The Group of VIPs items has a description which reads:
Very important people. Business executives, politicians, diplomats and game designers.
The skill Thermodynamics has this text:
Advanced understanding of the laws of thermodynamics. Allows you to deliberately overheat a ship's modules in order to push them beyond their intended limit. Also gives you the ability to frown in annoyance whenever you hear someone mention a perpetual motion unit. Reduces heat damage by 5% per level.
The Retriever mining barge got a paint job about 10 months ago. It now has yellow. It is now a golden retriever.
EvE has these cute little things like this littered all over the place. They're especially common if you read what your agent says in the mission descriptions. . |

Years ago, I remember finding a mission arc that was full of references to Dr. Strangelove, complete with an NPC called Gen. Turgidson.
Also, look at the initials of the range of target painter modules.
These are just a few of the old ones I remember as a player. There's plenty of others, but you'll have to find them yourself (or just wait for someone to post spoilers...) |

Some of the session change messages are kinda funny.
"Just stepping out to find a bush. Depending on the location of the bush, this might take up to 10 seconds." "You cannot do that in the presence of a jump field. And you know how those jump fields are. Better wait 10 seconds."
Try putting the ship you are in into a trade window. "You cannot trade this ship, as there are people on board." Leave ship, do it again - now it works. So you want to tell me that the several thousand man crew of a battleship evacuated in a few seconds?
Last, look up the description of the Hull Tanking Elite certificate. |

My favourite so far is the humungous space cockroach drones that appear in some missions. When I first saw them I submitted a 'bug' report (of course) and received a reply that "this is a known issue".
I've only seen them twice, on the same lvl4 mission on two different occasions. They do not appear to be there for the whole mission and you have to drag your screen perspective around a bit to get to see them, and even then they easily move in and out of view. You can't lock them or otherwise interact with them.
Clearly others have met these guys (http://i.imgur.com/yK1e1.jpg) and their screenshots are way better than mine.

Oh and theres also a decent collection of trashloot from combat LADAR sites like:
Free Sample - The first one is always free.
Flower Power Powder - Oddly smelling powder presumably used by pirates in some of their more exotic formulas.
The Little Pirate That Could - Inspirational story if there ever was one. Fills every pirate wannabe with pride.
Sweet Leaves - Don't grow too fond of them.
Speedometer - Just how drugged are you?
Seasoned Dandruff - What this has to do with booster manufacturing is anybody's guess.
Pillaging 101 - This informative brochure contains helpful diagrams and elaborate tutorials on how to effectively function as a successful brigand. Key chapters include:
Priority Pillaging GÇô Triage style tactics for post-combat logistics Pursuing Passersby GÇô Why anonymity is more useful than infamy Punishing Pirates GÇô What to do with a drunken crewman early in the morning
This handy guide could turn even the noblest capsuleer into a ruthless raider in just a few short years of night courses.
17 Successful Torture Techniques - You can only wonder about the dedication in filtering the successful techniques from the unsuccessful ones.
Test Bong - A curious device used by pirates to test their own product. Seems heavily used.
And these are just the ones I know of :D |

Cold Turkey (item): "From what little information you can garner the pirates seemed severely afraid of encountering cold turkeys and were researching ways to counter them. Why frozen poultry would frighten space pirates so is anybodies guess."
Synthetic Coffee (item): "This stimulating aromatic drink, made out of dried, roasted and ground seeds, is a particular favorite among scientists and software engineers." |

Confirming that science would grind to a halt without almost-coffee.
My favourite little comedy things in EVE include the Device, the error message when you try to put one Giant Secure Container inside another, and the way that drones playfully ignore what you tell them to do occasionally. "Fools! I'll show them all!"
What do you mean that one's already taken? |
