Edited by: phaux on 25/06/2004 20:01:20 With the new line of elite frigs hitting the market i was just curious as to how you would load em out
screenies of info thanks to rowbin hod -> Minmatar and Caldari covert ops frigs details Amarr and Gallente covert ops frigs details
quick outline of ships -> Buzzard (Caldari)
- Shield 375
Armor 225 Hull 225
Cheetah (Minmatar)
- Shield 200
Armor 275 Hull 375
Helios (Gallente)
- Shield 200
Armor 375 Hull 575
Anathema (Amarr)
- Shield 300
Armor 375 Hull 300
so, how would you go about fitting em?

Helios:
High: 2 named light neutron blasters, using anti-matter of course. Mid: 2 Multispectral targetting jammers, 1 Small Cap Booster w/150 size charges, 1 Webber, 1 warp scrambler. Low: 2 Micro Auxiliary Power Cores and 1 Capacitor Power Relay. And don't forget two attack drones.
It might work for a frigate killer. Just depends on how long it takes to kill the other guy. With the named neutrons hitting for ~140 total every 2.8 seconds it probably would not take long.

Buzzard: High: 2 Launchers of your choice (Rocket/Standard) Covert Ops Cloaking Device
Med: 1 Afterburner or 1 Small Shield Booster t2 2 Racial Jammers 2 Multispec Jammers or 1 Webber + 1 Scrambler
Low: Micro Aux Power Cores/Overdrives/Ballistic Control Systems.
That's going to be my loadout until they implement long range scanners etc...

Not really, as they have about double mass and are therfore pretty slow. (and even slower while cloaked)
I'ld go for a Helios + cloaking device and other neat stuff.

it would be cool if you could use a passive targetter and a ship/cargo scanner while cloaked. Then they'd really fit the covert ops name.
I expect most setups will similar to stiletto setups. Either catchers or jammers with the added bonus of being cloakable.

Actually that would be rather cool, especially if they made a few targetting scanning modules that would allow a cloaked frigate to target and scan ships. _______________

I think the 2 ECM's would be more for breaking the target lock of an intercepter or frigate so you can cloak. As they've said if your targeted you can't cloak. I'd probebly take ECM's for a oh sh*t I'm targeted situation.

I'd take on a buzzard High - 1 cloaking device, 2 rocket launchers Med - 2 multispec ECM's, 3 damps or 1 passive targeter and 2 damps Low - 2 aux power cores.

I wonder if you will be able to toss some fof missiles out while you are cloaked. Turning on the launchers would probably disengage the cloak, but then you just reactivate it and repeat. Anyone know if it might work like that?

Depending how long it takes to disengage, fire, and re-engage the cloak, it could be possible to "quick-cloak", so u can attack then become unseen again, repeat as necessary

Covert Ops -> Electronics Upgrades 5, Race Frigate 5 Cloaking -> Electronics 5 + something else I think, but not a L5.

Question, what is the native sensor strength on the Covert Ops frigs? I know for inty's its like 5, which makes the ecm burst modules a potentially useful getaway-mod for these guys.

i was wondering if the dev's would consider creating "raiding teams" that could be assigned to frigates, especially the covert ops ships. it would be like having a weapon, but you would transport a team of specialists (a model of soldiers in spacesuits that infiltrate the hull of other frigates or battleships) to take over control of the ship. you would have to first damage the ship enough to then drop the teams in to seize the ship. the ship will follow you automatically and you can either sell it, strip it of it's goods, or trash it. you would have to purchase these specialists and they can be in the cargo bay of the ship. please chime in with your opinions and hopefully the dev's might see this and would possible create it.

I had this idea (for the Buzzard):
High
2 * Launchers (Rocket/Standard) 1 * Cloaking Device
Medium
2 * Sensor Dampeners 1 * Abandon Targeting Disruptor 1 * S Booster 1 * Afterburner
Low
2 * Cap Relays
The idea is to make it as un-lockable as possible. The lack of MWD will keep the signature status down, and the dual dampeners and disruptor should make a lock very hard to attain, if not nigh-impossible. Seems little point jamming them really, since anything bigger than a frigate will laugh at you, and you'll have the element of surprise anyway.

Check your R&D agents, since today they have covert ops frigs and 3 types of cloaking devices (including covert ops cloaking device).

I'm placing my bets on the Helios and Buzzard to be the hot sellers. They have the most midslots, targeting range, and CPU, the three things I think define their role. The Helios especially because it has an extra lowslot than the Buzzard, which more than makes up for the reduced hislot, as these ships are not made for ganking, as is quite obvious.
Of course, the fact that the Buzzard looks awesome helps it alot too. The Anathema looks really nice too, I'll probably get 'em both.

Better able to survive than your average frigate.

survive??
you cloak 200k from the gate, go take a p1ss while 100 enemy ships jump in and still come back uncloned to take down all their ship complements _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

I'd guess Chaos or Entropy.
About the covert frigs... I hope the Helios looks better in action than on the image, otherwise it's a good thing to cloak it...

They have a 10 second "flight time" value, but no velocity, so maybe they are time bombs with a 10 second timer?

Would be sweet if they moved at whatever speed you were traveling when you launched them.
So you kinda fly toward your target, once your heading right for them, you release your payload, you break off, they fly at whatever speed you were moving toward the target, if u launched them over 10 seconds early, they harmlessly detonate b4 your target, but if you got the timing right, they impact the target and blow a nice hole on its sheilds/armor/hull...
Would be sweet seeing a sqadron of stukas.. i mean kestrels, all flying in V formation, speeding toward there target, under heavy flack.. i mean projectile fire and dropping 4 of thos bombs each, and sitting back and watching the fireworks :)

What do you guess the cloaks for these ships will sell for? The price on this ship total will mean you wont wanna be using it for much when its uncloaked so really all it does it spy. Currently you can spy just fine using a frigate with bookmarks. I can see how being able to warp in cloaked will be cool though. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v441/Dillinger4/Felsin.jpg |
