Quantum of Sol
Sol = "Sun" in Spanish
The Sun "sets" and "rises"
Therefore "Quantum of Rise"
There you go.
Sol is also Our Solarsystem in the Galaxy of Milky Way.
So,
Dear Earth, of solarsystem SOL, in the galaxy of Milky Way, in the Universe of Something

Ah yeah, is there going to be more work done dealing with node reinforcement (Infiniband or some work on the petition-based system) for the expansion?
Also, is singularity down ? =P __________

My Industry Account has been training hard to use the field to the best of her abilities. IF the expansion is more than fluff and smoke, moved around with a few mirrors, it "MIGHT" entice me to continue her character rather than delete the game from my computer as I am currently contemplating. Ironically, this also gives me reason to want to continue with my deletion plans as it strikes me as a planned release in concert with the earlier PR fiasco with the ghost training bit. I.e. 'Lets slap the shit out of them, then hand them some candy to make it all better so they will forget we lied to them, disrespected them, called them all exploiters, and treated them like morons'.
I know I am a very cynical person. I tend to believe the worst of people, and am even quicker to believe that companies are even worse than that. So far this follows a pattern I saw at Sony Online Entertainment just prior to my quitting Everquest years ago. Gods I really want to hope i'm wrong and CCP just kinda fubarred, I was really liking the game.

Originally by: Theqwert125 This Makes your N guns into one gun with a Nx damage and ammo modifier, meaning there are 1/N the calculations per volley, and adds the convenient ability to change ammo types for 'all' guns at the same time (by loading one gun with N loads of ammo, and firing N shots at once)
This is a significant optimization because instead of calculating everything for, say all 7 of a BS's guns times however many BS in both fleets, you now only need to calculate one gun per BS.

Originally by: CCP Wrangler CCP said that this issue has been brought up in the past, but has been rejected due to performance reasons. Moving items around causes a heavy load on the servers and making guns easier to reload might encourage players to do it even more frequently. There are concerns that during large fleet battles, all ammunition will be changed at the call of a fleet commander, which would cause an enormous spike on the servers.
Originally by: Daelin Blackleaf Weapon Grouping
One button to fire all weapons grouped together, one button to reload them, one button to change ammunition type.
But....
For turret groups of the same type calculations could be run for one turret and multiplied by the number of turrets in the group. Resulting in 6-7 times less load in many cases. When loading ammo only a single transaction is made. The group grabs X ammo for it's Y turrets, all of whom will have fired the same number of shots, meaning only one transaction takes place.
And now:

With Weapon Grouping, will you effectively be turning your 7/8 weapons into one big weapon server side, and would calculations of that weapon be performed only once?
With 7 guns there is a slight randomness to wrecking, and variations of movement v tracking allowing that 1 in a 1000 shot. Will those calculations be less / damage less because you are only working with one gun?

Quick term; can link many weapons to single F-button. In other words; many guns in one slot.

I expect nothing less than a 3-part set of trailers on this expansion, along the following lines:
A New Ship Chribba's secretary, Princess Player, is pursued by evil agents of the Amarr Empire after they stole the Veldnaught. Captured, she sends the plans for the Veldnaught along with a plea for help to an old apprentice of Chribba in Todaki, who has just begun to mentor a plucky young miner named Fluke Moonwalker. Wishing to return the plans because the postage wasn't paid for, they set out for the asteroid colony of Princess Player's home, aided by a capsuleer Mine Solo, captain of the Millenium Pigeon, the fastest Badger in the galaxy. Meanwhile, the Amarr Empire try to force Princess Player to reveal the location of Chribba's hidden capital ship escrow service by unleashing the full power of the Veldnaught on her home. The Millenium Pigeon arrives and is tractored onto the Veldnaught, where our heroes evade detection by hiding inside a Giant Secure Container. They rescue the princess, though Fluke's mentor is killed in veld-crystal combat with the Amarr Empire's evil agent Darth Veldar. Tracked back to Amarr IV, they provide the plans to the rebels enabling them to complete the first Orca. The Veldnaught arrives, but is so easily outmined by the Orca, that the Amarr self-destruct the Veldnaught out of spite (and to avoid the embarrassing killmail). Fluke and Mine Solo receive medals from the Chribba Alliance for their part in saving the day. There is much rejoicing.
The Nerdrage Strikes Back Amidst the frozen wastes of a distant ice belt, the Orca is suicide-ganked by the Amarr Empire's agents led by Darth Veldar. After an accident involving hallucinogenic mushrooms, Fluke realises he must seek out the enigmatic Chribba and learn the ways of Veldspar from him. He pilots his Bantam away from the battle to a distant safespot. Meanwhile as the battle in the ice belt does not go well, the rebels evacuate; the Millenium Pigeon suffers warp scrambling and is forced to hide amongst the nearby asteroids. Eventually this gets boring, and Mine Solo & Princess Player fly to a nearby station to play docking games, but are captured by Darth Veldar and tortured to bring Fluke out of hiding. Mine Solo is captured by the only bounty hunter in EVE, who was sent after him by a Todaki crime lord for failing to properly insure his last Badger. Fluke's training is progressing, but he has not yet mastered control of Tech 2 crystals; despite urging from Chribba he returns to the station to fight Darth Veldar, who announces he is Fluke's father, just after chopping his hand off. Through a series of inexplicable coincidences, Fluke and Princess Player manage to escape.

The Return of the Badger Fluke returns to Todaki to rescue Mine Solo, along with Princess Player who once again manages to get captured. The local crime lord is unprepared for Fluke's mastery of Veldspar, and they escape back to the growing rebel fleet. The Rebel Alliance has somehow managed to convince all the oppressed miners of the galaxy to turn up in one place (and that no-one is going to smartbomb them) having learned that the Amarr Empire are busy building an even greater Veldnaught. They resolve to send in a strike team to disable the POS shields protecting the ship, and then fly inside the ship to destroy its main reactor. Mine Solo's team arrives at the moon, slipping past security on the grounds they're new recruits, with the certificates to prove their skills. Fluke tags along after a brief trip to see Chribba, who tells Fluke that he must confront Darth Veldar, before vanishing (and remembering to make sure his clone is up-to-date). Fluke is drawn to Darth Veldar who brings him before the Amarr Emperor, whilst Mine Solo discovers that guessing a POS password is more difficult than he expected. The rebel fleet of Battle Badgers and Bantams arrives, to find the POS shields are still up and the guns active. Some random Admiral utters the immortal and badly-copied phrase 'IT's A TARP!' as an Amarr fleet of Tormentors and Mallers turn up. Eventually Mine Solo works out the Amarr Emperor's birthday and inputs the POS password, lowering the shields. The Millenium Pigeon pilots inside the half-built Veldnaught MKII and destroys the main reactor. Darth Veldar redeems himself by turning on the Emperor and saving Fluke.
Epilogue A new golden age of mining begins. Mine Solo and Princess Player get married. Fluke returns to Amarr IV to establish a Veldspar Training Centre. The original Veldnaught is reimbursed to Chribba due to lag. Chribba, his clone suitably reactivated, remains in the shadows, the true Master of Veldspar. ___ My views may not represent those of my corporation, which is why I never get invited to those diplomatic parties...
