Edited by: skuko on 16/10/2008 09:27:28 so with weapon linking, you will not be able to fire the guns/launchers separately anymore?
if so, then basically, you can do steady dps on a target no more, and eve will become alpha-online, right?
lets see: you have a drake with 7 HMLs, and you activate modules like 1--2--3--4--5--6--7, where "--" is a 1-2s pause. this way, you will hava stream of missiles coming out, doing steady dps on a target. on the other hand, activating all at once will fire a "blob" of 7 missiles which hit the target at the same time, doing bigger damage, but leaving time to take action until the second volley hits.
this would allow for the target to repair/shield boost more effectively.
i might be completely wrong tho.
please correct me, if my perpective is wrong. thanks in advance.

meh, think before you write something. ofc you don't have to link the weapons. It's your own choice and they can still be held all separated. Also consider to link multiple groups, like 2 launchers with EM missiles and 5 launchers with kin missiles, that would be 2 groups.

I think you're wrong - same DPS (rof doesn't change), with higher volleydamage (all weapons striking at once). I always get the feeling that if I get full volleys (all turrets / missiles striking at once) it's more effective than 'chaingunning' my weapons (1 after another). Especially in situations where it's a close call whether or not you can break your opponents tank, full volleys might be the thing needed to do enough damage to 'get under his tank' - aka do damage to (armor and) structure of your opponent, even when he's repairing a big part of the damage you do. This, especially on passiv shield tankers .
But hey, I might be wrong on that one. *** My opinions are my own, and don't necessarily represent those of my corpmembers. |

"Building trust in their goods" might take on greater meaning if the goods weren't all the same as each other, once you get past who sold them and what price they were purchased at ...
When I read the announcement that was my first thought too. Does this mean they are removing the current market format so that we have to manually search shops instead of being shown the lowest price? Or is it just a way to show brand loyalty to a product which is identical to everyone elses? Sorry if there has been an announcement on this, I haven't really been paying attention.

Slight graphic changes are already on Singularity. Space Background and Nebula is less bright and Station Interiors are much darker then right now on TQ.

imho this is just marketing acting up.
With the recent .1 updates/fixes they made, they wanted to link a name to them.
Why implement features and call it an expansion afterwards?
System avoidence? That feature must have cost like 1 day for 1 person to implement, because the algoritm was allready there. The most time was probably the administrator window for it.
We have the same with our marketing dudes. They want to go wild on some tiny features, just to sell... ----------------- Destiny is not a matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It's not a thing to be waited for - it is a thing to be achieved. |

No, it was probably released prematurely to help with the backlash from the peons for ghost training "bug fix".
We need to wait for the real info though.
It will be good to get some advanced warning, for those obnoxious skills nobody trains to 5 because they are next to useless. :P

I hope the weapons linking has a module to it, an any slot module with no fitting requirements would do just fine but a module nonetheless.

An added benefit to weapon linking is when mocking talentless combat no longer need we say "and all they do is bush F1, F2, F3, etc" now it's the much more effective "PUSH BUTTAN".

So what's with the name anyway? I understand that "Quantum Rise" can be translated as "a little bit more":
- Is it a little bit more subscription cost? - A little bit more bugs? - A little bit more features?
Or is it a typo and should it read "Quantum Rice"?

I'm beginning to think there is a need for "technical expansions" separate from "content expasions."
When players are told of an up-coming expansion they expect new content...new things to do, new ways to do them.
So an expansion whose description consists almost completely of technical improvements is bound to disappoint the players, and by implication depreciate the value of the technical improvements being announced.
StacklessIO, Eve64, continued improvements to the graphics engine, are very significant improvements to the game. But when they make up the major part of an annoucement which the players expect to provide new content, there is bound to be disappointment. |

Really?

"Slight graphic changes are already on Singularity. Space Background and Nebula is less bright and Station Interiors are much darker then right now on TQ."
This is the best news I've seen on the changes. Space is supposed to be sort of . . dark. Hate the blindingly bright background where i can't even see whether my modules are blinking green for on or red for off.
Ditto for the station strobe lights. I purposely open up windows to try to block their blinding effect.
