I've seen many posters parroting these lines...
-Missiles are fine, maybe even boosted by QR! -Use a target painter, same or better damage than before! -Web your target!
I'm having trouble seeing how this helps a sniping Cerberus firing from 150km+.
Target painter won't paint at 150km. (TS calls... point!, painted!, webbed 3-5x!)
Webs won't reach 150km and even if webbed by gang mates the new comical explosion velocity is so low that webbed, plated BS's still speed tank missile damage. (well, really anything that moves can do that now, haha!)
I think now the sniping Cerberus needs to focus on stationary targets with high signature radius (this happens all the time! think structures, AFK, etc...), or...
Any heavily webbed/painted (=primary) target that will probably pop just before your missiles arrive, or...
Targets you have no real hope of seriously damaging, ie. just for whoring kill mails, uh at the bottom of the damage table.
So, park the Sniping Cerberus?

Yes. I was frequently able to pop people from range whether they were scrambled or not. Now, as long as they are moving the damage from heavy missiles will be much lower than pre-patch. Sniping Cerberus' never fitted disruptors or scramblers since sniping from 150km means that there would be no "point" privided by the Cerberus itself if you get my drift.
Your cheap shot fell sort of short I'd say.

Well, you know, Cerberus gets this flight time bonus, and sometimes Falcons need to be shot at from range, and sometimes ranged fire support was a nice addition to gangs/fleets gate fights.
So again, yes, Cerberus pilots sometimes sniped, maybe you never thought of that.

So basically you made a thread, disguised it as someone looking for advice on how to utilize his ship, but all you really wanted was to whine about how missiles suck?
... i'm not going to comment you know what i'm going to tell you anyway.

Why reply at all? Can you add anything besides your free psychological evaluation? Is the sniping Cerberus still a viable ship? Is the sniping Cerberus still able to do decent damage like before the patch? Should CCP change the ship bonus to push the Cerb pilot inside TP range?
Maybe the explosion velocity is way too low, could that be the problem here?
I did see the standard stuff being said, TP, web, use precision heavy missiles. Even after all that the sniping Cerberus is heavily nerfed, a nano-nerf ffs. I thought maybe I was missing something, but then again after the resopnses so far, no, the Cerberus is screwed until the fix the explosion velocity of missiles.

Interesting, I'm seeing reduced damage on all targets moving faster than about 100mps, and against targets moving faster than about 500mps, no real reason to waste the ammo.
Using CN scourge from range.
So your Cerb is working great, compared to what? your pre-patch Cerb? Ibis?

My pre-patch Cerb was doing 0 dps vs. most targets, now it's doing more than that. I've tried it with assault launchers and light precision missiles and just murdered inties, and it does extremely well vs. BS/BC sized targets with both Fury heavy missiles and Rage HAMs.
The DPS is reduced somewhat when trying to hit unwebbed cruisers, but where the Cerb is still hitting for *some* dps, my Deimos is hitting for zero. As is my Vaga and Zealot.
So, compared to just about every other HAC in the game, my Cerb is right at the top of the list.

Your contention that your pre-patch Cerb did zero dps is crap. Your contention that your Deimos, Vaga and Zealot now do zero dps is crap.
Let's be realistic, tell me how the sniping Cerberus is ok now? Add a target painter and web?
My contention is that adding a target painter and web to my Cerberus does zero for me at sniper range. At the same time the explosion velocity of heavy missiles makes them heavily nerfed and target painting won't help! Also it's going to take at the very least double webbing to get you damage back to pre-patch levels, really for many ships triple webbing or more. So the sniping Cerberus looks like a hanger queen for now. Like what happened for Falcons so many moons ago.

I dunno, my targets are dying very quickly to my Cerb while my buddy has them tackled/webbed/painted with his Rapier. I guess you're just (still) doing it wrong?
My Zealot can't hit at 150km very well at all. Neither can any of my other HACs. I fly them all btw. With all skilled maxed or relevant spec skills at 4.
Saying webs and TPs don't help *at all* is crap. They help just fine. You just need to use enough of them. That's CCP's answer to everything these days: it doesn't work? Get more!

Ok, Bellum, you are really clever.
I see that you are just playing around like a fool. I guess your secret is to throw out cheap tricks like "my zealot hits for zero dps" (at 150km, shhhh! this is the clever joke part).
I just can't get it through my thick skull to fill my mid-slots with target painters and webs and just forget that they do NOTHING at 150km. Maybe I need more mid-slots.
And again I'll say it, putting target painters and webs on my Cerberus is useless if I want to snipe at 150km, so there, make another joke dude, tell me again!

No
See.. your gang mate goes in and tackles your target and you (the poor sniper cerb pilot) sits off as far as you want and you spam missiles.
How else did you fly a sniper cerb pre-patch, politely convo your targets and ask them not to warp out?

And this is the sad truth. They might as well have called the expansion Blob Rising and been honest about it.
As for the Cerberus, it's still a good ship. The main reasons to fly a Cerberus are all paper-thin and don't move very fast. It took a big hit in the role of small gang dps, but as an anti-support ship it'll still work alright. ----------- Blaster sig removed for now, pending those "changes we've been working on all day". CCP, don't screw this up.

I think its a rather stupid thing to have the two hacs being able to deal lowerish damage up to 200km. The eagle is a proper sniper and useful in many situations, the cerbs role shouldnt be sniping as well but rather be good at something the other hac cant do that good.
Just as all the other races have two different hacs, allowing two different gamecontents to be used, the cerb should be changed so that caldari specialized players have access to as much content, ie. closerange cruisersized fighting at the same level other hacs do it, too.
Change its range bonus to either a tank or damage bonus, and give it a 25m3 dronebay - that would help immense.
And while im on the subject, while all other races have commandships that have a strong tank and proper damage, perfect to take out battleships in small gangfights. The nighthawk on the other hand has a bonus to kill small ships, which seems rather useless considering its price and the amount of other ships able and made to deal with enemie support. -

wait.
wait juuuust a bit.
from what I understood, you say that pre-patch you were using a sniper-fit cerb at sub 10km ranges?
cuz it seems that I read somewhere that you were webbing targets with your sniper-fit cerb.
you also say that your sniping cerb should wtfpwn everything solo.
at 150km range.
wait huh? ---

Heavy cerberus is sux for pvp now .future is AML cerberus with CN lights(precisions are crap). You have cool dps to inties/AF/cruisers at 100Km ,smaller dps to BC/BS than heavyMC.For close vs BS/BC you can load fury lights(250dps)... + 50k EHP tank and point+mwd.
btw:HAM T2 cerberus is great for belting :)

No you are stupid, he said other sniperhacs dont even get that range, that easy. And he said he had a buddy in a Rapier ( the ship with webs n painter bonus fyi ) for tackling targets. You know you wont catch anything at 150km as everyone and their dog will be just warping away. Your whole argument is invalid. Your trolling is awesome. ________________

Dear Lord, this is a stupid thread. In fact, it's so stupid that I can't be bothered to write a proper response. Apart from this:
Bellum is doing it right. You don't need a painter. If you do fit choose to fit one, it can have 50% chance of a hit at 135 km. What damage were you previously getting against fast targets, before QR? Take your interceptor for a spin around an AML Cerberus. Insure it first.
Cerberus is massively boosted.
