Edited by: Tease on 30/06/2004 17:21:41 in with the fanboi-isms before the lock:
CCP is great and they are wonderful and if you are patient everything will be fixed and the devs are the best because they have a blog and writing games is really hard and other games have lag and outages sometimes too and Eve is better than breathing and people are too meen to the devs and TomB has a cute butt and I applied for isd so everything in eve is perfect and if you complain about anything there's something wrong with your brane and mining rawks! and soonÖ hehehehehehehe! and stop whining about the lag, CCP will fix it because CCP rules! can i have your stuff?
hmm, did I forget anything?
oh!
If you don't like it you should build your own mmorpg and see how easy it is!!
There, think I covered all of the inane responses you'll get when voicing your legitimate complaint..
----------------------------------------- [2003.12.17 06:35:20] Corwin > Orvolle is .4? Doesn't that mean that it's less than .5 ? and isn't .5 what starts the danger level? [2003.12.30 07:15:50] Corwin > Tech 2, IE expanded cargo holds I, MIning lasers 2, etc.... TL2 is being released all around you [2003.12.30 07:21:20] Corwin > tech 2 is released to players. Some players are busy researching the BPs before building stuff. Others are sitting on the BPs making copies to make money off of them that way |

The hamsters that were powering the server were replaced by gerbils, but the upgrade didn't go as well as desired. We are thinking about replacing the gerbils with cats, but there are some logistical issues to take care of first.
On a more serious note, there have been some latch issues that the Devs and Server Team are working on. They have been trying to track down the issue since it came up and are making progress. Hopefully, there will be resolution soon.

Just reboot the server already.
Takes ages to log in, forum is slow as hell. Just fix it.

Well if nobody else is going to point the finger then I will. The problem over the last couple of days is the new transit put in by Clueless & Witless for Iceland Telecom. It is FUBAR'd and at this moment is dropping 17% the traffic sent through it.
I would have hoped that you would have learned from last year with the many and varied f*ckups that Clueless & Witless made, and perhaps considered moving to a provider who actually are capable of delivering what they promise. Obviously you're getting too good a deal to do that but do be aware that we your customers are getting seriously fed up of it.
*Clueless & Witless is what Cable & Wireless are known as in the trade (for those of you wondering)...

NO NO NO!!! you don't replace the Gerbils with cats, you put the cats behind the gerbils in their own "generator" running wheels, that way the cats will chase the gerbils generating more energy, and the gerbils will perpetually run away from the cats generating energy as well...
however, a better resolution yet is to set up a third generator running wheel with a dog in it, hence having something to perpetually scare the cat into running...
however, the only way I can think of keeping the dogs chasing the cats forever is to put a large tub behind them full of water and suds and keep threatening them with the word "bath"...
but regardless, that could triple your power in no time :D lol
all joking aside though, I do hope some remedy for the painfully bad lag is found soon, I can't mine or run missons, or do anything really because of the multiple minute delays in reaction to my inputs...

Seconded, but please be more constructive than this.
Could you run "tracert" so you can actually see which hops are causing the problems. Then submit your findings to CCP.
Programs like "Visualroute" are also quite handy. If we all do this, CCP doesnt have to find out themselves (if they dont know already, which I doubt ). Bjorn Borg : Underwear is futile ! |

What it always runs to is that CCP looks at it and says: Nope not on our network. According to your logs provider x causes the problem, let them solve it. But when you contact them you get the message, your no customer from us please contact your own provider and if you contact your own provider then they will say its not in their network and they will forward the issue (some weeks later). - - -

Yay Clueless and Witless! We are tied to these incompetent fools for all our company internal networks. Standard practice is....
Scenario 1. Us: "there's a problem, we think its one of your routers" C&W: "no mate its fine must be your servers" Us after several hours of fruitless investigation: "no we are pretty sure its this component between IP x and y" C&W: "No mate don't think so..tell you what cos we are so great we will have a look for you"...5 minutes later everything works. Us: "So what was the problem?" C&W: "There was no problem..dunno what you are talking about etc.."
Scenario 2 C&W: "We are going to put in a change, there wont be any impact on service." Everything breaks. Us: "We think your change XXX has cause this problem. Can you investigate or back it out please." C&W: "Can't be us, the change we did would not have affected anything." Us: "It worked before you did the change, as soon as you did the change it didnt work, please could you have a look." C&W: "No mate don't think so..tell you what cos we are so great we will have a look for you". 5 minutes later everything works. Us: "So what was the problem?" C&W: "There was no problem..dunno what you are talking about...oh except one of the engineers crashed a router and didnt bother to check it cos he'd have to come in and do it locally..but that router shouldn't have caused these problems"
Scenario 3: Us: "We have a performance problem between your kit router xx and this IP." C&W: "Whats the routers IP?" Us: "Its your kit ffs don't YOU know?" C&W: " Sorry cant do anything without IPs" Several hours tracking down a third party kit details later... Us: "Here are the IPs for your kit" C&W: "500 pings show only 5% loss, so there's no problem"
And no..it never gets better. Its groundhog day every day.

I pay $15 a month for stability, cheat protection and content. One of these things has not been present the last few days.
I am scared to use my harvesters, even in 1.0 space. Two people in my corp have lost Battleships.
At the moment, I have to mine without my drones for fear of losing them, and I am considering just not leaving the station until the problem is fixed.
If you can't fix it, CCP, roll the patch back. I will not be paying my monthly fee if ll it gets me is torment.

The search for the root causes of the cluster and latch issues is getting more and more narrow. Oveur mentioned in his Dev Blog posted earlier today that there would be another Blog coming very soon with more information. Once the Blog has been posted, announcements will be made here.

I'm not a whiner, you won't find another post from me complaining here but right now I'm pretty angry about this subject so I feel like adding to this thread and moaning for once.
I warped out of a sation to kill a 55k rat that I'd left in a belt in just now. Warped in at 30k opened my drones, launched them and lagged out. After 5 minutes of staring at the loggin screen 'authenticating' I finally logged in to see my rupture with no armour and no hull, just 10% shield get blown up (no I hadn't warped to a safe spot). Follwing that the rat killed my pod and I was in my clone staion without my ship or equipment. I don't have enough money from the insurance to get a new clone and a new ship and reaplace the stuff I lost.
I petitioned it and got an email saying it could be 3-5 days.
No thanks CCP. Keep your laggy servers, I'm not paying you for this.
Computer games don't affect children. If PacMan had affected us as kids then we'd all be running around in dark rooms, munching pills and listening to repetitive music. |

Edited by: Strangerr on 01/07/2004 19:52:03 well you know there is only 1 small problem with all this .. CCP dosent care a bit about you :) with the trial they will get much more newbies that will stay than ppl that will leave due to the lag :) So really all their replies on the forums are pure "must do cause this is my job" . :) I don't flame CCP or something just showing you the point :)

Hmm... Are you sure something is being done? All we see is an aging news report about some "diagnostic" and no other information. WHAT is being done? Is it being done RIGHT NOW?! I'm personally getting sick of the "just shut up and go away (but don't stop sending us that monthly fee!)" attitude I'm seeing from CCP lately. It's giving us the impression that you guys either can't fix the problem or just don't care. Give us some information or continue to look like you don't know what you are doing. It's your call...

Syndicate works fine just come out to us and play

Rats are killing pods now? Since when?

There is no lag. It is all in your mind. Just accept that there is no lag, and you too will be at peace.
Or... Fire up your favorite copy of Unreal Tournament 2004 and take out your frustrations on other players with high caliber cannons and rocket launchers.

Yes, I am sure that the Devs are working on the lag and latch issues diligently. The search and research into these issues have included frequent and lengthy communications with Microsoft and other vendors in an attempt to find the causes and fix them.

Some players are busy researching the BPs before building stuff. Others are sitting on the BPs making copies to make money off of them that way |
