I was an ultra noob and I said hey you can hve my destroyer to replace it. A few weeks later I saw the Killboard with the fittings and the prices of the rigs and I was oo F*uck balls, boy did I apologize after that. Lucky the guy was cool with it. A few months later someone in corp goes hey Slade where are you at, I told them and they said why is there one of your wrecks out here and it took me a few minutes to realize that my buddy did not change the name of my destroyer and it finally bit the dust also.

Pretty sanguine about it.
I normally am more concerned with my own performance than the other involved parties.
If they did something clever I normally congratulate them on it.
If I did something especially dumb I normally take a break so as to avoid losing another ship in a dumb fashion.
Even mistakes don't bother me that much if there's a learning experience in there.

I got upset when i lost my first BS ( was a Rokh and thats pretty much my favourite ship), but only because it was my own fault. I was ratting in 0.0 and didnt looka t the local channel. I wanted to head back to the system where the corps HQ was and jumped right into roaming enemys who just had arrived on the other side of the gate.
Now i just say "oh noez now i gotta get a new one" or something like that because i actually dont care much about losing a virtual spaceship. and since i can afford it and always have some other ships in my hangar it doesnt matter anyways. I only lost three ships in pvp in the last year so i dont belong to the ppl who lose a lot of ships. ---------------------------------------

Usually I know when I'm about to lose a ship and have already made my peace with it, so I'll maybe utter a silent "aw crap" or something. Like when I was gangwarped over 90AU into a fleet of hostiles... ah well, if I had some fun before my ship goes pop I usually don't mind.
However if it's thanks to my own stupidity (the infamous last can/wreck) or just sheer random bad luck, then I do get pretty ****ed and swear out loud. Not over TS tho, I hate people who do that, "going down" is all you'll hear from me there before I throw my headset away and punch the wall :) Of course that too always depends on how much that ship was worth compared to my wallet.

For pretty much any situation it's, "Eff."
a week or so ago in FW I was jumping into resbroko and there was a gate camp, I was in a rupture, when I jumped through I said, "Eff"
I slowboated back to the gate, survived.
Then a couple nights a Ceptor and a Sentinel got my jaguar, "eff"
the next day when I realized I still had my +4's in my cargo hold of that jag, "eff"
Doomsdayed when figthing BoB a bazillion times, "eff"
I get more frustrated at missing out on targets.
My approach to eve is that, no matter what loss you take, even if it breaks you, you can always get isk. Mine veld in high sec, run missions, rat, whatever, you can always get back on your feet.

Normally the caluclator just starts going in my head, figuring if I can replace that setup/ have a replacement/ etc.
The only time I got mouthy, actually got me female trouble for a couple of days. My GF decided that she would mess with me and hit a bunch of keys on the keyboard while I was playing. The problem was I was in the final room of a lv4 in a Sleipner (sp?). Ya, guess who's guns she turned off (which were desperately trying to kill the scrammers that they could barely hit, as my last two drones chipped in) along with half my tank.
I couldn't decide what was worse, the corp on my case for loosing the Sliep I had just bought and fit the previous day to... a mission test, or my GF for the next two days giving me crap for getting way over upset about a ship IG and basicaly screaming in her face that "she was going to f'in kill me, gtf off now!"

last time I lost a ship, it was a gallente shuttle, and it was to NPCs so it wasn't that frustrating. the time before that, though, it was a curse.. and a curse I had *just* fitted... from buying it to losing it, it took only around 20 minutes. at the time of the loss there really wasn't that much I could do about it. webbed, scrambled, drones were WAAY off on some errand of their own making... all I could do was sit there and watch my ship break apart.
I think I might have hammered my hand into the wall, focused on that -more tangible- pain and then carried on.

When it's related to my own stupidity (like when I told a RL friend to warp to my smartbombing Domi right after the fleet 'fix'.... yeah, that was the last time I put a smartbomb on), then the typical reaction is: /facepalm
Edit: and if it's due to PvP, I kinda figure that's the natural progression, you know? Buy new ship, fly to WT, shoot WT, get blown up by WT, buy new ship, fly to WT...

2 years ago, I cussed and moaned and generally was a very poor loser. Doubly so in a couple of really crappy circumstances. Specifically, losing a faction fitted raven while ratting 2 jumps from my alliance HQ system. I got ganked, and NO ONE came to help even thought I was 2 jumps away from over 100 of my alliance and corp mates. I lasted 35 minutes against a Vaga, Raptor, and an AF (not sure which one anymore). Killed the AF too, he was slow to warp. The other two just kept trading scram on me and warping away when my torps removed their shields. It was a great fight actually, but at the time I was so mad at my corp/alliance that I couldn't even speak.

Early on, it bothered me a lot. I wouldn't get verbally abusive at the computer, but I'd have some choice words in game.
I think that changed once and for all when my first carrier was lost. In alliance chat and on a couple shared intel channels, there was a lot of kvetching and complaining going on about people who did or didn't rally effectively to help, so I finally just unloaded on the channel where the most people were in all caps that it was my ship, I paid for it, it was my decision to use it, and it was my responsibility that it was lost without adequate support, and that it was insured and that'd I'd be back in another one in a day. And damned if I wasn't.
Since then (three months ago) I've lost another carrier and a few assorted other ships, and the only one that's bothered me was the one Drake lost to an alliance POS that was not properly configured for alliance use. In the event of an emergency, my ego may be used as a floatation device.

I wasn't even annoyed, except that I had lost my ship by being stupid.

The only time I get ****ed off about a loss was if I did something stupid to cause it, or got screwed over by the server - both instances are pretty rare, thankfully.
Rest of the time, I'm calm and relaxed about it. At the end of the day, its internet spaceships, and if my death achieved the gang's tactical goals or helped to keep a gangmate alive, then its well-worth it.

From all the ships I lost so far (which are a couple Thoraxes, a Deimos, a Curse, a Drake and 2 pods) I reacted as follows:
On 2 occassions of a Thorax lost my last words were "Charge!" (when I charged a Typhoon and on a different location a Megathron solo).
On 1 Thorax lost I said on TS: "shiiiiii***t out of cap and dying" (a Merlin killed my rail thorax because he had a nos and I didn't xD)
On the Drake I didn't react at all, good fight
On the Deimos I was merely saying in corp-chat: "should've seen that coming..." (agressed a ore-thief in a Vexor, and 2 friends warped in and bbq'ed me)
On the Curse: my mind kinda froze for a minute because I agressed a Crow (who was scramming me) and his friends slowly killed me and I was unable to do anything (sorta panic stuff).
But ah well, real cursing never happens for me, sometimes a huge "sigh" will happen though if someone screws up (either me or someone I'm flying / playing with)

I generally PvP in fairly inexpensive ships (insured T1 cruisers/battlecruisers, 'ceptors, assault ships) so ship losses for me aren't horrible.
The only time I ever got really angry over losing a ship in combat was a Megathron that I lost in an Empire War a few months back. We sent a bait Abbadon to the gate, the targets were engaging him, and our gang jumped in to lay the hurt on our targets. I lock up primary, secondary, and our bait ship to throw a remote rep his way. Next thing I know, I'm getting CONCORDed.
Apparently I warp scrambled our bait ship (who was in my alliance but not my corp) and threw a remote rep on my secondary (who I was supposed to be scrambling). DOH!
Although this wasn't a combat loss, I also lost a Rokh once to a contract scam. Totally my fault, taught me a good lesson, and certainly qualifies as a PvP loss. -------------------- "I am hard pressed on my right; my centre is giving way; situation excellent; I am attacking." - Ferdinand Foch at the Battle of the Marne |

iv not got mad at losing any ships per say, i lost a freighter on my alt going though low sec and got pwned, i had a scout, but a cloaked rapier grabbed me long enough for his buddies to come lol i just got a bit damn im dumb kinda thoughts.
i do somtimes get annoyed when were blobbed, for example me and 3 friends were gate camping in sydicate, <allaince> would lose a ship the camp, then we would have say 4 >sameallaince> ships enter, we would be like ahh here comes the trap, they engadge we always like to fight so go for it, then local spikes another 15 all <sameallaince> warp in, when they outnumbered us already lol, thats annoys me and i restrain myself to just say in local "gf but blob much" then just complain on ts :D

I just learned that no amount of research into tactics can really prepare you for that first pirate encounter.
I just lost my first ship to players yesterday. I took a risk and got burned by getting jumped. Strangly, I couldn't be mad about it... as I was the one who took the risk. I sat there at my chair too dumbfounded to think when I got scrambled, forgetting everything I was supposed to do. Then when I realized I was done for, I chuckled to myself "I'm about to lose my first ship".
I regained my senses as I was in hull and had enough focus to warp my pod out just as the ship was coming apart. Gave the pirates a respectful salute and got my ass out of the system.
I had the shakes after-word. I had to hit the punching bag a few times to blow off the excess adrenhiline. I looked back at the situation, figured out what I did wrong, and refitted a new ship. The dent it put in my savings will be a lesson learned. --------- "The first rock thrown again, welcome to hell little saint. Interesting topic.
Over 3 chars I've lost 13 or 14 battleships, some BC's, mostly just T2 fits on all of them. One +4 clone, and a few +3 clones. Some assorted small stuff too, including Qui's three T1 haulers mentioned in another thread on the forums Highlight would be a 500+ mil Domi I guess, or the sweet 400 mil Ishtar that lasted....not very long.
Some of those made me a bit sad for a bit, even angry at the silly mistakes that led to the Ishtar loss. But I'd never loose my temper over something like that. I don't often loose my temper period. Some who know me irl would say never, but that's not true.
A simple typed "crud" is my strongest expression of regret or anger about shiploss to date, I believe.
However, loosing my first "big bucks", i.e. 114mil (iirc) Drake to NPC's on her maiden voyage (was drunk, dozed off), now that ****ed me off. For a long time too. Mainly because it was more then I could afford at the time. Had to sell off almost all of my precious loot to replace it, and even then I got a slightly inferior setup, priced around 90mil iirc. As long as I had that inferior setup, it kept reminding me of my blunder, I guess that's why it took a while to get over it.
I still mention that loss whenever the opportunity to do so arises, either as some odd form of selfpunishment or, I dunno...therapy But never talked about it outside EveO community. Didn't shout or swear either, not out loud at least. Considered quitting, but not for long.
I have seriously lost my temper over a computer game once though. Stayed ****ed off for three days, either sulking or fretting about my mistake. Enough so that my then gf demanded I give up simracing all together, something about my reaction not being "normal" or "healthy". Sheesh.
She never did understand it's all about excerted effort and the expectations of the "fruits of that labour". Whether the competition is irl or on the computer doesn't matter in the least. Many don't get that.
It was towards the end of a GTR2 league season, which hadn't really gone my way, not according to my own expectations at least. But in this race I was nevertheless in a position to beat one of my own longtime simracing "heroes", after more then a year of trying. Despite dropping down through the field in the beginning, I managed to put myself in a very strong position towards the end of the 120 minute race. Had a decent lead, but because I had wasted my tires getting that lead he was catching up. I was convinced I had it covered, that a goal I'd set myself almost at the beginning was going to be reached. That I was finally, by my own standards and opinion, going to "succeed" at this particular game, sim or hobby, whatever you want to call it.
Pride precedes a fall, and so I lost focus for an instant, getting too excited at a favorite part of the track, wanting to impress a backmarker I was lapping, but naturally ended up spinning off instead. (this is where the smiley hitting itself with a hammer goes)
That was that. Position lost, victory lost. But that's not what made me mad, even if it's aggravating. The guy was quitting after that season, so I could not ever get another shot at it. Even if he came back now, it wouldn't be the same. Faces change, sim-platform may change, but more importantly, I advance and grade myself differently, and so it would no longer be the achievement it would have been at that time.
That was my chance, my opportunity, my moment. My goal that I had defined for myself. And I totally blew it, by letting an emotion I despise distract me. (vanity, pride)
Neither Eve, nor any other point and click game, can ever come close to that intensity, not for me at least. And so you will never find me swearing at a shiploss.
Yeah, it's a quiet friday night. I'm home with a cold, nothing better to do then ramble on about 'puter games.
TL:DR - I don't get "verbally violent", not over a shiploss at least.

I don't get verbably abusive at all - rather I stew on it trying to work out all the things I did wrong. If I didn't do anything significantly stupid, and I wasn't lagged out, I get over it and move on. If I did make mistakes, probably the case, then I keep grinding over it in my head until I finally manage to let it go. I definitly learn from my mistakes but it is not a pleasant form of learning.
If I lost my ship my to lag, I don't lose alot of ships so the percentage lost to lag is quite high, then I feel very sad and sorry for myself. Like when I lost my Vagabond with a 28k point (for mission busting) to a Hyperion in a belt. Generally my corpmates will cheer me up eventually and I will go back to plotting destruction and mayhem.
In my experiance carebears who have just lost their ship to pirates are likely to be the worst smackers. Especially if you ransom their pods. While I have encountered pirates who smack as bad as carebears their numbers are small compared to the all the carebears pouring out torrents of hate. Real life threats, "I know the CEO of Bob" threats, war dec threats, or just torrents of foul mouthed abuse. We just laughed - never bothered getting people banned. Sadly there was only one time when the promise of a merc corp war dec was followed through on and the mercs were a total dissapointment - leaving after losing two ships for no result. Never found out wtf was going on there.

Most angry I ever got was in an NPCing Raven. Had NPCed for a couple hours and ended up not realizing I had no missiles left. My launchers reloaded and I had 24 in one launcher and 4 in another. Asked a corpmate what local was like in the next system where there was a station and more missiles and he said just one guy that had been sitting there for a while. Jumped in, Pilgrim decloaks on the gate and is at 23km. Scrambles me, then gets out of range. I hit warp again and a nanosecond before I warp, he gets back in range to scram. I send my 28 missiles flying at his drones to no avail. After about 8 minutes of sitting there tanking he gets backup and I end up dying. I felt like I was jammed due to my inability to fight back. I was swaring up a storm on TS, I just couldn't believe how unlucky I could have been. I like pie. |

I hate getting killed when im fighting 3 v 1 and winning against ships that are supposed to completely outclass me ( 2 command ships and 1 hac fighting against one of my myrmidons) and they call in more heavy ships and kill me.
Its not the isk, its not the fact that they already outnumbered me, its the fact that people are so pathetic, that they have to call insane amounts of backup to get a kill sometimes.
Its the fact that blobbing can replace skill if the blob is large enough. Thats about the only thing that irritates me.
So in other words, I get ****ed off if I die to an unskilled pilot. __________________________________________ When Will I be able to post again ? 13 days, 23 hours, 55 minutes, 36 seconds |

It depends upon the circumstances. If the ship is brand new, then I'll be really angry. If the ship is old and has paid for itself in missions, loot, pvp kills, or simply surviving several ops, then I'm not so angry.
If I've lost it to a good fight, then I'm not angry. If I've lost it to some bullshit whereas I couldn't fight back (ewar, ninjagank, etc), then I'm angry.
But generally, it depends on two things: if I had fun in it while getting it blown up and if I can afford to replace it, then I'm happy. If either of those aren't the case, then I'm not happy.

Oh, yeah, that one is pretty nasty. But also nasty is when you drop sentry drones (I had a brief stint of Dominix-L4-piloting before I went back to the Drake then NH) and start moving accidentally, and when you realize what's going on you're 30-40 km away from your sentries, you don't have an AB, and the next reinforcement wave just arrived and it's targetting your sentries

i usually swear a bit. i dont like dying. example from today, i let my sec status get below -2.0, and i was running through empire on autopilot hauling some crap for a courier mission. the stupid agent was giving me crap missions and i couldnt reject another so i was running the courier in hopes of getting a good sec status mission. anyway:
i look over as my hauler hits warp its webbed.. i consider someone tried to gank me. then as im landing on the gate i noticed i was in a 1.0 system.. and my sec status was -2.2 still.. corp chat looked like: me: wtf me: oh shit me: f_ck! me: i just autopiloted through a 1.0 system and got a T2 fit hauler blown up with my courier mission crap in it. F_CK! corpmate: LOL that was great me: =( *sulks back in a shuttle to reject the mission and take the standing hit*
lost like 8-10 T2 mods on that hauler lmao... oh the joys of forgetting about sec status and not paying attention.
theres also the classic "i was in warp and got blown up" then noticing your logs show 2 different people shot you, and having 5 different people show up on the kill mail.... while you were in warp. the logs showed nothing in that situation
there was much swearing after that loss.

Whenever I lose a ship, PvP or PvE, it's always a amatter of 15 to 30 seconds of knowing I'm a bout to pop. Mentally going all "warp you piece of ****!" or stuff like that and then when the ship pops a simple, short, not too loud "s***".

If small gang pvp I congrats the person who killed me and get back to station and pop into another ship. Some times I get up and go get a Dr.Pepper because of the time it takes to load the station. Then again when you started out in tackling frigates over two years ago and you learned that losing a ship is something that normally doesn't matter it changes your perspective. Also having 2-3 fits of the ship in the hanger helps.

First time I lost a ship I cried a bit, even though it was cheap. it was my second day playing. ever. cloning didn't help. that stung.
second time, I got slightly bitter but shrugged after having a few drinks
third time it was because of my own stupidity
fourth time i was webbed and jammed, and inable to get away anyway. it was quick and painless, even though a bit harsh because of the situation.
i doubt next time ill blink, but may still have that bitter i want revenge feeling. ----

i used to be one of those dirtbag hobo pvpers, which made it suck a lot to lose something expensive. Now that i've got a few isk in the bank, i don't mind at all. although whenever i run out of isk i'll probably quit eve, tbh. :)
...call me a masochist, but part of me actually wants to fly around in a rigged faction fit kronos just for the experience of eventually having it go boom. might be one of those personal growth experiences i'm always hearing about...

I dont get angry. I sit back and relax and make some coffee and look at the maket for a new ship.
After about 20min I go outside and start eating baby kittens alive. You guys should try it as it makes you feel a little bit better.

I had one bad loss a while ago, I lost a hyperion. Now it wasn't that I cared too much about it but the people I was fighting were giant smacktards and my internet cut out 3 times once when a raven was in 10% struc. Me vs. Raven then they undocked nidhuggor and some other crap that loss ****ed me off for a few hours at least. On top of all that they accused me of trying to logoffski.

THAT ****ed me off, especially since I set my alarm clock for 6am on a Sunday to be a part of it. But generally, I'm like, 'whoops, too eager to decloak again *sigh*', whine about it in corp chat for a couple of minutes and then get over it.

I usually just tell myself that I'm not allowed to make that stupid mistake again, and get on with playing the game.
I even cancelled my account at one point because I found it was too hard to recoup the losses from my silly mistakes (just because the gate wasn't camped two hours ago when I ran the last mission in that system, doesn't make the game safe for this mission).
Getting upset is a waste of effort that could have been spent earlier avoiding the ship loss, or could be spent now farming back the ISK to replace the ship by running level 4 missions in hisec.

Edited by: kor anon on 05/09/2008 19:20:42 I dont usually get ****ed if its a minor loss, or even a fairly major one normally. If I lose a good ship in an awesome fight i am happy for the loss. If I get into a bad fight and lose im usually dissapointed and meh. What really ruffles my feathers is when I do something moronic and causes me to lose a ship, that ****es me off so much when all i can blame is myself. Like a certain engagement where I engaged (while in a HAC) 3 BS and a BC just cos, the pilots were only a couple months old. never again, never again |

How do you guys hold back the urge. God, my rule seems to be if I buy it, I fly it. I mean I understand, because I probably lose my best ship on average 48 hours after I get it! LOL! I inevitably do something dumb with it and have to go get another one.
It doesnt really **** me off though.
This man speaks the truth, same as with me! When i have isk i tend to shop a lot wondering in what way to spend more isk :D then after i have 10 ships to choose from all fully fitted i proceed to blow them all up and collect insurance (where applicable) then i do it all over again..
i mean what is the use of this game if you only fly a freaking T1 cruiser? Sense of risk and general danger increases proportionately with price of ship... to all the people that pass as so calm when they lose a ship, sure you are calm but if it's darn expensive and if you made a stupid mistake and you knew you are making a stupid mistake but did it for the hell of it, then you are silently very mad at yourself or the shit in general :) .. for about 10min.. then you're back in to killing your next ship in a creative way :)
Eve is lovely :)

Only when they pull a dirty trick like logon traps. There's simply no way to know that they've got 2 logistics and 3 recons logged off in system. ;-)
Once the fight goes down, I like to think I'm pretty cool about it. ;-)

I cry like a little girl
Then I imediately fly to my back up ships. And if i get them blown up too, I stick a fork in my eye and wail at the wall for 45 minutes.
............but seriously
I just let it go right then with a sigh of defeat. Always have a trusty backup and tend to lay low for a bit. Revenge doesn't tend to work out for me.

If I'm flying a ship for pvp and it doesn't eventually get blown up I'm disappointed. Isn't that the point, after all? ---
