Construction material prices rises are the cause.
Most of them aren't profitable to build in the current overall market.

And the drone poo nerf isnt even here yet.
Paid just over 600 mill for my Provi a year ago. At 1,330,000,000 in Jita right now. Only reason I haven't sold it is I know it will only get higher. |

I present to you, the Mineral Price Index - when it goes up, stuff gets more expensive. When it goes up a lot, stuff gets a lot more expensive.
http://www.evemarketeer.com/trade/mineralindex
Or look at the Mineral price page:
http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/group_summary/18
Click on each of the (8) minerals and look at the Trends graph. Here's the key ones in freighter production.
http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/info/34#3 http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/info/36#3 http://www.evemarketeer.com/item/info/38#3
And for "how much minerals go into a freighter", it is approximately (for an Obelisk):
Trit: 95,003,797 Pyr: 12,588,101 Mex: 4,686,735 Iso: 679,873 Nocx: 200,416 Zyd: 31,525 Mega: 11,261
Which puts build costs at around 1.12B ISK right now. Tritanium is approximately 50% of the build cost, Mex is about 15% and Nocx is about 8%. |

Amber Green Thorn wrote:oops sorry durrr bluph dur -- k am an idiot - but such a huge increase still?? What happens is that people with too much isk on their hands start buying up minerals in Jita. The price goes up and other people start buying up minerals, some to stockpile for later use, others just to speculate. Then people start buying up battleships to reprocess and eventually freighters. All those minerals either get stockpiled or get sold on the market to be stockpiled by someone else. (Ships can also be stockpiled instead of reprocessed if you want to bet on mineral prices because they should eventually be worth more than their minerals when prices stabilize, but you can always reprocess them later if they aren't.)
Meanwhile dronepoo is still coming in by the freighter load and is still being generated like it is going out of style and will be at least another three weeks. Miners are dusting off their hulks getting ready to finally make some serious money. Meanwhile, hoarders are cleaning out their hangars. (I myself am selling a stack of battleships I had leftover after the insurance scams.) Suicide gankers are rethinking their profit margins and buying fewer ships.
Eventually, those people sitting on their piles of minerals will eventually sell. Some can afford to wait a very long time, but most realize that this is a probably just a short-term deal and it is better not to wait too long. When they do, things will return to normal.
tl;dr - It's just Jita being Jita. |

I will agree with you regarding low end mineral prices, but what about high end minerals? If 40% of high end mins come for the Drone Lands, the only place that min supply is being replaced by will be null sec and wh belt miners. Do you truly believe that null sec miners are gong to start cranking up production under current null sec conditions to cover off that supply drop?
Unless null sec mining mechanisms change dramatically, and null sec alliances change their attitude towards miners, there will be a major shortage of the high end minerals, and prices will reflect that.

At one time mining mercoxit in null was one of the highest isk/hour activities. I have never heard of mercoxit being mined in wormhole grav sites but i guess it is possible. The primary source for morphite is currently drone poo. After the drone POO nerf the primary source will be upgraded sov 0.0 space
Most 0.0 alliances are PVP focused using ratting and combat sites to generate the income they need to buy everything they want. However once the drone POO is nerfed there will be a major shortage of morphite and other null sec minerals need to produce what the PVPers want to buy. Null sec industry will become mandatory for any null sec alliance that wants to field T2 equipment
Since most 0.0 alliances do not actively support/require a mining division it is hard to find a system with the appropriate upgrades. When this changes 0.0 mining will again be a high income activity. required alliance mining ops and manufacturing will again become common place. Null sec warfare will get more complicated and fun as it will no longer be just about who has the biggest guns but who has enough industry to support and replace their big guns. small alliances will be able to weaken larger alliances by attacking there industry and supply lines
A new age is upon us in EVE. It will bring many changes, most for the better. Anti indy alliances will adapt or fall. Many small alliances currently dwelling in NPC null will look to move back to 0.0 space where they can establish there own sovereignty and support there alliance thru industry rather than rely on the ratting that was nerfed during the sov changes. Smaller corps will then be able to move into NPC controlled 0.0 and get a foot hold in null. I see a lot of great things happening in EVE this summer that will only make this game better for everyone. Just maybe it will be enough to reduce some of the less desirable activities that have become so common place such as the blob tatics in null
These changes will increase the demand for null bears. There are many high sec industrialists (carebears) that would like to move into null, but are discouraged by the animosity most PVPers feel towards carebears prevents this from happening. These changes may just force the null sec PVPer to realize just how important these other players are to keep there game going. If we can over come that stigma EVE will become a much funner place for everyone. Even the gankers. An increase in null bears will mean an increase in gank targets traveling through low sec. And an increase in small scale combat everywhere. Large fleet battles will still continue but an empires survivability will be much more dependent on keeping there industrial divisions safe. |
