what would you do if i named my kid something offensive? nothing but complain. but who would you complain to? no one. because it's a stupid point. anything can by offensive to anyone. just because you find it offensive doesn't mean it is. quit trying to force your opinion onto others...
This not addressed to me, but...come on
So you would name your child axxhole just because you can and you will tell anybody asking why, that you are free to do it...
So much ignorance really hurts...please...grow up... And no, not everthing is relative, you are wrong.
i think the only time i'd actually be tempted to call a child of mine axxhole would be if you were my child. your hate directed at me is unwarranted.
and, yes, everything, and i do mean everything, is relative.
what i was referring to is the "where do we draw the line" thinking. because if someone wants to get worked up about a name, they will. and that is the key there. you have to let something bother you. you could choose to ignore it or "deal with it" - aka, turn the other cheek...
someone can and will find fault in everything if they want to. my purpose was to say if you have a problem, keep it to yourself. just because you are bothered by something doesn't mean it should be banned or stopped or removed. if so, how do i petition getting you banned? because, relative to me, i think you are highly offensive...
now... i was just kidding about being offended. i was simply stating that as an example to try and convey my point. and the basis is:
if you are bothered by something, then deal with it on your own time in your own way. don't force (that's right!) your opinion onto others. because i may find it heartwarming where you find it offensive.
thanks
there is a fine, but dissasterous line between a fart and a shart. i suggest you make sure which side you want to be on... |

As Rhaegar stated earlier, filing a harassment petition is the proper way to make a potentially offensive name known. The GMs will review the name and make a final determination. If a name is deemed offensive, it will be changed.

When i was a boy my parents thought it funny to call me this, i have since disposed of them. Later in life i had my name changed and became ceo of ATUK, but I still have fond memories of being the little ghey pirate i once was

If I'm bothered by something I deal with it by neutralizing the source of the problem. And that's what the petition function is for. Since we are referring to names that are considered offensive by society as a whole, your argument is weightless.

Yashri, you need to learn that what is offensive to you may not truly be offensive to everyone. In fact I don't think that anyting can be offensive to everyone. Learn to live with others choices or avoid all other people. Lack of preparation on your part does not constitute greifing on mine |

Heh considering this topic is bad enough, i want to share a story. I live near a big hospital, and i was getting some groceries in a nearby Giant. Somehow my nephew decided to go with, and somehow i actually agreed. So Im driving back from the Giant and there are like 2 old guys standing near one of the emergency driveways with a huge sign that says "THEY ARE KILLING BABIES HERE". So like my nephew cried, I almost barfed up the sandwich i was eating, and the whole evening was ruined because my nephew kept asking me to call the cops :\ So like. The point is (a) old people need to be enslaved and sent to mine enriched uranium because they obviously have too much time on their hands, and (b) i forgot.

Maybe those players had a reason to pick those names. Or maybe it was just coincidence.
I mean, hey!
I saw a whole twenty different people in space this morning.
It is "only" 15% of the player characters I saw today who think that calling women as female dogs is entertaining and acceptable. Why should we feel offended at that. Really!!?!
On the Adolf name issue. If someone picked that name, they (a) would know who that was. amd łocled the name because of that., (b) had no clue. But how likely is (b)? Not like it is a "john smith" type commone name.
Those player characters I saw today would likely not have picked the name "[female dog]" (or variants of it), if they would not know that it is used to refer in a negative way to women.
If it was to use the animal personality in a positive way, then why do we not see a same ammount of characters named deer, doe, stag, wolf, drake, etc...?
Ignorance (or Stupidity) is not an excuse to on purpose hurt people.
PS: Doh! The forum replaced the name I saw in space with little * placeholders. I would think that thisis a hint to log back in and report those persons.
PPS: Not so easy to get this posted, ..
